It doesn't make clay render that way, does it?
No, though using the catmul-rom setting with advanced lightning with a colored omni with a grey material applied can create some amazing effects:
Some freaking file corruption set me back a few hours, so I took the liberty to improve the textures of the concrete, plus some minor glitches.

So, what do you think about it now?
How's that even possible, your system should have shut down automatically long before any critical temperatures.
Submitted this as my final project for my Digital Environments class at college, got 80% :)

Contains no mesh smoothing, but I never got round bump mapping the Tie Fighter wing and making a kind of grate texture for it, which is why it looks flat.

Yeah its my 3rd model, still a WIP
Also that awesome Ace!

For a third model that looks pretty good, keep it up.
OK who rated him disagree? Somebody want to say whats wrong with it besides saying, "It doesn't look good don't ever model again!"

It's made out of primitive shapes. I don't see anything good there.
Which model, it doesn't matter.
It depends how long you work on each of them.

Stop being such a bitch.
Stop being such a bitch.
I am not a bitch, just an opinion. If you think it's good, I am fine with it. One 16x16 image shouldn't make anyone go raging.

I am not raging, I just think we should encourage beginners, that's all.

You're right. I was being a dumb bitch.

Ok well Lasers look retarded, so I started on this, though I'm not sure what its going to be.
Make it an UMP, that would be badass.

That's extremely blocky. It looks like something that was cut out of a block of wood.
Yeah I dont really know how to add details very well
Looks like you're doing what all beginners do, make flat silhouettes of stuff. It's not how models are made. Right now you're thinking in 2d when you should be extruding stuff to make it have detail even horizontally that isn't just another flat shape sticked to its side.
I'd recommend checking out some tutorials. It doesn't really matter what they model in it as long as they get you familiar with the tools. You can't create something out of your mind if you don't know the possible tools to do it with.

This is the best description I've heard that describes beginners. They think in flat planes.
Oh yeah, I forgot about my tommy gun. Time to post that. Be gentle as it is the first thing I have ever made in Maya. Uploading images now.

:frown: My slow computer takes forever to render even a simple gun.
