Anyone here ever heard of metasequoia? Is it any good? Some kid in my IT class swears by it. He says he really like the simple userface, but loves it's features.
Nope, but i bet it's something like Anim8tor...
http://www.daybreak-studio.net/metatutorials.html
I don't know much about either, but metaseq looks a little bit more in depth, I'll let you be the judge of that though.
Can anyone give me advice on how to model in blender so it doesn't look so... blocky?
Like not smoothing, but like how could I create a gun handle without it just being a block with lines on it?

It looks very basic, i don't believe it has decent rendering capabilities.
And if you're going to be a professional modeler/animator or any of that sort someday, you're probably not going to get far with this.
Definitely better than Anim8tor.
Could someone point me to some nice but basic tutorials for 3DSMax that maybe deal with lighting and rendering?
I can make pretty basic 3D text already so I just want to mess around with that for a while until I feel comfortable with the controls and want to move on to actual modeling.
Thanks =3
I see what you're saying, I'll try that.
Looking at this, I wish Blender had the amount of cool plugins that 3Dsmax does.
Blender has a script that does the same
It's called "Discombobulator"

Cool renders like the above post are what I am looking to do, any tutorials on rigging a lighting system and render settings to achieve this?
[editline]12:29AM[/editline]
I know it's only a basic "clay" render but I like the look and with photoshop involved I could achieve the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

Here i explained how to setup a simple daylight, now if you replace the daylight with a skylight you get results like above post.

Still no gizmo :/
The cartoon character is done. It's UV mapped. so I can't make any renders, because they don't show up and I don't know how to make them. :saddowns:
So here's a screenshot of it in blender itself.

meaning? :s
It is somehow missing a design, you could have just used a displacement map on a 40 poly hangar too get a similar effect.
See this for a generic Hangar:
