How do I make vraylightmtl to cast more light? I tried to make a screen, but it's like a simple mtl, looks even less light with a material applied. So how do I make a phone screen that casts light?
Increase the multiplier?
Increase the multiplier?
Multiplier of what? Because vraylightmtl doesn't have one.
The informative rating shows that someone sarcastically thought I was informative by just posting the picture, so if you want informitive: This is earth, believe it or not, you're standing on it. :v: In serious, just made this in college today not much else to say.
Multiplier of what? Because vraylightmtl doesn't have one.
Yeah, it has 1,00 increase it to like 10,0.
How do I increase the number of vertices on my cubes? Mine only have 4 and even in the test video they had like 8 per side.

Diamonds: Glassy stuff: ^Those were mainly a practice for making caustics and glass objects with Vray My current project, some kind of hibernation pod. Still a bit of a WIP, but it's nothing serious anyway. Just messing around out of boredom. If I still have interest when I finish it I might make an environment for it and perhaps even an animation. Also Tardis: ignore the odd gloss on the text. I've fiddled around with 3ds Max for about a year now, but I've been actively modeling for less than half a year.
Alright, I'm stuck. Can anyone post some good tutorials that will help me get started on my way. Currently the ONLY THINGS I know how to create shapes and use the edit poly/vertices and symmetry modifiers.
The lumpy look is probably just because I suck at making good materials and can't get good render settings. I've got a tip for you with modeling, if you have trouble, just keep trying. It probably sounds stupid, but it does work. I know when I started around December last year, it was daunting to learn all the tools, the interface and how things work. I spent a heap of time just messing around with some tools to learn what they did, I also looked at heaps of tutorials to get the hang of the basics. I was probably using 3DS Max for around two months before I got anything 'decent' with it, and even then it still looked awful. I thought I'd never make anything good with it. Maybe I'm just a slow learner, but after many months of practice and making some basic household objects, some guns, a few cars and a plane, I feel like I'm getting the hang of it, but I can still learn a lot more.
Thanks for the support. I'll remember what you said if I ever get back into it.

So is Vray for free or what?
THat's fucking awesome, looks just like the real thing. So is Vray for free or what?
You'll have to buy it, unless you'll be happy with the trial version, which gives you watermarks on your renders.
You'll have to buy it, unless you'll be happy with the trial version, which gives you watermarks on your renders.
I like the "You'll have to buy it"-part :ninja: EDIT: BTW, I use freeware (Kerkythea) for 3D Rendering... EDIT: Why dumb?
I'm 13
:ughh: Right, on-topic: One of my most advanced models so far - still not too happy about it. Thanks too theblueprints.com for supplying the reference images: The real deal: My version: Wire frame: 11249 Faces, two days work. Made in 3DS max. I would have textured it much better but I've got this problem: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=765015 [editline]06:29PM[/editline]
Model+Bump+Displacement map= WIN
Nice. can anyone respond to my question?
can anyone respond to my question?
What question?
Anyone know how to make the metal material on this camera. I'm making the lense part.
Anyone know how to make the metal material on this camera. I'm making the lense part.
I don't really get what you want?
Alright, I'm stuck. Can anyone post some good tutorials that will help me get started on my way. Currently the ONLY THINGS I know how to create shapes and use the edit poly/vertices and symmetry modifiers.
this question
this question
But that's not a question. A request at best. I saw that post, but I was all like " Where's the question?"
Question time. Ok, so I want to cut the brown spline at the point where it intersects with the circle. How would I go about doing this? Could I use boolean, or does that only work on 3D shapes?
But that's not a question. A request at best. I saw that post, but I was all like " Where's the question?"
No need to act like an asshole. Can you help or not?
No need to act like an asshole. Can you help or not?
http://www.carbodydesign.com/tutorials/car-3d-modeling-tutorials.php?pageNum_RsResources=0 Only car modeling tutorials, but that's what helped me to understand max and know stuff that I know right now. Anyway, how do I export as obj from zbrush? I can't even find a nice documentation for it, jeez.
I don't really get what you want?
Black material on the camera.
 My class started on monday, Maya is pretty cool, even working on a mac. So much learning in only two days.
Black material on the camera.
It's not metal.
So bored I modeled and textured my remote. [editline]08:59PM[/editline] Goddamn double post.
