the teeth means it's an "open-comb" design, most razors are "closed-comb". If you thought the razor was easy to use without it cutting you might mean it's more of a "mild" design where the blade the and it's angle is held back a bit from the guard. An aggressive razor is the opposite of this, it'll shave closer but it needs a little more care as well when using it. Yeah, feather is good. They're pretty expensive as far as de blades go and they get dull pretty quick as well, but I love them for how sharp they are. In fact feather makes surgical knives and scalpels in the same factory where they make their razor blades. Other good blades are astras, personna reds, and gillette 7 o' clocks. Ah damn, thats kind of interesting. I wonder how much they would have been worth unused. NOS blades can fetch a bit of higher price, but most I've seen weren't really that much more expensive than new blades.
Thanks a bunch man! i'll check them out. Also i don't really know if it was hard to cut myself, i've never shaved like this before, it could be I just have wicked skill or something. I'd probably never be able to find someone to buy those blades, besides I think it's a nicer tribute to my great grandfather to shave like he would have~
I'd do this but I have acne and it'd scar me the fuck up. Can't wait till I clear up to start, though!
that smell when you put on aftershave so smooth
Uh, I just use a gillete fusion.
Uh, I just use a gillete fusion.
Why do people hate these compared to the other blades?
Why do people hate these compared to the other blades?
Blades are hilariously overpriced and they tend to cause skin irritation, particularly when paired with that shit in a can they sell alongside them
apparently it was the fusion that jump-started the trend in using DE's again. Most likely because of above^ I feel a little guilty in buying the powered vibrating version even after I still had the manual one as well.
I like electric razors, but I am willing to try regular razors. I've always been afraid I'll cut my face open with a razor and I've avoided them. It seems so easy to just catch some skin and start tearing.
I work at a hotel where you are supposed to look in prime shape (no facial hair). I forgot to shave this morning and my owner made me shave with a shitty BIC razor in the locker rooms and I cut my neck a couple times and bled all over the place and didn't go back to work for 30 minutes just so the cuts could heal.

The shave you get with razors is worth it
I've been using manual razors for a year and I haven't gotten a burn or cut a single time, I've been thinking of using electric razors just to try it out but I guess this thread convinced me to continue using maunal. Unless I fail horribly myself I eradicate every single strand of hair on my face, baby smooth. Also the aftershave is glorious. The problem here is my crotch, I've tried shaving with a manual and I get a horrible rash, however using an aftershave with alcohol seemed to help quite a bit. I'm still not sure on how to complete my crotch shaving.
Why do people bring something sharp near their jewels, it hurts me thinking about what could go wrong.
Because I am a master of precision.
Why do people bring something sharp near their jewels, it hurts me thinking about what could go wrong.
Because it's really not that hard, just don't be a fucking idiot and you'll be fine
Why do people bring something sharp near their jewels, it hurts me thinking about what could go wrong.
Shaving the balls feels awesome with a manual razor. It's like a ball massage. I find it generally easier to not cut yourself down there since you can move stuff around with your free hand and you aren't looking in a mirror to see what you're doing.
R.A.D is kicking in, I want to get a slant-bar. Diagonal slicing is supposedly better than horizontal slicing. Do you even shave facepunch?
Dad just showed me his collection of antique straight razors that have passed through his family for six generations. Says when I am old enough he will help me use them. Fuck yes.
I use double bladed disposable razors and some 'old style' cream stuff, does that count?
I use double bladed disposable razors and some 'old style' cream stuff, does that count?
it doesn't, pickup a DE.
No idea, I know my grandfather had my dad in his teens and his grandfather before that, might be something like that. I do know that they are old as shit, there is even one for every day.

Ordered a merkur progress instead of the slant, it's adjustable
How'd I do, boss?
How'd I do, boss?
that razor is a very solid choice, do you have pre-shave oil? Otherwise I'd recommend shave secret, nice and cheap. What kind of blades are in the sampler pack? I should have originally put this in the OP but here's a video if you're interested in seeing the technique used for wetshaving, he's using a 34C as well. Feather New Hi-Stainless Platinum (10 blades) Crystal or "Israeli" (10 blades) Derby Extra (5 blades) Red Israeli Personna (5blades) Astra Superior Platinum (5 blades) Thanks for the video by the way, very informative!
Those blades are all very good maybe with the exception of the Derbies, they seem to be universally hated on most forums. I'm interested to find out what works the best for you, I actually haven't tried too many blades myself. It's nice you got stands from the beginning too, I still haven't bought anything like that and I keep most of the stuff in my "shave-den" in relative disarray. Need to get myself a stand
Started shaving in I think early 8th grade, puberty hit me pretty hard and had a neck beard going over the summer. Now, I shave Sunday so I can look decent through out the week, I like having some facial hair though, because I look way to young when I do. I just want a soul patch or something similar, my problem is that I sort of have a bald spot right around my chin, I get mean beards everywhere else but there, which is where I want it to grow. Is that normal?
I've been shaving for about 6 years and always cut myself, every time.
Get pre-shave oil to better lubricate your skin, so it's harder for a blade to cut your skin. Better preparation and lather helps as well.
I shave my asshair. I do not like asshair. [editline]21st August 2012[/editline] Give me tips on how to master the art of shaving my ass hair. Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing a good enough job.
