It seems that CNN and the others are envious of the likes of Colbert, so they decided to make their own funnies... terribly.
Wasn't CNN like really popular and good back then? Jesus. Or is it because all the movies used CNN for their 'News coverage segment' Now they can shit all over the place? Also, you don't fuck with the maori. You simply don't. [editline]13th April 2014[/editline] Oh, she apologized:
A CNN reporter has apologised for her story – titled "The Royal Bummer" – which poked fun at the Maori welcome for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge earlier this week. The apology came after a New Zealander made an official complaint. CNN reporter Jeanne Moos is well known for her satirical take on news stories, but her wrap of the royals' New Zealand welcome has backfired here. Ms Moos has apologised for the tone of the story, saying she wasn't making fun of Maori traditions and was only having fun with the image of a duchess meeting someone she described as a "bare-bottomed warrior in a thong".
American news coverage in a nutshell GG Murica.
FYI, Jeanne Moos is known for off-beat news reporting. This isn't prime-time news either. So, how exactly is that "American news coverage in a nutshell"? It's not. It's not typical American news if someone isn't claiming "Obama! Socialism!" every 30 seconds. Woops! Fox Vice President told everyone on the network to label the President as a socialist even though he knew it wasn't true? Ignore this one:
I don't think people realise how ingrained Maori culture is in standard New Zealand culture.
Your average American who can point out NZ on a map understands that, but CNN is made for the lowest common denominator. It's made for the kind of person who needs bright lights and flashing colors to hold their attention to the news coverage.
American News really has nothing better to cover...
Where did they diss the culture? Obviously they pointed out the massive differences which are a little silly to us, but that isn't offensive I don't think. This entire video was reasonable and seemed to rather enjoy it when leaders met native-type people.
"the royal bummer" "is that any way to welcome a future king and queen??" "forget merely rubbing shoulders with the royals" -said whilst putting her face right up to the camera like she's expecting some laughter or shouted agreement- "mix between a Chippendale lap dance and the mating dance of the emu" "a guy in a thong" it's just incredibly stupid and ignorant reporting. it's not that hard to actually research the culture of a country and it should be expected if you're going to report on it. she acts like a kid seeing tits in a national geographic magazine; it's ridiculous for a professional adult reporter who's part of an extremely large news show and it's insulting to the new zealand culture
the part at 35 seconds where she sticks her face up into the camera and talks shit is one of the reasons I don't have a TV anymore that is to say, I kinda kept throwing beer bottles at my TV whenever I saw ugly stuck-up mugs like hers or Jude Judy's...couldn't afford a new TV

She is a beautiful lady
This whole shitstorm has reminded me to appreciate NZ media. It's, for the most part, like this:
Today a thing happened at this place. Here are some relevant details. Heres bob bobson reporting with an eyewitness who actually knows what they're talking about.
None of this sensationalist spin shit.
i hate her face and i hate her voice so much
Americans tend to just kill off people with similar cultures and take their land, that might explain it
Yes our news media sucks
Seems most of the bullshit you hear getting reported is dumb-ass celebrity news. "OH MY GOD, GUESS WHO'S PREGNANT?! :D" At least 15 million other people in this country, whoopty-fucking-do. I mean congratulations and all, but it's not fucking news. "You'll NEVER guess who's getting divorced!" Two people who made a shitty life decision, can we focus on something important now, please?
so this is what for-profit does to news
Americans tend to just kill off people with similar cultures and take their land, that might explain it
i shot my neighbor and used his computer to make this post murrica
Why do news presenters always talk in that annoying fucking voice?
The British tend to just kill off people with indifferent cultures and take their land, that might explain it
fixed it for you
Your both awful.
I wish we had some cool way to greet guests. There's something about banging of drums and chanting that evokes primal instincts, it really gets in your blood.
I wish we had some cool way to greet guests. There's something about banging of drums and chanting that evokes primal instincts, it really gets in your blood.
Is the traditional viking way of meeting visitors not screaming "FYRIR VAHǪLL!"?
I wish we had some cool way to greet guests. There's something about banging of drums and chanting that evokes primal instincts, it really gets in your blood.
I think a traditional feast hall or whatever you call it would fucking rock.
American media is pretty damn disgusting, this woman should really be fired. Instead of making jokes about the maori's exposed ass, how about talk about how they prince and princess are honoring their culture respectfully. Also why did she put her fuckin snout up in the camera?
I love how well they honoured their culture, mad props to them. I can't believe that the news lady made fun of their pretty awesome culture.
