I shave my asshair. I do not like asshair. [editline]21st August 2012[/editline] Give me tips on how to master the art of shaving my ass hair. Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing a good enough job.
shave the hair on your buns with the grain, rub your hands all over to find which way the hairs are growing
Hey guys, I'm really interested in getting into this. My only concern is that I get ingrown hairs like a motherfucker (usually one per shave) but I assume it's because I don't use any shaving cream and I use a Braun 2-AA battery travel razor. I had been under the impression that it does the trick, but clearly I'm doing it wrong. I'm curious whether a newbie should invest in an alum block, styptic pencil and/or aftershave lotion. I will probably do it right and pick up a DE razor and a brush and soap, though as someone totally inexperienced with a razor I'm guessing that I will cut the shit out of my face the first few times. Should I bother with that stuff or should I just use toilet paper and cold water like a real man?
I accidentally cut off a mole on my face shaving

I don't think you would really cut yourself that much if you started to learn to use a DE though, I started off with the sharpest blades and a really aggressive razor and I very rarely nicked myself when I was starting. Get a styptic pencil anyways though, they're pretty cheap and work wonders. If you have problems with ingrowns, I'd recommend using "Bump Patrol". They can be bought at CVS and Walgreens. http://www.amazon.com/Bump-Patrol-Treatment-Original-Formula/dp/B003XCP9M6 As for aftershave I never really use it myself, since I use Bump Patrol and moisturize my face after I shave. It's pretty much the same thing.
Started shaving in I think early 8th grade, puberty hit me pretty hard and had a neck beard going over the summer. Now, I shave Sunday so I can look decent through out the week, I like having some facial hair though, because I look way to young when I do. I just want a soul patch or something similar, my problem is that I sort of have a bald spot right around my chin, I get mean beards everywhere else but there, which is where I want it to grow. Is that normal?
Yeah it's perfectly normal. My dad says he wasn't able to perfect his goatee until his late 20's. Dry shaving is for tweens. Real men wet shave. Go do yourself a favor and spend at least $20 on this next time you're at the store. canned snot and a vibrating razor?
canned snot and a vibrating razor?
It's cheap and results in a clean shave. Not everybody has wads of cash to spend on fancy razor blades and girly brushes.
I shave my face using an electric sander like that one but not the same model.
It's cheap and results in a clean shave. Not everybody has wads of cash to spend on fancy razor blades and girly brushes.
It's not cheap at all, it's the exact opposite. It costs 28 dollars to get 8 fusion cartridges from Walgreens and you have to replace those things every 1-2 weeks for a decent shave. For 10 dollars you can get 100 good-quality DE blades. Real wet-shaving just has a bigger upfront cost, but other then that it's much cheaper. And if we're going to discuss clean shaves, then there is absolutely no comparison between DE/straight razors and gimmicky vibrating cartridge razors. Do yourself a favor and get a straight razor shave if you go to a classic-style barbershop, you'll see what I mean.
I'll be honest, I'm not expecting much for £10, but I had a little leftover and thought I may aswell give it a go, I'm sick of using an electric razor, it's painful and and a nuisance to clean.
I wish you great luck, but I think you might be very underwhelmed with the razor and the blades. Those blades aren't even made out of stainless steel and cheap DE razors usually have misaligned heads due to poor quality control. But like you mentioned, you're not expecting much.
atm i'm using a gilette razor that i got for free with a tshirt fuck the police

Thanks for the advice, Lamar, you're a cool dude. Anyway, I had a thought the other day--is there any reason folks don't use hair remover cream/ gel / Nair on their face? Most of the shit I've seen in stores is just for body hair, but using some of that stuff seems like it would be faster and easier than dealing with razors and all this other stuff.
yeah some do, they're called depilatory powders. Like hair removers though, they burn and smell like rotten eggs.
I just use gillette fusion and hot water to shave because I always end up having an allergic reaction to shaving foam :saddowns:
Have you tried any of the sensitive/natural ones? I noticed that a lot of the stuff in most drugstores is kind of harsh, even if it's labelled as "sensitive skin". This is a good one, it can be bought at whole foods. http://www.kissmyface.com/product/item/51
I've noticed that Etsy has a lot of shaving supplies (soaps, mugs, brushes) up for sale. http://www.etsy.com/search?q=wet%20shave&order=most_relevant&view_type=gallery&ship_to=ZZ&min=0&max=0
I recently received an Electric razor as a gift but it feels incredibly odd when I use it and the stubble left behind usually feels spiky. Is there any reason for this? Is the electric razor damaging my stubble? Yes I created this profile to ask this question.

Also, aftershave galore. Some of the scents seem really interesting and probably smell better than all the mass produced stuff. http://www.etsy.com/search?q=aftershave&order=most_relevant&view_type=gallery&ship_to=ZZ&min=0&max=0
I've been thinking of getting one of these straight or safety razors to help define my beard line. I've been using an electric razor for it, but the shave isn't close enough, and it often gives me little ingrown hairs, which I then have to tweeze out, leavin' a little pock on my face. And that's just no good.
atm i'm using a gilette razor that i got for free with a tshirt fuck the police
I got one of those too, was the worst piece of shit I've ever used.
why is there a god damn thread about shaving are you neckbeards really that incapable of anything [editline]25th August 2012[/editline]
I've been thinking of getting one of these straight or safety razors to help define my beard line. I just use hot water and then apply some moisturiser on my face afterwards
I use a Wilkinson Quattro and they have the most ingenious marketing scheme ever. In Austria every single male has to go to military (or civilian service) unless we can't because of medical issues. Because of that everyone gets ordered to a military barrack at age ~16 to get checked medically and psychologically and that's where Wilkinson gives everyone a free razor with replaceable blades. Now nearly every single male Austrian ever will use this razor as their first razor and buy new blades regularly. Evil genius! And to stay more on topic I'm just using water and the razor, no shaving foam or aftershave or anything. I have no idea what it's for and am practically a shaving noob, but it works pretty well for me.

Once they dull, it won't be like that anymore.
This is pretty cool, I wetshaved using disposables because dryshaving is just silly. But the DE blades and stuff looks like it would work amazingly better and doesn't get clogged after going two inches on my face. Turns out I had one of those DE Razors sitting around unused in the medicine cabinet, just no blades or cream for it. I'll order them and give this a try!
It's cheap and results in a clean shave. Not everybody has wads of cash to spend on fancy razor blades and girly brushes.
I hate razors like those, they always leave goddamn razor bumps and ingrown hairs on me, pieces of shit.
I have never cut myself shaving, what are you guys doing wrong? Just wet face, shaving cream, push razor onto face and drag. Repeat 2-3 more times if you want it to be really close.
