He wasn't insanely popular, and didn't have 13 year old girls going crazy over him, it wasn't until he got famous.
I guess some people like how he sings (mainly young girls, for obvious reasons, and certain lovers of pop that don't care how produced, or fake something may be.)
So needless to say I don't really know how i feel about him. I would like to support a local star, its cool that he's from here, but i just don't think i can. I don't support other "stars" like him(or most pop sensations), and won't just because his from my city, i mean i'm not gonna support all the horrible people that live in every city including mine, just cause they are here. Not that i think he's a horrible person, just I get annoyed about how much people obsess about him, and want to know him, and be his girlfriend(especially the millions of 13 year old girls that think this random person intimately cares about them in a very persional way) , etc... when its not that interesting, he's a normal kid. Most people I know here absolutely hate him, in every way, shape, and form. And I don't think most of the young teenagers even care here (unless they don't know his history and where he is from) as they probably knew him at one point, other than for the fact that its interesting that he is so famous, and from our city.

Plus they're all girls (I hope) so any guy would love that , especially for selfish reasons (If he could even be considered male). As for donating to charity, whatever, he's got a so much money it doesn't matter (at least based on the amount of mindless teenage girl fans he has, he better). Doing that kind of thing is also great for PR.
I mainly doubt how much of a good person he is based on everything I gather from people here in his hometown, and what I saw of him when he was not so famous, or liked and attended my school in our hometown of Stratford. Some of this I already stated:

I find he has an annoying voice, he really isn't as talented as people make him out to be (just because you're young doesn't mean you can pass off an average song for great) and he's just an annoying twat with an ego.
Personally I fucking hate him, but that's just cause I don't like music where they sing about love and stuff like that. Unless it's old stuff like Marvin Gaye or Barry White, then it's great.
