I personally had a bad experience with OoT. I never owned an N64, so I didn't grow up with the game, thus didn't have nostalgia for it.
When it came out for 3DS I decided to pick it up. It was a pretty good, and solid game, but the walking was atrocious. This was especially true because you had to continuously walk through Hyrule Garden to get ANYWHERE.
It may seem petty, but I ended up dropping the game when I discovered that I progressed in the game during a "point of no return" moment which resulted in being unable to access Epona early, but instead later in the game.
I was so sick of the walking at this point that I haven't picked the game back up since. Keep in mind that the walking was so frequent, that my thumb had legitimately started to hurt from A: having to walk, and hold down the stick so much, and B: the 3DS thumb stick is shitty, so I am willing to blame that, and not the game entirely.
It has been so long now that I would have to start back from the beginning to get into the flow of the controls, and relearn the story. Too many regrets :(
Boy, if Maddox hates pressing up continuously, he would fucking hate playing Metal Gear Solid 3. :v:

Although I wouldn't put is as extreme as Maddox, I do agree to the extent that I dislike how a lot of games do have just big time wasting sections. (i.e. walking segments, leveling/unlock systems in multiplayer, unskippable cutscenes, etc.) It's one of the reasons that I liked games like the later Call of Duty games, because you're always doing something. As soon as the level starts, you're either fighting something or securing an objective.
A lot of old school games tend to be good for that too. (i.e. Ridge Racer, Ninja Gaiden, Twisted Metal 3, etc.)

Because le funnyman rants and swear. Instant humour
maddox is largely unfunny and i never quite understood why he had such a following here
His old videos were always on spot with his rants. He complained about things that were asking to be complained about. Spider-Womans ass controversy (and its doublestandard), life hacks, talking/making noise in theater. These are the reasons why he was liked back then on this forum.

Kinda like GradeA was, now they're both shit.
How many Maddox videos have you watched?
Because I have watched less than four, and even I am able to instantly interpret that he's being facetious. If you think he is legitimately saying that Ocarina of Time legitimately sucks and people who like it are legitimately idiots, then I'm really not sure what to tell you, other than you're really skewing the point of Maddox by taking his words at face value.
:v:
Like, maybe I'm mistaken here, but I seem to remember people really enjoying Maddox's video on pizza. If I am remembering correctly, then please watch this video, and tell me how his attitude is different between videos.

IIRC this pepperoni pizza video is the turnaround point where people on FP started disliking him.

maddox is like the internet's Howard Stern, for real
he's old, he's tame as fuck now, and further more he's completely out of touch with shit. just like the real Howard Stern, he needs to know when to fuckin' retire because this shit is embarrassing for people like me who have followed him since '99

I always thought from day 0 his content was supposed to be baiting 101, I'm not sure what's different now compared to the pepperoni video or even this one. It's an old muslim looking man getting worked up over what is essentially nothing, and that is and has been the appeal of Maddox for...basically ever?
Whether you agree with what he's saying or dislike the overall core subject, it doesn't matter. The point of his content is it's pointless and highly energetic bitching. He's Alex Jones if Alex Jones was actually self aware. That's what makes him funny.
It's the same content now that it was 10 years ago. "Running out of ideas" isn't a valid argument because the ideas aren't the appeal to the content, the appeal is watching a lunatic complain about nothing.
I used to enjoy Maddox but his "I don't give a shit attitude" that helped him earlier seems to have ended up fucking him. He used to have pretty good arguments and used humour, now the arguments suck and no amount of humour can mask that. It's the exact same thing that happened to GradeAUnderA.
Couldn't agree more.

You do realize this is just promotion for his podcast rather than an actual video.
I actually encourage you guys to try going on a walk in a game.
Don't run, just walk at a slower pace to get from one place to another. Or, just walk around wandering. Really take a while to look at the environments and listen to the music. Running and driving all over the place does a lot to make the maps in games feel not that big at all, but then when you slow down and actually walk at a normal pace like a person does, it sinks in how big these places really are. And, how beautiful the little things around you that you've been going too fast to really notice are.
what are you some kind of video game hippie
If maddox is serious, he's a dumb ass.
If he's joking then, ehh swing and a miss on the humor part

I don't disagree but can you at least explain why he's a dumb ass? Too many games do have excessive walking that doesn't contribute to experience.
One thing I've been dying for is an open-world survival horror game (which doesn't suck). I'm seeing many subpar titles (which might hint at the genre not being a fantastic idea). I love taking in atmosphere.

Dying Light might not be exactly what you're looking for but it's pretty alright.
what are you some kind of video game hippie
Oh my god I am
I spent more time in Skyrim picking flowers than anything else, I've walked across Skyrim's map just to look at scenery, I opt for pacifist runs in any game I can, I main support in overwatch and I've made at least one flower crown in a game
I'm a fucking hippie
Why doesn't he just watch a movie?
Thought he'd be talking about this kinda walking, instead of whatever that was.
I think the problem is that you are forced to hear a conversation that you have no control over, not that the game slows down.
A walking downtime encourages you to shift your focus. Without it, you'd miss a lot of details as adrenaline continues to rush through your body. However, when you are not allowed to interact in the break, you'll just want to get back into the fight. This is one reason why RPGs are loved due to their vast dialogues.
