I was asking what you use.. :psyduck:
Oh.
First off: I'm using Vray, so if you don't have it, get it!
In the scene, just place a VRayLight...
* type: Dome
* check No Decay
* intensity: 1.0
Then open the Render window, goto tab Renderer and find the rQMC sampler box. Then change min samples to 16 and noise threshold to 0 and global subdivs multiplier to 2.0.
Then goto the box Global Switches and uncheck Default Lights.
is this you, if it is you your accent sound familiar?.
It's me. My voice sounds a bit different now.
I'm Norwegian. Accent is to be expected.
Also, this happened by accident when attempting to smooth out some characters I made.
Don't even ask.

Surprisingly it only took 4 seconds to render.

That's not a complex render.

Okay seriously has anyone had problems getting 2010 to run on Vista x64?

That scares me. Deeply. :ohdear:
Should I grab screenshots of my crappy models made in class? :dance:
Sure.
Okay. I give up on finding reliable tutorials. Can anyone just tell me where/how they learned?
Okay. I give up on finding reliable tutorials. Can anyone just tell me where/how they learned?
From tutorials, duh.
From tutorials, duh.
Or a class. :v:
Trying things is the way to go.
Or a class. :v:
That's a really similar thing.

Buy books, that's the way I have learned most of what I know.
Also, just thought I'd share with you a render of an ashtray model I'm doing for a game. Nothing special, but I think it came out fairly nice.

How do you make shapes like that?
How do you make shapes like that?
Torus + noise? duh.
Torus + noise? duh.
I think the render looks pretty damn cool.
[editline]10:33PM[/editline]
However simple.

I dont know where monitor.exe is ?
Could you show me the bump map?
Will do that when I get back on my stationary comp. Any particular reason to why you want to see it?

How do you guys create bump maps?
WTF double post
How do you guys create bump maps?

You make a grayscale version of your diffuse map(if you are using 3DS Max) or color map(if you are using Maya), much like you do when you make your specular or translucency map for example. Where black defines a "bump inwards" and white a "bump outwards".
How do you guys create bump maps?

I know I'm late but in photoshop I just CTRL + U the diffuse map and drag the saturation to nothing so it's black and white. :v: Work's pretty well however I'm sure there's better methods.

I usually desaturate (SHIFT + CTRL + U)the diffuse/color map and play with the Levels a bit, until I get a satisfactory result.
Ok now. Then how do I create normal maps for games? These colorful ones?

Or you use "CrazyBump"
It generates bump maps, displacement maps,etc..
It's a strong program, but can I see the bump map please?

Yes, you certainly can.

Also, you can use nVidia's photoshop plugin to make normal maps from heightmaps or diffuse textures.
