• How Valve Treats CS:GO
Kid named Solo threw a match for the Russian equivalent of $322. The rest of his team was not in on it and, in the grand scheme of the tournament they were in, the match didn't matter. Got banned for life from StarLadder but then had it reduced to 12 months. Meanwhile, in CS:GO, they had the North American match fixing scandal and all of the involved players but one were given "indefinite bans" until Valve finally came out a year later and said "Yeah, they're permanent."
They both should've gotten indefinite bans. If it was a real sport they'd be facing charges on top of a lifetime ban, so they should feel lucky eSports and skins aren't regulated like the real thing.
I'm convinced that a lot of people, also here, are seriously over-dramatizing the CSGO situation. You're acting like CSGO is a broken piece of shit that constantly feels like an unfinished wreck of a game. I have over 1000 hours in the game and I can confirm that it's not the case at all, and you clearly haven't seen games like Killing Floor or Payday 2 (which aren't competitive games but that's not my point). CSGO is not perfect but can it ever be? With the huge community Valve has it's obvious they're not sure how to make the whole community happy, because yeah guess what, the top competitive players aren't the only ones playing it. Satisfying everyone was never easy, and in case you haven't noticed Valve doesn't want to make CSGO like a HD CS or CSS. They want it to be its own game, and that means sometimes CS veterans aren't gonna like it.

Being left in the dark about issues feels REALLY bad if those issues are getting in the way of something you really like doing. And yes, I know, they're already working on the issues, they don't want to say the acknowledge them because then people will start spamming reddit 'OKAY, BUT WHEN???????????????????', they know it's a lost cause in that regard, they just gave up communication almost entirely

Well I'll be- [editline]31st August 2016[/editline] No offense meant.
It genuinely feels like Valve thinks they can just add a button for comp-matchmaking and go "Yep done" while completely failing to understand that Comp games require constant reworking or else they fail spectacularly

This sure does make me wish one of the biggest (if not the biggest idk this shit) competitive games out there wasn't run by a bunch of laughing joking numbnuts from one of the worst companies in gaming

I mean, the revolver is completely useless.
This sure does make me wish one of the biggest (if not the biggest idk this shit) competitive games out there wasn't run by a bunch of laughing joking numbnuts from one of the worst companies in gaming
Valve is shit, yes, but they are far from the shittiest.
I just feel like CSGO needs to actually keep the maps in the game from these events. Only having 2 map ques make the game feel barren to me.

Most other Triple-As would've murdered the CS community decades ago in favour of the far bigger casual and/or console audience.

Most other Triple-As would've murdered the CS community decades ago in favour of the far bigger casual and/or console audience.
But I'm not being hyperbolic because it's what I actually believe [editline]e[/editline] also I wouldn't really consider myself part of the CS GO community because I play it very on and off
But I'm not being hyperbolic because it's what I actually believe [editline]e[/editline] also I wouldn't really consider myself part of the CS GO community because I play it very on and off
Do you honestly think CS would be in a better spot today if it was owned by EA, Ubisoft or Activision?
I think competitive CSGO is really fun and good, as long as you don't have hackers playing with you. Actually, if Valve just cracked down harder on hackers, I would be satisfied.
Did CS:GO ever get proper gungame? That's the main reason I've stuck with CS:S so long. Gungame is life.
Do you honestly think CS would be in a better spot today if it was owned by EA, Ubisoft or Activision?
It would get actual updates so yeah probably
Did CS:GO ever get proper gungame? That's the main reason I've stuck with CS:S so long. Gungame is life.
Have you been missing out on csgo since the release year? It has an official gungame type mode in there
Have you been missing out on csgo since the release year? It has an official gungame type mode in there
Yeah but there's only like three maps, and it's not as good. I like the custom servers with the whacky sound effects.
It would get actual updates so yeah probably
I'm sure the CS community would love the yearly re-releases, pay-to-play map packs, aim-down-sights and all the other wonderful things you get from games designed for consoles and ported to PC as an afterthought.
Yeah but there's only like three maps, and it's not as good. I like the custom servers with the whacky sound effects.
iirc there are 6 maps now but yeah I too like those very community like sounds those custom servers had. But then again csgo still has custom servers so its not like custom gungame servers dont exist.
It genuinely feels like Valve thinks they can just add a button for comp-matchmaking and go "Yep done" while completely failing to understand that Comp games require constant reworking or else they fail spectacularly
Not to mention that TF2's balance is fucked [editline]31st August 2016[/editline]
Did CS:GO ever get proper gungame? That's the main reason I've stuck with CS:S so long. Gungame is life.
It has 5v5 Arms Race which is gungame that requires 2 gun kills (or 1 knife kill) to level up and it has like a solid 4 maps supported. Oh, and if you're the top player on your team everyone can see you through walls when you shoot. It's fucking trash, don't bother.
By the way there is a bug that could fuck you over in 3rd PARTY Servers on CSGO this is an goning issue since FEB 2016 I belive,. so the crap that valve is pulling in this video doesn't surprise me
the main issue I have with this is that although dota receives more support and feature updates than CS:GO, incl. listening to community, most updates still revolve around moneygrubbing
Yeah but there's only like three maps, and it's not as good. I like the custom servers with the whacky sound effects.
the custom CS:GO gungame servers are way better than the CS:S gungame servers
Welcome to the club csgo community. tf2 has been getting the shaft for years.

