What fucks up when you try to put a lot of holes in it? Can you post a screencap or something?

Oh and all the textures I'm using on my project are my own.

Probably the best way to cut a lot of holes in an object is to create the hole separately from the main object, copy it a bunch of times, and weld it in later. But, that's a conditional plan, too.
Somethings work better than others, and as DOG-GY suggested, a screenshot would help.
annnd, my better sword :D

Yes it is, that's my phone too, lol.

Anyone knows the average polycount for 1st person weapon?
Anything between 2 and 10000 polies I assume. It depends what engine.

What is it lol?
It's a Xenon Thruster powered single winged attack spacecraft, known as the Vortex I, built by the Vastion Empire.
It is fitted with a slot for a mid sized turret, suitable for attacking cruiser sized vessels, and a small turret slot, making it also suited as a counter-fighter aircraft. It's firepower is limited, and it's medium gun can only hold very limited ammunition (under 50 rounds).
Often used as fast-response defence fighters stationed on battleship or carrier sized vessels it was a useful piece of kit for taking down attackers due to it's speed, however the unreliable and uneconomic early Xenon XK-I made it very limited in terms of range. It was never fitted with a warp core due to size limitations.
Later additions and upgrades to the Vortex I, included a more powerful XK-II thruster and replaced the ammo-fed weaponary with pulse and laser variants, but due to the early nature of the ship, and due to the fact that it was mainly built as a cheap, easy to produce fighter, it suffered from hull strength handicaps.
Roughly 24 Vortex I Ultimate editions was produced, which took the chassis from the original Vortex I, and fitted it with a much more powerful adapted XK712 made by the Narloo empire. The small fixed weapon slot was removed and power was fed into an energy weapon slot where the medium turret was situated on the original.
Painted black and with the seal of the Vastion-Narloo cooperative construction stamped onto the floorplate, the ultimate edition is heavily prized both by ship collecters and Vortex enthusiasts alike.
It is relatively simple to carry out the conversion to a ship with similar properties of the ultimate edition however, but not generally worth it from the pilots perspective as the ship lacks capabilities of later ships of similar class.

Your design and back-story or from another game or movie?
No I just came up with it.
I totally want to make like tons of models and stuff based around my vision of a sweet space storyline. Hundreds of ships, modular guns, fighters. Stories, comics, animation, maybe a game.
I believe I'd be capable of carrying a project like this through as I'm proficient with Photoshop, 3ds max and Flash. As for storylines and stuff I'm fairly creative but never attempted authoring anything longer than a few pages. I could make the site and stuff too cause I can use HTML + CSS to a high standard.
Somethings holding me back though. I don't know where I'd take it.
How do I group objects together in max?
How do I group objects together in max?
Group>Group from the menu bar.

So far
Looks a bit fat.

Real one is quite fat too :D
Oh and, snap to vertex doesn't work the way it should. If I, for example, create a plane with 6 vertexes, and want to snap them to spline's vertexes, it snaps my pivot cursor, not vertex dot, and that makes snapping impossible.

My very first Model! ;3
Okay, maybe some of you want to share some information?
If you want, answer questions like, why did you start modeling, what were your impressions and so on.
Before I started modeling, I was mapping in hammer. And since it could only make limited brushes, I moved onto 3d modeling. First time was almost a year ago, I tried a bit and threw it away, thinking it was too complicated for me. Then when summer came I started reading tutorials and learning it, and I liked it.
I knew I wanted to be a 3d artist from the first time I ever saw renders. Turned out it wasn't so difficult and I could make anything at all in under an hour.

I assume that last part is a hyperbole?
I think max2009 has memory leak or some shit. It says it uses only 4mb of ram and I get only 15 fps in viewport
I get shit fps and I've got 4gb of ram. :C
I need to find my 2010 install disk. I'm missing my graphite :crying:

Well I make stuff pretty fast.
Even with flash people took days and months to make one minute plus animations on newgrounds.
I can whip stuff out really fast, like make a full 3-5 minute short in a day or two.
Probably just my workflow.

Record this. Model something interesting.
Yeah you're really overrating yourself.
How many pages until this thread is locked and we start v3?

You criticize peoples work way too much all through this thread when you're not a hot shit modeller yourself, even though most of the work posted is mainly WIPs.
But sure, i'll leave it up to you to decide how long it takes me to model stuff because you are of course ever present in my house looking over my shoulder and timing everything I do precisely with a stopwatch.

I see, you're that kind of people.
There are people who take a long time to model because they like to take breaks otherwise they get bored, maybe he can just keep at it until he's done, therefore taking less time.
Very early WIP of an ICE 3 model for a L4D campaign:
