I don't even remember why I started, it was back in the elemantary school doing shapes with simple primitives and stuff. That was with Anim8or. Fortunately, I realised I was going nowhere with that software and moved into ancient TrueSpace 3.2 from '98. I only started using Max around 2004-2005.
Oh god I did the exact same thing. first anim8or then truespace 3 Only I changed to Blender after that
Could I ask you something? How did you create it? Some settings or what??
I know in C4D it's possible to do it easily with some modifiers, dunno if that's what he used though.
You definitely need a better computer. Yes, it sure does slow down, i had almost 2 mil. polys when i tried it, but no freeze.
Must just be this old Vista setup, it's been getting slower lately. Vista x64, 9800 GTX+, Core2Duo E6550 2.33Ghz, 4GB of RAM. Anyone tried 3ds Max 2009 with Windows 7?

Also, your cpu is bad, it explains the freeze.
His CPU is perfectly fine, my 3ds max's freeze all the time.
What's so fine about a shit dual core?
Could I ask you something? How did you create it? Some settings or what??
i made a spher grabbed all the poly extruded..added iner extrude the extrded agin...selected it all and subdivided it then i added a hyper nurbs object..then i added a atom array then hypernurb again
What's so fine about a shit dual core?
Yeah. A Core 2 Quad is fine..
You forgot to add Lattice modifier.
I could barely tell. It's so turbosmoothed that it looks like face bevels.
It only freezes when I use turbosmooth and then lattice, reverse the order and it's fine. I can leave it for a few minutes and it will eventually start responding again, it's just a annoying that it freezes and becomes completely unresponsive, a process bar would make it less annoying. My computer isn't that old, maybe compared to new computers it's slower but it certainly isn't junk. EDIT: Seems it only freezes if I've extruded every face of a 32 segment sphere. I can't be surprised it takes a while when I have 3/4 of a million faces.
I'm starting up a 24/7 streaming channel with some friends, and it's going to be all Toonami material scheduled every day at 3pm - 6pm, and various anime during the day. Here's hopefully the finished logo:
Speaking of logos, I made this a few hours ago for someone : Stills a big WIP.
After seeing District 9, I got really inspired to do something from the movie. It was between the mech and the sonic cannon, but the arc gun was the only one with usable reference. So, I went with it: I want to try to get a low-poly out of it, but it'll be stupidly dense for a low poly model. Not sure how it'll come out. I'm redoing the diamond-textured nut connecting the canister to the nodes tomorrow. It's way too low poly to bake decent normals.
Okay, I'm new to 3D modelling on 3DS Max, how can I get started so I can hone my skills and get better at it? Any good tutorial sites you guys know of?

Well, here's my first render I guess.
Nice, is that autodesk?
Could be blender, seeing from the background.
Nice, is that autodesk?
Yea, looks like Autodesk Inventor to me.
