Learning texturing and fucking around with lights.

Is that 16bit light?

Where's the indirect light?
i have no idea what you guys are talking about :D
makes me feel like and utter noob.
Can anyone explain to me the difference between cube modelling and plane modelling?
?
?
Someone already explained. Cube is when you make a cube and model from there.
Plane is where you make one quad and extrude edges.

Well, in real life light bounces off from surfaces it hits, so the back side of the apple wouldn't be 100% black.
Your render does not have this phenomena.
I actually like it. Not entirely photorealisitc, but very artistic.

That doesn't really sound like a huge difference. PLing I think made it sound like plane modelling is much more advanced.

Yes it is. Making stuff from a plane result in much more detail. Depending on what you make though.
I found organic modelling in Maya to be a complete bitch. Blender allowed me to move vertices normal to the active viewport quickly and easily, without all this gizmo nonsense.
When I get back into 3D art Blender will be my brush and Maya will be my canvas.

Started work on the Scopedog mecha from the anime series Armored Trooper VOTOMS.

I'm still wondering how I'll UV unwrap this monster when it's done and I still can't texture for shit.
It might just be how the mecha is designed but it feels like with those legs it'll fall over almost instantly
I'll let you judge the design:

Looks like he should have a New York accent and a limp. I love it.

I see your point good sir. These mechas won't fall over, and they look very badass.
Can vray reflect light?
Like a real mirror will reflect it.

Caustics.
Caustics.
I would say caustics is the refraction of light and not reflection?
Or am I all wrong?

I just wanted too try out houdini, but as soon as I started it I got this, the viewport is completely white nomatter what I do and the text is broken on some areas.
Any way too fix this?

This is the first thing ever I did in 3d! Made it using Blender. Also may load some time!

It strangely looks like it is rotating, like an optical illusion.

Holy shit could it be because it's a .gif, Sherlock? :aaa:
Allright this is page 42, make it worthy people!
Haha :D
Soon as you want page 42 to be wonderful, you tip it over. Now on topic: What do you all think of Maya? How well does it compare to the other modeling/animation programs out there?
