When I want to get drunk on wine I buy a liter of white wine blend in a carton for like 60 cents. Can get you quite drunk easily and cheap.

Totally agree with this, while I'm in full support of scientific discoveries in medicine/healthcare, there's always this little doubt at the back of my mind if in the long run it's going to benefit society.
We need to start putting more money into space exploration and populate some planets.
also Drive has a shit hot soundtrack
the only way for our society to advance and evolve as an organism is for us to form new societies within it and then, maybe one day split it off into it's own thing.
Space exploration and colonization would be perfect, but america is a weird organism. They're the big bad rebel that decided it didn't want to be a part of the colonizing, expanding beast of a empire that was the brittish, and that has made them in the long run VERY patriotic and self centered. The american organism is very egotistical towards it self, they don't want to expand, they want to make the most of what already is.
If only the brittish were still mass expansion focused, there really isn't any nation in the world that, as a people, are really wanting to expand in general...
so yeah, we should be exploring space and starting new societies to see where they go, but the types of societies that were capable of that seem to have died off or become something else entirely

america became the rebel teenager that doesn't even care about making friends, but just wants to show off to make himself happy

where as the mother is now going through or has gone through, idk.. a menopause of sorts, britain doesn't want to expand anymore, and compared to other nations is now very old and, in all honesty, probably soon to die.
and look at europe, most of their nations went through points of trying to expand and spread themselves out, then eventually became stable in one place and now co-exist happily..
It's only a matter of time before one of the newer nations grows up and tries to expand, it's an asexual method of breeding of sorts I suppose, I'm guessing america will eventually get to that point with, you guessed it, space exploration.
On the earth it was a fight for space, but with space exploration (literally, exploring and trying to send out it's seed to start a new extension of itself which will eventually split off) that shouldn't be as big an issue, especially if america is the only one that gets there in our lifetimes
