IMO it would have been cool if Freeman had a voice.
It feels like he just doesn't give a fuck and goes around killing people BECAUSE HE CAN... YEAH!
In all regards Freeman feels too much like a faceless generic FPS character who simply bends over to what everyone tells him to like MW2's Ramirez.
I mean look at CODBO, the story just felt much more better than MW2 because the main character had motivations and personality, whereas in a game like Crysis 2 Alctraz felt extremely lacking compared to Nomad due to a lack of voice. If anything I'd say that the reason Freeman didn't have a voice was because Valve couldn't afford any at the time, and then never bothered to for HL2 or the DLC because the fanboys would bitch that it "ruins the immersion". I personally don't find being a floating gun with no personality "immersing".
are you serious

The whole "immersion" thing isn't something fanboys invented, that was the whole point of that design choice. The way I see it, it doesn't get me into the story more, but it gets me into the game more because it makes me feel more like I'm a part of the game's world. It's the same reason why they have all the NPC's talking to you instead of giving the player story through cutscenes.
I agree with you that giving Gordon a voice wouldn't be such a bad thing, though. Maybe not for the whole game, but if at the end they wanted to give him a line I think that'd be pretty cool.
I thought this one was pretty funny. He gets funny when he acts pissed.

I think something on the scale of Nomad's (Or Noble 6's) lines would be good for Half Life, the character isn't a faceless generic protagonist but isn't some like some cliched movie character that is constantly talking VERY LOUDLY AND VRY FSTLY and constantly fucking swearing... SHIT.
So? Gordon shouldn't have a voice in general, he's a mute internally and externally, and that is the whole point of him
But he doesn't have a voice, all that are just his thoughts. Or do you want Gordon to be braindead as well?
But he doesn't have a voice, all that are just his thoughts. Or do you want Gordon to be braindead as well?
If it doesn't give Gordon his own voice (please note that Gordon was given no voice because they wanted Gordon to be YOU) then yes
If it doesn't give Gordon his own voice (please note that Gordon was given no voice because they wanted Gordon to be YOU) then yes
How would you know his thoughts then?

You don't gotta
You don't gotta
But that's the point of this series.

Yes, the point of Freeman's mind, not Half Life
Your arguments are MAKING NO SENSE, man! It's all circular!

Mine? What the fuck? How are my arguments making no sense? Why am I getting dumbs? I thought FP knew that Gordon was made by Valve to be personality less so that he could be more like you, that he could be you doing those things instead of some guy with his own thoughts and opinions on things. God damn you guys, why would you want Gordon to be voiced? It would take away from that, it would take away from Gordon being you.

VALVe should hire me to voice him then it would feel more like Gordon is me.
Yes, the point of Freeman's mind, not Half Life
Uh, yeah? No shit, this is a thread for an episode of Freeman's mind.

It's hard to be immersed in a game when you are a floating gun who slides along surfaces that happen to be floors.
I don't think some of you get it, Half Life was a pioneer in FPS immersion. A large majority of games prior to it (See: Duke Nukem, all Apogee games. Everything except DOOM, really) had character-based narrative structures and a large helping of pictures to replace loading screens, etc (which is also why a bunch of people whined about Portal 2 having screens during loading). HL1 revolutionised the way a FPS is told by having the character as a vessel for yourself. You are told barely anything about Gordon in the game itself except -
1) You're a scientist
2) You're working on something or other about teleportation
The rest is either easter eggs (Like Gordon's locker) or out-of-game info. The loading screens are also intentionally just pauses in the game to break immersion as little as possible. You don't teleport to new levels like in DOOM, or Quake, you're seamlessly exploring Black Mesa.
It's actually kinda pathetic people don't know this and I'm amazed.

However, someone said that Valve should hire Freeman's Mind guy to voice Gordon, which I detested.

I do believe that's a joke. Besides, an alternative Ross Scott-narrated Half Life would be pretty fun to play.
Dr Strangolov as a porn name is a wonderful idea.
I do agree that he is moving way too slowly through the levels, especially for a "walkthrough". Especially considering the average speed that these episodes are being released at.

I definitely do not mean to be rude towards him, I am sure that the has his reasons.
