Stephen's father's name is Richard and Stephen's son's name is Zeke. If the man in the picture is his son then this is how it works out: Zeke's father is Stephen's father's son. Stephen is Stephen's father's son. Stephen is Richard's son. Stephen is Stephen. Otherwise if the man in the picture is himself, this is how it works out: Stephen's father is Stephen's father's son. Richard is Stephen's father's son. Richard is Richard's son. Richard is Stephen. Conclusion, Richard does not equal Stephen, Stephen equals Stephen. Therefore the first way described was correct which makes the man in the picture Stephen's son. The answer is his son, unless someone can prove to me how it is himself and break all my understandings of life and logic.
Reposted My Father = Stephen's dad Stephen's father's son = Stephen Stephen = This man's father Therefore Stephen must be the father of whoever is in the picture. [editline]11:08PM[/editline] The answer to the riddle is Google. [editline]11:10PM[/editline] And that your instructor is retarded, drop out of that class.
No the instructor is not retarded. The man in the picture is Stephen.
No the instructor is not retarded. The man in the picture is Stephen.
I just gave you an explanation and so did the guy above your post. It is Stephen's son. His instructor clearly is retarded for leading a critical thinking class and giving a question he/she knew no correct answer to.
No the instructor is not retarded. The man in the picture is Stephen.
Prove it.
Prove it.
Stephen is Jesus.
I give up :saddowns:
He was looking at a man, right? And he said he has no brother or sister. "But this man's father is my father's son." Imagine "this man" as Stephen.
Stephens is his own father? Spoiler alert: [sp]So Stephen IS Jesus[/sp]
Flawed logic. He was referring to the person in the photograph.
He was looking at a man, right? And he said he has no brother or sister. "But this man's father is my father's son." Imagine "this man" as Stephen.

Everyone else was responding 'himself', so I tried that too: my father = my father's son
Fuck Stephen's father is Jesus my bad.
Wait. Stephen's father is his father's son?
Maybe there are more possibilites? I'm confused.
Fuck Stephen's father is Jesus my bad.
Oh of course. How did I miss that?
Maybe there are more possibilites? I'm confused.
Stephen's father's son = Stephen, correct? So Stephen's father's son is this man's father. So Stephen is that man's father. So this man is Stephen's son.
Oh and @Klown and Billiam. I was wrong but come on, it's 5AM here :colbert:
he was looking at his own son... "but this man's father is my father's son." So, whose picture was Stephen looking at? the man in the picture, his father is stephen.
Ahh now I get it!:eng101: Yeah the man on the picture is Stephen's son.:buddy: OP, go prove that instructor wrong :buddy:(And thank Facepunch, too) [editline]05:30AM[/editline] Although wait...aren't there 2 possibilities?:saddowns:
Although wait...aren't there 2 possibilities?:saddowns:
Doubt it, but if you explain we'll do our best to prove/disprove it.
Although wait...aren't there 2 possibilities?:saddowns:
Stephen's father is Jesus.
It's his mother.
We're all retarded :smith:

Snip-
In order to explain this to your teacher, OP,change Stephen's father's name to John. New statement:
Stephen was looking at a photo. Someone asked him, "Whose picture are you looking at?" He replied: "I don't have any brother or sister, but this man's father is John's son. John is my father." So, whose picture was Stephen looking at?
We've established John=Stephen's father. Picture person's father=son of John. Son of John=Stephen. Therefore, Stephen is the father of picture person. Picture person=Stephen's son.
"I don't have any brother or sister, but this man's father is my father's son."
It is Stephen's son. Just replace what you know. We know "my father's son." is himself.
"I don't have any brother or sister, but this man's father is me (Stephen)"
So point at someone, and say that his/her dad is me. That means it's your offspring, and the riddle says man. It is his son.
Are you failing the class?
He is his own Grandfather.
I guess we can all agree that Stephen is an asshole for saying this?
Are you failing the class?
It just started. So I hope not.
It just started. So I hope not.
Oh well, best of luck to you because this wasn't exactly a hard problem. Not trying to be an ass or anything. Then again it is a class where you learn things so I'm sure you'll do fine.
