He's depressed. Anti-Depressants, yo.
all anti depressants today are placebos, that would be fine if they didnt also mess you up in other ways. whatever you do, dont give him anti depressants. [editline]21st April 2011[/editline]
What about introducing him to FPV
wow this sounds like a fantastic idea [editline]21st April 2011[/editline] FPV is first person view btw, you have goggles or something and you see the model plane as if you were in the cockpit... there was a thread here not long ago about it
It's easy! Invent a cure for multiple sclerosis!
thats dumb, your dumb
lol
http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Category/Id/3667/Name/Top_Flying_Gifts?cm_re=flying_experiences-_-Images-_-top_flying_gifts Loads of flying experiences on there, you don't have to be able to fly them as well If you want I have a voucher from that McDonald's monopoly thing for 20% off that I could PM you
Thanks for the webpage, it looks really useful. :D
Hey, you should get him that first-view model airplane. Might make him feel more free.
I asked him and he said the goggles might be a problem, my dad might like the idea but his problem is not telling you. Suprise fathers day gift?
Find the FPV thread and pm the maker and see if there's someway that you don't need the goggles they might have a solution for you.
I'm sure he can put up with them, he said it just can be dodgy if they fail and your very expensive plane goes Hindenburg.
-snip- oops
I'm sure he can put up with them, he said it just can be dodgy if they fail and your very expensive plane goes Hindenburg.
You should talk to him about building one yourself. That way, even if one does go wrong then you can try and fix it.
Buy him some model planes so it will keep his mind off of his MS while he makes them.
Tell your mom to dress up in a jet fighter costume when they next time have sex. Epic lols guaranteed
Well then, he could just test them on a safe spot. And add a GPS tracker to it. And some airbags and shit, I dunno.
buy a plane and crash it into ur house (User was banned for this post ("Shitposting" - Autumn))
ey guys i just got gold member and decided to shit up the forums after spending 99% of my time in gmf lol
So why can't he sit in a plane? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with MS. [editline]22nd April 2011[/editline] I mean, what are the physical limits of his abilities to do things? [editline]22nd April 2011[/editline] For example, you could learn to fly with him in the back of C172. A private license (VFR qualified) is about 25 hours, at around 200 an hour for fuel, rental and instruction. I'm assuming that, as he builds the models, he is still capable with his hands, so he could control the ailerons and elevators if you were to take him up. He would need you to handle landing and takeoff because of the rudder use, but even so. It's not really a short-term 'gift', but I can't think of anything that would make him happy and show that you love him more than that. You'd also improve your relationship, as you can talk about planes, and you would be able to take him up even when his condition deteriorates.
Get him some weed and tell him that you want to help him with his MS and when it gets very bad you just make him feel better every day :)
You know in most cases weed worsens depression, right? I honestly can't tell if sarcastic or just stupid.
Basicly his hands are very numb, along with one of his legs. Flying a plane would be a bit difficult. Also, he builds all his planes anyway. Right now he is in our shed building a new plane.
Tell your mom to put out more.
When my dad was 23, he broke 4+ discs in his spine rendering him legally disabled for the rest of his life, making it impossible to get a job. He currently has a machine inside his stomach that pumps morphine into his spine every once in a while; and has to have a lot of surgery on his back, as well as a developing heart condition at the tender age of 54. My father has a passion for carpentry and attempts, and succeeds greatly, at constructing add-ons to our house (back porch/handicap ramp/counters/flooring, etc)... sadly enough as he gets older, his back gets worse, and the things he loves to do begin to succumb to a staggering halt and I have to agree that it's extraordinarily depressing seeing your father, the man you look up to and love to the ends of the Earth, is beginning to break emotionally and physically. I feel your pain and it's unbearable seeing your dad like this... It's heart breaking, concerning, and everyday you wish that everything could just... Be okay... Y'know? I honestly wish there was something I could do for you and your father... Sadly, the only thing I can do at this point is pray that he achieves his dreams of doing what he desires most... And that's where you can step in and make sure he gets there in the best manner you, and him, see fit... And have it... No other way...
I'm sure he can put up with them, he said it just can be dodgy if they fail and your very expensive plane goes Hindenburg.
Some place called Hobby King apparently makes foam aircraft so that might be easier if he's worried about planes getting damaged and such.
I'm sure he can put up with them, he said it just can be dodgy if they fail and your very expensive plane goes Hindenburg.
There's autopilots and such with built in fail-safe mode. If you lose control the aircraft can automatically fly back to it's takeoff position or just circle and wait. http://fpv-community.com/testblog/2010/fy21ap/ If he likes electronics and stuff this might actually be a good hobby since the electronics aboard RC aircraft are becoming more and more sophisticated every day. [editline]22nd April 2011[/editline] Here's a startup guide: http://fpv-community.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=195&pid=1506
I'm very sorry to read this, I do hope that your dad can have fun with the FVP idea though, it's the closest he can get to flying a real plane without having to go through flightschool and all that.
I still think anti-depressants are the way to go. Tell him they're plane-pills. Say pilots eat them.
Get him a flight-sim rig.
