Wasn't this the documentary where someone said that competitive gaming didn't exist 10 years ago
Free To Play honestly doesn't fit the movie. I'd prefer it if it was called E-Sports or something. [editline]21st March 2014[/editline]
Wasn't this the documentary where someone said that competitive gaming didn't exist 10 years ago
Yeah.. the ESEA would Concur.
Yeah.. the ESEA would Concur.
They'd.... be horribly wrong??? Like Quake was released in 1996, 18 years ago, and competitive gaming existed before that even. It's certainly become more popular but to say it didn't exist is so batshit loony you might as well be joking
I think that when people talk about competitive gaming, they mean the massive tournaments of today. I don't know if Quake and such had those but I doubt it. Competition in gaming has always existed but not like this.
Well of course it's going to be smaller, but there were still massive tournaments way before this movie arbitrarily decided to place competitive gaming's start. Dreamhack in 1999 had 3000 guests, 5 years before they said competitive gaming didn't exist. Hell even before multiplayer games over IP were even a thing people had tournaments and competitions for arcade games with high scores monitored by judging boards, there's some documentaries about them that are pretty interesting.
You know what, some times despite being his fan, i would slice our dear Synderen´s balls for that statement.
You know what, some times despite being his fan, i would slice our dear Synderen´s balls for that statement.
I think it could have been worded better as in 'wasn't THIS big' ''Recently, esports has gone through tremendous growth, incurring a large increase in both viewership and prize money.Although large tournaments were founded before the 21st century, the number and scope of tournaments has increased significantly, going from about 10 tournaments in 2000 to about 260 in 2010' And '. While competitions before around the year 2000 were largely between amateurs,' And remember this movie was made in 2011.
Wasn't this the documentary where someone said that competitive gaming didn't exist 10 years ago
"Wasn't even a thing" --> "Wasn't a major thing" --> "had to go download really abysmal quality movie files that maybe worked off some obscure website" --> "people actually make a living off of it right now." It's not literal "IT CLEARLY DID NOT EXIST EVER".
Finally, a good video game documentary. This is miles better than Indie Game: The Movie.
