No, they buy all the very good programs and blow their fucking money on acquiring more names instead of properly upgrading their products. Discreet made Max; Alias|Wavefront made Maya. Autodesk throws out meaningless updates to their programs to make a quick buck. That's why a good part of their programs are bug-ridden messes.
As a matter of fact I actually know the origins of most programs Autodesk produces. And as for the rest: Sure, they make annual releases, but that doesn't really constitute QUICK BUCK OMG. They also have patches for those "bug-ridden messes" your talking about.
Nowadays "Release" software means "It's stable enough for us to sell now and patch later" and not "It's perfect!". This is quite often how it is now but not always.

Any comments yet?

If you just started using Blender(?), then it's good for one of the first renders.
I would work on the flashlight tho; it looks quite out of place, too big for its surroundings.
Thanks :)
I can see that you're right, I'll work on the flashlight.
Thought I'd add a texture too, how do I UVmap in Blender?
This might help you out.

I have multiple textures such as rusty, and different colors too. :3:
How did you make those bump maps THAT strong.
No one still told me, can I install both 32 and 64 bit max on one pc?
No one still told me, can I install both 32 and 64 bit max on one pc?
How do you expect to run 32 bit on a 64 bit OS, or vice versa?
It's a pretty redundant question, really.
How did you make those bump maps THAT strong.
What do you mean by that? :v:
No one still told me, can I install both 32 and 64 bit max on one pc?
Yes you can. It installs both by default.
Also, Maloof. The reason is that some plugins only work with x86.
[editline]01:14PM[/editline]
You can run (nearly) all 32-bit apps on x64.
What do you mean by that? :v:
Well it has more effect.
It's deeper.
Well it has more effect.

Well, i just increased the multiplier. :keke:
Could you send that bump map and I'll show you what happens when I do that.
Thanks for the tut, I'm really starting to like Blender. Everything is so much easier than ion XSI!
Although the camera is fucking terrible.
Could you send that bump map and I'll show you what happens when I do that.
Why can't you use something else. You can find lots of normal maps form Half life 2.

I'm curious, could I have a wireframe of that?
I'm curious, could I have a wireframe of that?
Can't you just imagine what it's going to look like? :geno:
No, it's really mindfucking me.
:smith:
He's right, you can't really figure out which "glass pipes" connect to what on some spots.
It's just a pyramid shape with pipes in a triangular pattern parallel to the sides.
So in this tutorial...
http://www.tutorialized.com/view/tutorial/3dsmax-studio-spline-modeling-tutorial/37641
About half way down the page it says:
"[11]-Now click on the Geometry > Standard primitives > plane Use the following"
Now I ask, where is the "Use the following button?"
A screen shot showing the button would be most appreciated.

You just create a plane, and then adjust the settings. There is no such button as you asked. He accidentally wrote it in the same row

Not trying to be an asshole but did you read the tutorial for context?

Yes I did, and yes I know what I am talking. You make a plane and then change the settings. There is NO such button what you are seeking

So he made a spline of a key, then created a rectangular plane, and then the key was suddenly a plane and the rectangular plane was gone? Maybe I'm misreading what you mean... Saying "there is no such button, and everything u saw in that tutorial is a lie" doesn't help much. Let's assume you are right(you probably are, for you guys know more than me about this,) and there is no button. So then how the fuck did he do it. "He changed the settings" is not a complete answer. That infers that there is some magical setting that turns the plane into the key, which is exactly the button I'm looking for thus there is a button.
Please don't take this the wrong way, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Choose spline key outline, add extrude modifier and you should be done.
A plane is just for floor. And I didn't say everything was a lie, just said the author didn't skip a line where it was needed and so you got confused. Nothing crazy
This is a common problem with tutorials.

Unless it's video tutorial lol
Unless it's video tutorial lol
Well, they have a lower failure rate.
Example I've seen one video tutorial for fume fx where few important rendering settings we're skipped, without them you couldn't create a decent looking smoke.
There was 2 check boxes, in one frame they we're off, in the next they we're on. :v:
