Awesome Christmas, if I do say so myself!
So what's your guys's opinions on Electric Razors, got me one of them Phillips Norelco razors and man it's pretty decent.
So what's your guys's opinions on Electric Razors, got me one of them Phillips Norelco razors and man it's pretty decent.
It gets the job done, but won't get rid of stubble. I personally don't like to use them.
If you're aiming for a more stubble-based look, it it worthwhile? also hey crede it's been a while man
Hey guys, quick question: How many times can I use a razor blade before I need to replace it, lest I tear my face asunder?
Hey guys, quick question: How many times can I use a razor blade before I need to replace it, lest I tear my face asunder?
I mean it depends on what razor blades and how much hair you have to shave, but personally I don't use them more than two or three times before replacing them.
yeah 2-3 uses, same for me. I use feathers and their sharpness seems to make them dull out much faster than other blades. Other blades like super iridiums seem to be a lot more durable and let me get 5 uses out of them.
Getting the urge to buy more crap again. Kinda want the Bakelite slant from Italian barber, but it looks like they may run out of stock soon. Also wanna get one of the special edition soaps from strop shoppe, I've heard good things about it. And then maybe a silver tip from whipped dog, but I think Larry is out of stock or I think I heard his daughter or something was sick.

Though for now I'm still using my 37c slant, I just prefer the heft of it. The bakelite slant is really light and it forces you to really change the way you shave with a DE. Worth it if you're curious though, It can give a really good shave. Larry seems to be doing fine right now, I still see him logged on gmail all the time.
Yeah, the lightness does seem like it'd take some getting used to. I think I heard that iKon was going to make a slant?
Yeah, heard the same as well. There's been a lot of noise about slants when it comes to wetshaving, so it seems like some stores followed suit and are designing their own slants. Along with Ikon, it seems like Razorock is designing their own slant too.
Oh thats right, i think i heard about the razorock one too. I am looking into some blade samplers though, any recommendations?
I've never actually tried one myself, bullgoose seems to have a nice selection of them though. http://www.bullgooseshaving.net/blsapa.html
OH GOD MY FACE I think I need to watch a few videos on how to properly shave with this thing, sometimes I do fine and sometimes I tear myself to hell and back :v:
Make sure you have proper angle and no pressure. What kinda prep are you doing?
well shattered that little conversation we had last night made me try out the bakelite slant again. I definitely prefer the 37c over it. At least for me, the bakelite is just way too light to shave comfortably with. You actually have to apply some pressure with this razor for it to shave, else it'll start skipping and may nick you.
Make sure you have proper angle and no pressure. What kinda prep are you doing?
Lots of shaving soap and that's about it, really. I wash my face with warm water beforehand, if that helps.
Awesome! I didn't know there was a thread for this. I've been using my great grandpa's straight razor, and hand cut mirror for years. Sure beats buying new blades! I'll have to get a picture of my setup tonight.
Is there anything bad from shortening the hair in your nether region with a scissor?
Merkur Heavy Duty Double Edge Razor 34C... Good idea or not?
Its a classic. I'd go for the 37c though, should be the same price. Either one will be good,
What makes the 37c better?
The slanted design cuts through whiskers more easily. Think like a guillotine works or how a chef chops vegetables, that's what the razor would be doing to whiskers.
I got some questions and i would like any of you to answer if possible. Can wet shaving used by someone with a somewhat sensitive skin? Can i wet shave other areas of my body other than my beard? Whats the best Merkur Razor? Thanks in advance.
Yes, yes, and Merkur 37c A lot of people who switch to wet-shaving and DE do it because they have sensitive skin. You can save other areas other than your beard with a DE, well most I'd say. I'm not sure anyone would want to shave their balls with a double edged razor. The 37c imo is the best merkur because its a slant.

My stupid old electric one would make my face hurt all day if I shaved with it, whereas double edged only hurts if shave too hard or something stupid.

Yeah, its a good pick.
I would never again use anything but a straight razor. The floozies love a smooth face. :)
i just use a three bladed gillette and whatever shaving cream is around... granted i used to give a fuck about my facial hair when it would grow out in fucked up patches... but my stubble doesn't look to bad, to me at least. i guess i've kinda given up on shaving. it's like something i do once a week. though i would learn how to straight razor shave if i ever had to keep the stubble down. probably get one with a nice handle and stuff. what are some good straight razor brands? and how hard is it compared to using a normal multibladed razor?
