This isn't right. Stand up or you are not respected here. Don't let her push you around like an item. She may be your mother. It still doesn't mean she can break your human rights.
Listen to this wise man.
Show them this video (inb4 they refuse to watch). Their beliefs are illogical bronze age teachings that they've had pounded into their heads for 40+ years by your grandparents who had the beliefs pounded into their heads etc. They're holding onto their beliefs because they're afraid of the unknown and they want to feel like a benevolent all powerful god has them in his loving grasp. They are too afraid to say "I don't know" so they take the intellectually lazy path of saying "God did it", and that's illogical. They're letting emotions get in the way of logic, and they're narrow minded.
Do the standard logic run-through: If God's capable of doing everything, why does everything still suck? If he wants to help but can't, then he isn't omnipotent, if he can but isn't willing, then he isn't benevolent, if he isn't either then he isn't worth worshiping. Tell 'em that, and laugh all the way to church.
Actually had some moron start an argument in class last year over the Haiti earthquake. She said the earthquake was God's will and He apparently intended to kill all those people and cause suffering. When questioned on her radical beliefs by others in the class, she became extremely hot tempered and began yelling, after which she left the classroom and apparently had dropped the course and never came back. This is the benevolent god your parents worship, the one who apparently decided it would be a good idea to have an earthquake destroy a nation.
Listen to this wise man.
It's not that easy though is it. He's a 15 year old kid and his mother is abusive and insane. I assume he has already attempted to stand up for himself when he asked to not go to church and look what happened, both parents were against him. He needs to seek help, if his father is reasonable but just goes along with his mother because it's easier, then a serious 1-on-1 may snap him out of that. If not then I would honestly look into seeking help from a child protection service, they can offer him advise and maybe even talk to the parents. Considering this is America I would hope they are equipped for a situation like this as it is not uncommon.
Abusive and insane? The fuck are you on?
If he doesn't stand up now he will always have something at the back of his head that makes him feel uneasy. He is 15 so I guess an important part of school is coming up? Yes? Then fight for your human rights back and be totally fine in your tests and get better grades.
Abusive and insane? The fuck are you on?
Imagine if your parents forced you to believe in Islam, and made you smash your property with hammers due to their beliefs.
If you don't like it: Tell your parents that you do not like it, if they respect your views then they will leave it be and not make you read christian books.
Imagine if your parents forced you to believe in Islam, and made you smash your property with hammers due to their beliefs.
Or taught you that you need to worship men in clown suits on sunday and let them rape you as an honor to your clown god. its equally as ridiculous to believe in as any other religion.
Tell your parents if you have to read their books they have to watch your videos. More than enough reason to not believe in god. Also Thor promised a end to all ice giants, Jesus promised a end to all evil people. I don't see any ice giants these days.
Imagine if your parents forced you to believe in Islam, and made you smash your property with hammers due to their beliefs.
I should mention she only did that about 4 years ago. Today, she's not as much of a crazy bitch as she was before. Now she would just take the games she finds bad and give them to our next-door neighbor, or just return them to where they were originally bought.
When they try to push their beliefs on you, counter convert them to a religion of your choice. I recommend a polytheistic religion like belief in the Greek Pantheon. There's much fun to be had here.
Or taught you that you need to worship men in clown suits on sunday and let them rape you as an honor to your clown god. its equally as ridiculous to believe in as any other religion.
That is offensive to my beliefs. How would you feel if I posted about how stupid you are for never knowing the feel of a clown dick?
My parents used to be like this when I first became an atheist, and I pretty much did what TheAmazingAtheist says. I didn't act rude, but I made it very clear that I was an atheist, it is who I am, and if they didn't accept that even though I respect their Christianity, then I don't want anything to do with them. Because let's face it, if your parents are so ignorant that they are trying to force you to believe something that they think is right and punish you for not believing it, they are complete and utter assholes and shouldn't have kids to begin with. If the physchological abuse continues, seek help for it. Surely there has to be some group where you live for minors that needs help at home?
You should totally fake being possessed.
OP, what you need to do is preform a sacrificial pagan ritual, using your mother's bed as a makeshift altar.
Imagine if your parents forced you to believe in Islam, and made you smash your property with hammers due to their beliefs.
Ahahaha oh wow FP "She broke Animal Crossing? That shit is NOT OK! Call Child Protective Services!" There is no law against it. It's HER property anyway, not yours.
It could be like this: 1. Say 'no' to both things 2. Your mom begins yelling like a crazy bitch 3. Shut your ears 4. You win Or this: 1. Say 'no' to both things 2. Your mom begins yelling like a crazy bitch and throws you out of the house 3. Live at a friend 4. You win
Mindfuck them; ask them why they don't pray to help Satan, seeing as he is the biggest sinner of all and one of the main principles of their religion is helping other people. That'll stop 'em.
Start listening to death metal on a boombox on full volume, live in your garage.
use youtube videos by darkmatter2525 and the such to show her the logical fallacies in religion
Don't read the book but tell her you are. This way she's happy because she thinks you're a christian, and you're happy because you still have some freedom. Just lie to your mother [editline]11th September 2011[/editline] Study hard so you can move out of the house after highschool and be on your own sooner. Then tell her you're atheist when she can't control your life anymore
What a thoughtful and original argument, it's not like it was first presented hundreds of years before Christianity ever existed, and there's no possible way anyone could have an explanation or counter-argument!
Well to be honest they have no good counterargument for that so
Why should he have to lie about his beliefs? Let her know.
Don't let yourself do something that goes against yourself just because you're afraid. You know how you feel about it, don't let life get on you. Supposing you're heterosexual, would you let four guys fuck you in the asshole just because they'd probably try to hit you if you didn't let them? It's the same thing. Adolescence is when you build your future self. Try and build a good one.
There's a difference between not letting a bunch of guys I never met before rape me and disobeying my parents that I lived with and known for 15 years. I see your point, though.
Well to be honest they have no good counterargument for that so
Isn't that what free will's about? I don't know, my religion has too much clown rape to really have time for free will.
Play dead island and make them watch.
Like others have said just tell them that they should just respect your decision and not make a big deal about it, also tell them that if their is a God that you would be forgiven and not go to hell for not believing. Seriously this is what i never understood about American Christians, why do they believe that God is a bitch who is going to kill and throw everyone into Hell for doing one small minor thing. While Christians in other countries can be understanding and believe in a God that's compassionate and they respect other peoples religions and beliefs. This is also coming from a Christian, seriously, America should just re name their beliefs to be another branch of Christianity as most of the time it's completely different from what most other Christians in other countries believe in.
Mindfuck them; ask them why they don't pray to help Satan, seeing as he is the biggest sinner of all and one of the main principles of their religion is helping other people. That'll stop 'em.
Didn't Mark Twain say something about that? Edit:
Well to be honest they have no good counterargument for that so
The best I've ever heard someone come up with is that God's beyond logic so there's no point to dissecting their beliefs. That's bullshit, because then he'd be able to create a world in which we were both free to act and unable to sin against him.
Same boat dude.
Sadly, I don't think my mom's going to change her mind anyway, especially since she made my brother break Animal Crossing: Wild World with a hammer just because there was fortune tell in it, which basically shows how religious she is.
WHAT KILL THAT BITCH VIOLENTLY [editline]11th September 2011[/editline] THEN USE HER INTESTINES AS A FEATHER BOA
