I think what it is going on is this: "shock" material is nothing new, like others have said, who these days hasn't seen worse shock stuff online? What is going on though is a lot of people are still homophobic deep down inside. They are scared of waking up one day and discovering they are gay. They are scared of someone in the theater noticing them looking TOO closely at the penis. Most of all, they identify with the objects of Bruno's ridicule- the gay converter/hunters/focus group people. Example: Instead of being able to have a good laugh at the hunters' reactions, they really sympathize with the hunters, and that means they can't enjoy the joke. Whereas I, if I was somehow tricked into being in a focus group like that, would be on the floor with tears in my eyes from laughing after seeing that 'Harrison Ford' interview show. It would be too hilarious to be pissed off and outraged like those uptight people were.
Where I live there is no 18 limit, 15 is the highest.
This place has the right idea.
It sure does, ThisGuy0
It's 15+ here, totally uncensored too.
Totally uncensored? Really?
I'm guessing you're not from some hick town then ?
Sadly no, Texas. Home of the Homophobes. But anyways, did anyone else feel that the movie was a bit too short?
I loved that Psychic Scene
I was crying with laughter when the penis started swinging around on the screen.
Ich was going to become the biggest Austrian superstar since Hitler.
Yeah, I'm sorry but I found it hilarious. The part where he pitches the show to the TV execs, and then the dong just swings around onscreen and the urethra opens up and goes "BRUUUNOOOO" I'm sorry, but it's like, childish humor at best. Though the second part of it kinda got meaningful with the whole "there are no gay superstars" thing. [editline]09:46PM[/editline]
I loved that Psychic Scene
Also yeah, that was the epitome of awkward. But my favorite was the line he said after bruno had finished up.
I'm back from seeing it with a bunch of friends. Oh my. This was the most funniest movie I have ever seen and I couldn't stop laughing, right from the terrible Scooter song in the beginning to Elton John sitting on a mexican in the end. I could post my favorite quotes and go all "And it was so funny when he ..." But why should I. I just want to say something about the climax of the movie, the wrestling scene. I think this scene was great, it wasn't so much funny but more of a social experiment. I was actually a bit moved, something I would have expected the least. The funny part of this scene was of course not the two men making out in the ring, but the response of the homophobic crowd around them. But for most of the other people in the cinema it was different, they thought the gay action was awkward and disgusting and let out noises of disgust mixed with awkward laughter. It was quite revealing to me.
The "exclusive interview" with Harrison Ford was lolworthy.
What i have seen Cannot be unseen
snap
Straight Daves manslammin was my favorite part
This movie sucked. Not worth the cash. Except for some parts. Like Ron paul, and Harrison ford. The rest is pretty boring and gay.
This movie sucked. Not worth the cash. Except for some parts. Like Ron paul, and Harrison ford. The rest is pretty boring and gay.
ewww gay. God dammit, people are so scared of homosexuality and it bothers the fuck out of me.
I might buy a matinee ticket just to laugh at peoples reactions to all the gay shit. [editline]01:34PM[/editline]
ewww gay. God dammit, people are so scared of homosexuality and it bothers the fuck out of me.
Because everyone is a homophobic intolerant shithead. :argh:
It was one huge reaction movie and derived its commentary from that. I loved the movie. It was half hilarity and half awkwardness, but Cohen managed to make some really dumb social norms look like the absurdities they are. There were four people in the theatre, including me. One couple, and one twentysomething dude that walked out at the credits saying, "I don't know why I even sat through that whole movie, but whatever." Worth the :10bux:
ewww gay. God dammit, people are so scared of homosexuality and it bothers the fuck out of me.
Wel i don't have to like gays do i?
I think for anyone saying this is less funny than Borat because he was playing a SUPER gay, in Borat he played a completely exaggerated foreigner, so it's much the same.
I found it funnier than Borat, I can't say I've found a movie that funny in a long time. Well worth getting it on DVD.
The penis part was probably the most awkward I've ever felt in a movie theater. That said, amazing movie, I've never laughed so much. I actually clapped for joy a few times, and I'm usually dead silent in a movie. Everyone was laughing out loud. As we left, I remember some guy saying "Well I'm going to go jerk it to some titties now to make up for that"

Now the psychic session, that was rather awkward.
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen, a few people even walked out when the bruno version of meatspin came on.
Oh wow the amount of people insecure about their sexuality amuses me. On topic: The movie was one of the best I've ever seen. The fighting arena scene is fucking oscar-worthy.
I just saw the beginning then i stop seeing it. It was really gay, and if someone don't like gay people. I don't recommend you to see this movie.

oh shit penises, run away!11!11ddf
That wasn't awkward at all, it was funny as hell and I couldn't stop laughing. Now the psychic session, that was rather awkward.
Only scene in the movie I felt applied to people's complaints. Beyond that it was hilarious.
