Argh, the modeling in 3DS Max is so fucking weird, but I'll continue learning it. Any more tutorials? I've found that I'm especially lousy at following video tutorials, as I need to memorize actions in the video, and then go to the program and perform them, while with text, I can retain info much easier, and I don't have to rewind the video if I've missed something. If anyone has any tutorials that helped them start out, I'd be grateful. I don't need stuff that explains 3D in general, as I know most of the terms dealing with 3D and computers, (I haven't met a challenge dealing with terms/functions in 3DS Max yet), and the UI isn't too much of an issue, but hotkeys will take some time to get used to, (Not used to a split viewport). How do I make the UI color scheme brighter in general? It seems a bit dark, and some colors conflict with widgets and such. Again, any simple tutorials that explain every or nearly every aspect in detail. I'm not yet to the point where I can find every button with a few clicks.
Try 3DBuzz's videos. And I assume you're using the 2010? There should be an option to go back to the old skin.
I started making an (hate to use this word) 'epic' bridge that stretched as far as the eye can see over an ocean with waterfalls; but 3DS Max / Vue 7 integration kept fucking up so I'm starting something completely unrelated. I'll post if I get it done by the end of the day.
Make it light up :buddy: [editline]09:01AM[/editline] What happened with the bridge?
I'm currently rendering a scene with it lit.

To make a plane just convert to editable poly. Or use the extrude modifier while it's a spline to make a perfect little extruded ma-bob.
When I do either of these the splines disappears... Arg... Why am I having so much trouble with something that should be so simple...
Yea...
well this is the very first tutorial i used when i started modeling, i found it incredibly useful http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/creating-a-weapon-for-source
God, I've been trying to download this but it keeps on timing out since i download at roughly 10 kb/s.
Yea...
Is your spline closed?
Speaking of splines, i made this totally "awesome" thing with a script that converts particles to splines. I can't wait to play around with this some more. :3:
God, I've been trying to download this but it keeps on timing out since i download at roughly 10 kb/s.
i just finished downloading it, im following it towmarrow :D

It got a lot of useful scripts. And now make some wallpapers using this script :D
Has anyone done anything with the Unreal Engine 3 editor? I just bought UT3, (For the editor), and I was wondering if anyone on here has done anything with it.
Has anyone done anything with the Unreal Engine 3 editor? I just bought UT3, (For the editor), and I was wondering if anyone on here has done anything with it.
At school, yes a long time a go. I kinda like it but i also hate it because it crashes often.
I swear, a lot of this is game or movie worthy.
What happened with the bridge?
Nothing with the bridge, but Vue 7 kept fucking up on everything so I scrapped it because it is rather hard to do huge environments with regular 3DS Max.
Has anyone done anything with the Unreal Engine 3 editor? None of us had any prior experience in it. :P I can say it's a lot better than Source for example. But the lack of singleplayer campaign is a huge minus. It's all just deathmatch but the engine itself is great although a bit buggy for what we tried to do with it. Dynamic lights for example are a nightmare.

Another render of my lightbulb. The render is not done yet. The image is 1920x1080

Aint that from that model pack for crysis?
Aint that from that model pack for crysis?
Nope, just one buildings for my project.
i always like your models and textures ajacks, good work.
i always like your models and textures ajacks, good work.
As do I. Always top notch!

Dynamic lights for example are a nightmare.
Its quite powerful, but when I used it for a tech camp thing, it was frustrating at points. I don't believe you could drag the edges of brushes to resize them, only through typing in numbers (Though maybe i'm wrong...) And I think that when ever you changed anything, it turns off dynamic lighting until you rebuild. Correct me if i'm wrong with anything, that was a year ago.
How did you make them glow?
I used mental rays camera glare.
I fail to setup vray physical camera. When I render perspective, I see all my scene, when I render from camera, it shows nothing.
I fail to setup vray physical camera. When I render perspective, I see all my scene, when I render from camera, it shows nothing.
Try to turn off the Vignetting and exposure check boxes.
Hey nvidia do you know how to get camera motion into max? In one tutorial I saw a dude was using camera motion recorded from his real camera. I mean, not character animation, but how camera moves. That way he had nice and realistic movement of camera. I would like to know what software could possibly do that? Motion track and then export as something that max could import.
