Hey I got into UIUC as well! Also got into Purdue. Applied to a couple more schools, will update as they roll in the next couple weeks.
Take Purdue, it's awesome here. My suggestion for everyone is to take a visit to these colleges if you haven't yet. Your eyes tell you more than a web page will.
As an Amherst resident I know plenty of people from UMASS and some from Amherst College. If any of you do end up coming here, please be better at driving than them. (I'm a junior this year, so I'm just looking over schools and visiting them at the moment.)
Space Science and Robotics at Aberystwyth in Wales, hopefully.
Lol this some sad shit looking at this thread the next generation of college kids studying "sociology" and don't know what the fuck they doing with their lives son.
Comp. Sci major at University of California San Diego here. Two thirds through my first year. School's pretty nice.
I'm about to enter second year at the University of Western Ontario, doing an honours specialization in astrophysics. I hate it. I love the topic and the education and what I'm learning and whatnot, but everything else has been atrocious for me. I made the mistake of staying home (I live near the university with parents) and because most of my friends moved away for uni, I can now count my friends I see regularly on one hand. I've made two (2) new friends this year. I have been invited to zero parties, have failed a couple exams, fucked up some introductions, you name it. I miss high school. I didn't really do anything in it. My advice to you soon-to-be freshmen is to join all the clubs and be sure to live on campus. I've wasted a year doing all of nothing.

Most of the time you'll end up in some poor mans house drinking really poor shit beer, just literally being wasted on the floor and/or maybe beerpong. There is literally nothing else that goes on, and it's an increadibly shallow way to spend your time, and a great way to fuck up your college life (partying tends to cause more dropouts than anything). I reccomend you try and find a local (cheap) apartment with roomates. While I love the fact that I'm not forced to live (and work) on-campus because I am local, I also love the freedom I have by having my own place of residence. Literally the only benefit you get to living on campus is the first year or two you end up forcefully meeting alot of people, and knwoing when (terrible) parties happen. Some parties are great but almost every single one you'll hear about on-campus while a freshman/sophmore will be pretty shit. Join some clubs, and be active in your school beyond just doing classes if you are feeling lonely or left out. That's where the REAL friends and such are found, and thats where the real activities go down. Sure you miss out on doing silly stuff in the middle of the night as a freshman, but honestly once you are a junior/senior/etc you won't really miss it.

If I were to stay at home and study in my town, I don't think I would get to know people that well.
I've been accepted in the university of sao paulo (USP) in civil engineering. There was this huge list of approved people and i was in it :v:. I'm not living in the campus though, i'm in a flat close to it, writing from there in an iphone actually. The bloody school is considered to be one of the bests in south america.
This morning I was looking at Washington's choices in dorm life and was getting really excited... until I realized that I was looking at the Seeatle Campus and not the Tacoma one. Tacoma seems to have students live in campus apartments which would be fine but I'm kind of iffy about it.
Dont bother, youll go uni, get drunk every night, live off shit food, and probably fail. regardless of that, youll still have a fuckton of debt, so when you eventually get a decent job youll have to pay alot of your earnings away. I dropped out and im now earning more (before the loan repayments) than my friends who went to uni. aw yeah

This isn't a thread for a debate. I even said that in the OP.

I attend the University of Phoenix Online because I live overseas here in Crete, Greece. I am getting an Associates Degree of Arts in Information Technology/Networking. Once I move back to the states I want to attend Georgia State University or Kennesaw State to complete my Bachelors Degree. It all depends though, I may just stick with UoP. The career I really want to get into is a Systems Administrator with the Federal Government (Preferably with Homeland Security or the Department of Defense) because it pays extremely well; I would start making $80,000.00 per year at many positions and by retirement I would be making $130,000.00-$150,000.00.
Trying to get into Salford University to do Aeronautical Engineering, but 6th form isn't going so well. Gotta knuckle down a bit.

