Literally nobody cares except you. The story had already concluded, it's just a little joke for pre-credits. Chill out Mr. narrative-nazi.

"Yeah, guys, look at this dumb nerd caring about structure of a movie and character development, better call him Mr. Narrative-Nazi to showcase my moral superiority, haha, right, guys?"
If that was the case they should have showcased his "growth" during or after the montages and flash-forwards after his training. Shoehorning in something that completely contrasts previously given character traits is objectively lazy from a narrative point of view. If it was a character trait that came from him "becoming a Kingsman" (which, last time I checked, had a lot to do with being a gentleman and very little to do with womanizing), then they had plenty of time to establish that character development. But they didn't. They settled on jamming it into the last minute, making it a total inconsistency from the previous setup. It's a jarring and unnecessary addition that added absolutely nothing to his character and just made for a very strange, and out-of-place scene in a movie with otherwise very finely crafted structure.

I should add that it doesn't help at all that the Princess' line and delivery is beyond cringey. "If you save the world, we can do it in the asshole!". Who the fuck wrote that and thought it was a good way to end the film?
i don't think it is really out of character for a guy to be excited about doing anal with a swedish princess
[editline]25th April 2017[/editline]
to me it doesn't seem like something that needs to be set up and doesn't detract from his character, either
I personally thought the ass joke was pretty fucking funny, but I can totally see someone not enjoying it.
Then again, I've seen some people say that that joke was one of the things that completely ruined the movie for them and that's just something I can't for the life of me wrap my head around.

Take a chill pill my dude. Why stifle movie discussion like this anyway? We all know it's ultimately subjective, it's you who's making this overly negative

ya know, I can barely remember the movie but I understood it as the princess wanted sum fuk and eggsy was just the nearest man for the job
I thought that the whole casual sex thing signified the ascent into the campy James Bond type spy. Just as the evil lair became a Roger Moore evil villain volcano lair Eggsy became the entire campy package. Granted, he's not a perfect fit and he's in a different age (the women are just as empowered as the men, hence why she initiates) but the point is that without casual pointless sex he wouldn't be a Bond.
Execution was a bit off though.

How a pre-credits joke in an action-comedy affects character development or story structure is genuinely a dumb nerd thing to care about.
Red Band version
Lmao the only thing different in the red band trailer is that Eggsy says "... fuck me" at the end rather than Merlin saying "Harry?"
I hope they at least reference how many people were murdered at the end of the last one :v:
actually you're the one who completely misses the point of character development - he's grown from a clumsy idiot to a kingsman much like the man who taught him but with the ideals and personality traits of a modern man, but because of his class he's perfectly capable of bedding any woman he wants now
a character doesn't have to be an estabilished womanizer to womanize later down the line
I'm the last person to cry sexism but "being a modern gentleman means you can 'bed' any woman you want" sounds like such sexist bullshit I feel like the oldest neckbeard at the Magic the Gathering tournament just said that to the younger ones while wiping Cheetos dust off on his fedora. If that was the message it's a miracle the movie didn't get ripped to shreds in the press.
It was a cheesy wink to the audience, James Bond, the campy "Spy Agent" trope and I thought it fit pretty well. Eggsy wasn't "womanizing" in that instance, I don't get how it's being sold as that or seen as that but that's not what I'd call it.

I don't think it was either, but that's how Egevened presented it.

Sorry to break it to you, but this "dumb nerd thing" is why you enjoyed the movie in the first place, and the violation of it is why the ending was bad. I'm so sorry for taking it seriously.
So, to direct the conversation slightly off from the discussion of the Princess-fucking being off-character, I personally feel like they sort of undermined the tone of the film with it.
Throughout the entire film, they beat the viewer over the head with "Hey this isn't a Bond film." And then the agent fucks the Princess anyways, in classic Bond fashion.
I think it would have been far more tonally consistent if he either awkwardly denied her request, or was humorously denied it through some external circumstances. Would have kept the film in line with the "not-Bond" theme they had going on.
And I think it would have been funnier, too, which I think would have been a loftier note to end the film on. The hero getting the girl is a drab cliche at this point, in my opinion.

That is a bad way to think about things. The dumb nerd thing is what separates good movies from bad movies. The joke didn't ruin the film for me but it was unnecessary/sort of rushed.

But it is different. Bond never fucked anyone in the ass.
I thought it was not Bond of him the way he did it. Bond always seduces the woman, here he just asked her for a kiss just to see if he could get away with it and she let him fuck her out of gratitude
Is it me or do the writers of these movies have some kind of major beef with amputees?

this is bullshit and we all know it, statistically speaking Bond fucked at least one of the girls he rescued in the ass

Did we watch the same film? They joke about trying to divert the cliche and tropes all the time but still end up falling into them, entirely on purpose and self-aware as a show that Eggsy was growing into this Bond-esque character.
Eggsy's last line to Valentine is a play on the whole pun/joke before they kill the villain, saying that its not that kind of film, that being the meta-Bond joke in of itself as a reference to what Harry had said earlier, showing he'd ascended to that Bond-esque hero.
I think the first film was fun but it had a bit of a tone issue. Some parts were subversive and self-aware but others were kinda played straight and by the numbers from what I remember (namely the boot camp and the satellite thing).
I don't think the anal thing was bad on its own but it felt a bit jarring in a movie that didn't feel 100% committed to being a parody up until that point.

So that's what she meant when she simultaneously called Bond a "pain in the ass" and told him "don't cock it up"!

Actually I liked Kingsmen due to how well timed the comedy was, and the pre-credits bit didn't change that.
