It's a step to the better then I guess. But don't use any kind of smoothing, instead, model that curve.

I didn't mean geometry smoothing, although it needs that too. I meant smoothing groups are way messed up.

If you are, I recommend using Raytrace shadows, they're much more precise and nice. Either way, great model.

Hi guys, I'm at "Assembly Summer 2009" It's a huge LAN party kind of event, ~3000 peoples have brought their computers into this huge hall to have fun and stuff.

The point of Assembly is not to play games, really. Or it didn't use to be. It was originally a demoscene meeting, it still has demo, music, graphics and game competitions. I wasn't even aware that it was on.

I want to start modeling badly, but whenever I get in about a month, I see an amazing model and someone saying "I did this in 1 hour, this was my second model ever!" Then I take a look at my shitty mess and go, "Well to hell with it, this isn't my thing."

If you really want and like to model, just go on, time doesn't matter while you're learning, unless you're very old.
