This film always made me feel sick after watching it. I am talking about the original, there was some truly puke worthy bits.
That trailer did nothing to avert my fear that it will be just another generic "Young adults attacked by monsters" horror movie.
have you seen the original?
I've seen enough hentai to feel at home with this one.
Why do we like this stuff
This just feels like a really bad reboot of another beloved series that didn't need to be touched again. Evil Dead was a brilliant trilogy that consistently delivered over each movie, adding something new and taking the story in unusual directions every time. This just feels like more bland Hollywood shlock.
Except it's quite clear from everyone involved and how they're approaching it that it's not just some blatant studio-driven movie? The info we have now and the footage give us more positives than negatives. If Bruce Campbell, the guy who condemned the remake in the first place is now actually positive about it, then so am I.
never going to beat the original
not even going to come close
it's like a short, fat midget child attacking yao ming
I thought the original Evil Deads were a great mix of comedy and horror. This just looks like horror.
No groovy, no moovee.
*kidding*
It looks okay, but will definitely lack the charm of the originals.

it hints to the tree rape scene so it might not be 100% horror. The original wasn't THAT humorous to be honest, evil dead 2 was. So it might still have that funny undertone.
Except that it's pretty much being made by the people behind the original movies?

but its produced by Bruce Campbell. a ton of the special effects made me cringe, the first time in a long time for a movie based around horror.
That doesn't mean the movie's actually going to be any good. Steven Spielberg was behind Crystal Skull and that movie was dog shit because Spielberg was too old to still get what Indiana Jones was all about. What I'm getting from the trailer is that this is the exact same movie as Evil Dead except it looks a little more like every other horror movie these days because it's got to draw in a new audience to a cult franchise for the sake of making a bunch more money.
If that trailer/the movie at all had slapstick humour like Evil Dead 2 did people wouldn't make a single complaint.
The first film had next to no humor and basically functioned as a generic horror but it got its status due to how shocking it was at the time. People cling to ED2 so much they seem to magically forget what the first was really all about.

Exactly. It's a remake of Evil Dead 1, which is a gorefest featuring teenagers. But considering that's become generic, and The Cabin In The Woods parodied it, it's easy to look down on this remake.
The charm of the first Evil Dead movie was that it was what it was, I just get the vibe that this incarnation is going to add nothing of value to the ED franchise. I hope I'm wrong, I'd love for it to be as excellent as the original but what I've seen doesn't fill me full of hope. Maybe I'm jaded but the film feels like it's cashing in on nostalgia, as so many others have done in the past decade.
Well at the very least it looks like it has really awesome effort put into the gore make up, hopefully it's a good film.
