(Partly?) Ban RussiaToday (RT) as a source in Sensationalist Headlines

It is, but those two subjects in particular invoke nothing but immature screaming from senseless neanderthals (on both sides of the debate). Yes, you get fucking idiots with every thread in SH, but outside of those two topics, there is at least some sensible discussion going on. With those two subjects, you get nothing but shitposts. With the Zimmerman case in particular, "#justice4trayvon" already violates the rules by being a meme reply.

Suggestion: Don't go to those threads?
It's already a thing. It's just not enforced, apparently.
It is enforced. However, it can't be enforced if the mods doesn't see those threads. I think there's too few users reporting opinion pieces.
People can PM me if they see threads containing opinion pieces.
All modern media is deceptive and is used to control the masses.
It is important to observe all news sources to get a perspecitve on the diffrient agendas that are being pushed, but never acknowledge anything as fact.

Ignoring the problem solves nothing.
Isn't RT banned from Wikipedia for spreading propaganda anyway?

Media isn't used to control the masses. The masses control the media, and only want to listen to what they want to listen to.
Everyone now thinks its a shit source because of Syria.. just a few months ago people were praising it for its views on US politics
Ignoring the problem solves nothing.
This isn't a problem if you don't go to the threads. It's like going into someone's house and complaining about the furniture arrangement. If you don't like it, don't go in - and then there's no issue.
the onion is banned for a long time, for example.
The Onion is satire. RT is just incredibly biased.
this is not reddit
and it is no more a reputable source than any other kind of 'news' media provider
How about we improve news itself, most sources are full of shit and try to push an agenda.
the biggest joke here is that people turn to facepunch for their news; does the term "sensationalist" not mean anything to anyone
it's like turning to the homeless to find out how to do your taxes
what the fuck is wrong with facepunchers

Yeah really
You're like to find two types of news articles in SH. First, something funny like "Man sets penis on fire" or "Cute puppy fights turtle". Second is what the big news issue of the time is, be it gun control, George Zimmerman, Syria, or whatever. Facepunch is a really bad place to use as a news aggregate.
SH is filled with news that the Facepunch community believes important to them, not what is important to the wider world. Sometimes, what the community wants to read isn't want you as the individual wants to read. And this thread is a, albeit an extreme one, example of what happens when the individual dislikes what he's reading.

Those are extreme cases, though. Only when the title is outrageously different from the actual content.
Things like Smurfy's "Unemployed Man Meets President Obama" where it was Romney meeting Obama at the White House after the election is sensationalist (and witty) but not harmful or out right lying like others.

yea cnn is way more terrible than rt
at least it's obvious that rt is biased.

Just out of curiosity, can you give me at least 5 examples of extreme CNN bias?
Just out of curiosity, can you give me at least 5 examples of extreme CNN bias?
it's hard to do because cnn is more biased in selection of stories to air. and it's also not so obvious that cnn is biased.
you can look at the coverage of the buildup to the iraq war if you want an example of extreme bias, though. every major news station was basically a mouthpiece for the united states government for the purpose of pushing pro-war propaganda.

So basically you haven't any examples.

i would say that a lot more than 5 iraqi children were slaughtered in our illegal war, so that will have to do for now. i'm not your secretary.

no it fucking isn't, it's like going into someone's house and complaining that the wife and kids are armed and shooting at each other
No, simply because it's SH. Half of the "news" posted there are complete shit from biased sources or fucking blog posts, and the other half can't even be called "news". It's not a serious, reliable news source and never has been or will be.
If we ban RT, then ban Fox News, MSNBC, HuffPost, the myriad of smaller unreliable news sources, and blogs, most (if not all) of which are as bad if not worse than RT.
I have RT streaming directly into my brain i don't need to see it on facepunch.
I think if you look at what they post, and how they post it. It's practically spam, just so they can get as many views to their website as possible. Shame they do it in such a lazy way. Also maybe they don't post on the gay rights because they don't want to be discredited as a news source is Russia as they are quite big, but I guess your bound to get biased with big companies probably getting some money from their goverment in one way another to keep their mouth shut on the subject.
I'd like to see RT not be linked too, but then I'd also say that daily mail, the sun, or other tabloids shouldn't be linked either.
I voted yes but looking back on it, it wouldn't be a good precedent. I think people just should be aware that if they are basing a story off RT or for proof, then you should be prepared to be called out for it.
RT used to be interesting to me a few years ago but they really seem to be going into conspiracy waters in the past two years.
I just watch RT for Max Keiser
