No, it's just Vray with some solid color textures.

What are you using?
What are you using?
3ds Studio Max, 2009.
Just type 3ds max tutorials in google and you will have more help and tips than you will ever need, youtube is also good.
Might also want to check 3DBuzz's video tutorials.

But what's the point, it doesn't increase speed, does it?
But what's the point, it doesn't increase speed, does it?
Yep it does, actually about %85 for me when using 3ds Max, go look it up.
The performance increase comes from using Quadro drivers instead of GeForce drivers.
please dont say im stupid or something because these are my first pictures ever made in a 3D modeling program

What program are you using, you need too learn how too modify existing objects rather than creating new ones.

maya costs 3000 dollars

Try the personal learning edition.
Yeah, the PLE is basically same as the commercial Maya just without the renderer. Or try Blender if you want to make fancy renders for free. Dunno if that works on macs though.
Just checked blender's download page, works on macs and more, you could use it on linux if you wanted.
Blender is cross-platform.

So my 3dsMax renders are coming out with a black outline around every shape.. not the clay look I want
[editline]06:59PM[/editline]
Now its just a black silhouette.

Put the exposure control to none.

And just leave the default material right? (unmaterialed)

Yeah? It shouldn't make any difference.

Don't feel it looks to repetitive for being less than a dozen buildings and a handful of props.

looks ace.
Can anyone reccommend some good tutorials for 3DSMax 2010?
I fixed some stuff...

-Fixed the messed up textures.
-Fixed the clipping by redoing center segment.
-Removed a bunch of unused faces.
Looks better now, although I have that big empty spot in the middle of the center leg.
I'm thinking of removing the grooves in the metal plates, and punching out holes instead. Should improve the look drastically. As for the empty spot, I still need to add hoses and such, which should fill up that a little bit. I was going for a very lightweight look anyway. (Punching out slots should help with that.)

Oh and Ajacks, that looks amazing as usual. Might want to add some garbage and abandoned carts and stuff like that, because right now it looks a little too clean.

I agree, it needs more props but I'm pushing a million poly and I just want to get the product out, I'd rather work on my other city project at this point. It's very time consuming to do small detail on such a large set
How do I make vraylightmtl to cast more light? I tried to make a screen, but it's like a simple mtl, looks even less light with a material applied. So how do I make a phone screen that casts light?