now imagine your a comp tf2 player :(
Aye welcome to the tf2 disappointment club. it feels as if they don't even play the games anymore. I always find it a bit funny when CS:GO/DOTA 2 players complain about all the little problems in their games, not to say they're not valid, a lot of little problems add up quick (especially CS:GO stuff), but in TF2: the Pyro is still horribly broken, is unfun to play against and is basically able to counter any class with the right loadout, not to mention the fucking Phlogistinator, which after doing a bit of damage makes you immortal for a few seconds, heals you, and then gives crits for several seconds afterwards. and that's after it got nerfed. Heavys are pretty much useless without a medic, and the only practical minigun to use is the stock since all the others have been nerfed to hell and back. There was a really bad hacking problem until earlier this year. A hack that could get past VAC called LMAOBOX was rampant until someone found the code for it on github and gave it to Valve, I will give it to Valve that they did something about LMAOBOX but it was used for YEARS before anything was done about it. A lot of "pro" snipers got vac banned which was pretty funny. the scout has an item that gives them temporary mini crits for a little penalty. They keep buffing it for some reason. Some weapons are pretty much useless (looking at you, Sun on a Stick and Solemn Vow ) The "big" matchmaking update was a disaster, has a questionable map pool for ranked (why Gouge and Swiftwater? great maps but why??), Had stupid long que times even for launch, is still being fixed and currently has bug where once you level up the top rank you get reset to the lowest rank. Not to mention the casual ranking system is pointless so you could end up on a team with pros or new players and it's completely out of your control. I will admit a lot of the hype and disappointment was the community's fault but damn it still feels like it's in beta testing. Also it's a smurf fest since there's no placement matches. I would bring up trading/idle maps but that's more the community's fault and valve did do things to fix idling.
the scout has an item that gives them temporary mini crits for a little penalty. They keep buffing it for some reason.
They nerfed it in the Meet Your Match, what are you talking about?
They nerfed it in the Meet Your Match, what are you talking about?
Oh my bad, they did nerf it:
Game Balance Scout Crit-A-Cola Added Marked-for-Death debuff for 2 seconds after the buff effect expires
It's still stupidly overpowered.
But I'm not being hyperbolic because it's what I actually believe [editline]e[/editline] also I wouldn't really consider myself part of the CS GO community because I play it very on and off
That's great that it's what you believe, but it's wrong, they are not one of the worst companies in gaming.
As a tf2 player, this is absolutely nothing new.
Money has corrupted Valve, sometimes I think things would have been better if Steam never existed.
Money has corrupted Valve, sometimes I think things would have been better if Steam never existed.
Well because of steam they can just sit back and do nothing now. Which is pretty much what they do.
