Actually, I've entered in a couple speedball tournaments, and dozens and dozens of weekend skirmishes. Oh my god are the people ever elitist. The kids that were a tier above us were always talking down to us, and giving us shit for not being as "pro" as them. Even in casual games there's always people who are overly competitive and trash talk all the fucking time. No one really ever helps anyone else out unless they came together in a party or they know each other.
Then I went airsofting for the first time, and oh my god was that ever different. My SRC AKM broke down early in the day, and I was worried that I paid into this event and not get to actually play the entire day. Then this random fucking guy just lent me his $500 gun to use for the day. No questions asked or anything. He saw my gun stop working mid-game, so he left the field to go to his car and grabbed me his spare gun, with a couple spare mags. Then when that ran out of battery, some other random guy threw me his handgun to use, even let me use his gas and bb's.
Plus, there was just a lot more interesting people to talk to in airsoft. It's a nice change from the monotonous paintball crowd.
Maybe it's because airsoft is just growing in Canada, but there really is a huge sense of community in airsoft. Even after attending a couple local games, people start messaging me on the forums and I already know a couple people's names.
I'm not sure of your background but I think you're generalizing Paintball and it's players way too much. I'm not trying to cause any sort of shitstorm, but you are pretty much trying to define the players of two entire sports based solely on what you have experienced, and trying declare one group is better than the other because somebody lent you a gun.
We aren't all self centered, annoying, or elitist tournament pricks. Those kinds of people are the cancer of paintball.
Niko isn't generalizing at all. He's talking about people in HIS COMMUNITY AND HIS COMMUNITY ONLY.

Well, duh. Read two posts above please.

He made no statement nor implication that he was referring to his local community only. The way he worded his post made it sound like he was referring to the community abroad. Especially the last paragraph and the sentence highlighted in bold.
Quote so he cannot edit.
Well, of course. Overall, I've spent a lot more time paintballing than airsofting, but right here where I live, at the places I play, airsofting has a lot more cool dudes.
