I love how the Les Paul is shaping up, I'm prety much coming to this thread for that!
First real model I made, what you think, should I continue to work on it?
my first thought: penis
my first thought: penis
Except for it being pink, I don't see any more similarities. I guess you're 13?
Looks great tbh mate, carry on working on it. Get some textures going and it will look awesome.

Thats a real sexy car there mate.
I think I may have to contribute. I am a complete beginner, by the way. So don't expect anything overly fantastic.
Early wip~
As I said over steam, "Sexeh".
That car does indeed look sexy, nice work modeling that. Perhaps I'll try modeling a car sometime. Some more work on the Les Paul. Revamped the knobs a bit. Materials need more tweaking, the gold is too shiny, the glass is still being problematic since it can't seem to comprehend shiny stuff underneath glass. In other news spacing out the numbers and marks correctly was a real pain. I've also modeled the strap holders and made some other little improvements. I'll do a full render later.
I feel really uncomfortable seeing these incredible models and renderings, how the hell do you guys get the patience to model stuff?

Figured out what it was. I had the integrator set to direct lighting. Looks a little foggy, and the gold's highlight might be brighter than desired. A few more tweaks in order.

A little foggy? It is grainy as fuck.
A little foggy? It is grainy as fuck.
That's just because I only let to go for about 5 minutes. The foggy comment was on the grey spots inside the glass. Rendered the whole thing for about an hour with the integrator set to distributedpath, there's a massive increase in brightness and contrast compared to direct light. Reflecting light is also far too bright.
That Les Paul is looking amazing, keep up the great work. What renderer are you using? Ugh, still thinking of something to make if anything. I think someone should randomly post a picture of something, and then people make it, sort of like a little challenge.
Hm...you gonna fix that?
I think some things in life are better left unsaid.
I've got a Maya problem; My top orthographic view has died. It shows blank grey. When I select an object and use the 'f' key to zoom to that object the top view shows the scene, zooms to the object, then goes blank again. Any ideas?
Yay for random 3D intro I made. Took like... 8 hours to render due to the heavy motion blur. x.x
Forget my previous problem - sorted it. Still WIP. Nice animation, Swifter!
Does anyone know where to get those tutorial from another mirror since they were removed from the server : http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/beretta-9000-video-tutorial If not, is there any good set of tutorial that you would recommend for beginners. I really want to start modeling in 3DS Max but I have no idea where to start. Thanks in Advance

Excuse me for my noobery, but why so many lights? Shouldn't it just be the sun?
Excuse me for my noobery, but why so many lights? Shouldn't it just be the sun?
You should never only have one light source, that's a terrible way to light a scene. Area, spot, and point lights are all very good in combination.
Does anyone know about any good 3D community websites? With tutorials, forums, resources, gallery, etc...
I need a tut for modelling detailed guns.
You can just try and model one. Tutorials will only take you so far, they are for learning tools, not doing everything. Spend a few hours trying to get the results you are looking for, then if you can't do it, go for a tut.
