Soon as you want page 42 to be wonderful, you tip it over. Now on topic: What do you all think of Maya? How well does it compare to the other modeling/animation programs out there?
As far as I'm concerned, it's the best program on the market. It's what all VFX companies use, and together with RenderMan, it's just amazing.

FFFFUUUUUUUUUU- Anyway, here's my latest project. FUCK BLENDER DELETED THE FUCKING FILE FUCK FUCK FUCK
FFFFUUUUUUUUUU- Anyway, here's my latest project. FUCK BLENDER DELETED THE FUCKING FILE FUCK FUCK FUCK
Blender didn't delete it... Most computer issues are caused by the user :-)
Ah okay, thanks for the replies.
Holy shit could it be because it's a .gif, Sherlock? :aaa:
Lolhi long time no see
This is my first attempt at modelling a face, after about a week of just messing around in Blender. Criticism is appreciated. I know I messed the eyes up. And the nose looks pinched.
I wonder if there is a real life accurate renderer? Something that not only produces good image, but also can simulate light. So if I want to make a light projection on wall, I just put a light, and some plane with texture infront and it projects that image on wall, but bigger :D
that would be raytracing.
ray tracing is not actually simulating light after the real equasions, it is programmed too not take 10 hours for a non grainy image. If you want a renderer which simulates light acording too real equasions your best bet would be lux render, it even simulates wavelengths. The problem is though, that you don't have as much controll over the lighting as you would with mental ray or vray.

You could check it out and see if that's what you're looking for. http://www.maxwellrender.com/

I used an image of a tree where I cut out the sky from around the tree and between the branches, and used that to project a tree shadow onto one of my scenes. That was just using Mental Ray with raytracing. To get the whole realistic shadows/edges and to simulate the way light bounces off of things you'll need subsurface scattering and ambient occlusion. I haven't seen SSS in Mental Ray but I'm pretty sure you can do it. Ambient Occlusion is in there too.

My first render EVER in 3ds Max, and it was done without any tutorials, so go easy on me. Total work time around 1.5 hours Why the disagree?
I just made a really weird looking tiki mask. No references used. Just my imagination. Took about an hour and a half. Criticism, anyone?
It's still a work in progress, I may add stuff as time goes by Guess I'm gonna add some texture tomorrow, streetlights, ETCs
I also gave it proper pivots and stuff for animating. :3:
Hmm... Texture is WIP [sp]Still fails[/sp]

You sure like spinning cameras.
Jeggis, everything you make somehow keeps me in a constant state of :aaa:. It just looks so good.

Stop being so amazing, you.
Jeggis, everything you make somehow keeps me in a constant state of :aaa:. It just looks so good.
I totally agree.
Fix the symmetry.
Ah, thanks. I'll try to do that. [editline]05:36PM[/editline] There. Tried to fix the symmetry up a little. Anything else? I also want to learn how to texture. Anyone know of any good tutorials for this?
I made a Lamborghini Gallardo. Been working on it for the last few days. I suck at rendering though. A few minor problems with the model itself, but 3DS Max has been crashing a lot on me, so I haven't been able to fix them.
Wow, that looks quite nice.
The car's texture looks lumpy, but I'm sure that's not a real issue. I'm a novice modeler.