At anytime someone could come in who is more educationally qualified and potentially bump you out of your position. It's a real threat, and it happens a lot to people; especially when the economic crisis first started and the first round of people were let go. Plus, with a degree you have a better chance of advancement in the company your work for.
Northeastern University and Boston University, but probably going to stay instate and go to Santa Cruz...
Well I'm only a Junior so I'm not applying yet, but I'm going on a college visit tour of a lot of the big 10 schools. Michigan State, Indiana, UofI, Illinois State (Not Big 10), and Iowa. I've already been to Madison.
Got accepted into U of I, the only school I applied to mainly due to procrastination. May or may not transfer out after 2 years depending on the experience. Transfer to either UChicago or Columbia University, Columbia actually sending me some financial aid info which hopefully means that I actually would've had a chance if I applied (would like some insight onto this please).
My dad wanted to call my grandma and tell her that I got into 2 schools so far. He wanted me to tell her but I thought it would sound like I was bragging. I also didn't want to talk to her because she constantly brings me down. So he told her over the phone... I heard her response. "Oh... at least he got into 2... at least it's something..." I hate my grandma...
Veterinary Science major at Clemson University with a Computer Science minor. I'll probably be going to Auburn Veterinary School in 2 or 3 years for my VMD and then Iowa State University in 6 or 7 for my PhD (might be in the opposite order, I haven't really decided and Auburn Vet School requires around a 3.7 undergrad GPA, which is pretty hard to get with science classes here). I can't wait for school to be over.
I attend the University of Phoenix Online because I live overseas here in Crete, Greece. I got one from UC Irvine and San Jose State. Really hoping to get accepted into Berkeley though :D
Hoping to hear back from Texas A&M College station soon... I'd be transferring to the Comp Sci Program. If I don't get in this semester I'm going to take a semester off and just work and continue my fighting training. Then I'll try again.
my friend is going to texas a&m [editline]9th March 2012[/editline] good luck
Got accepted at City College Plymouth. :D Well, I'm already doing a Level 2 IT course there, but I'm going on to a Level 3 IT course now. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9791791/college.png[/t] @ Nytol_, you should've gone with Plymouth. The uni and the colleges have extremely nice people who will help you in any way they can.
got into rpi and case western today!
Accepted twice over at University of Ottawa. Honours BA. Majoring in Classical Studies and Honours BA. Majoring in History, both with $2000 Annual Admission Scholarship. Might be in the Co-op Program as well. Accepted with the same deal at Carleton University, but I'll probably accept the offer from Ottawa.
University of the arts in Philadelphia, I'm a film major.
You guys are lucky, I get acceptance letters in Mid-may, 3 more months of anxiety, yay!
Well this thread is titled acceptance letters but since it seems to be uni GD I'll just post what I've thought of uni so far. I'm in my final semester of my final (3rd) year doing Computer Science at portsmouth, and although all the material is good and I find it interesting, I have to say the whole "university is the best time of your life" thing is a load of shit. I've never once been able to relax and enjoy the subjects because I'm constantly worrying about exams or coursework. I constantly have something to worry about when I'm at uni. On top of that, student life is absolutely abysmal, it's like normal life except you live like you're poor. Unlike a job, the work follows you home. There are no clear lines between work and home time because you have so much work to do at home. I haven't played games at all this semester because I just can't relax - I open the game and I close it 10 minutes later. You get some subjects where the coursework seems completely unreasonable, and failing is something you need to avoid at all costs because it either means retakes and capped marks, or if you're unable to pass a retake, it means you don't get your degree / have to trail units in the next year / have to do an additional year (which costs money of course). I have a 1st mark (70%+, basically an A) in all units except 1 since the beginning of my second year which means I'm guaranteed a 1st if I pass everything this semester, but even that worries me. It seems that there's always some unit there ready to jeapardise your chance for success. Overall I've hated the University experience. It's not the "best time of your life" unless you are a care free, outgoing, social person who doesn't experience stress. I'm so glad it's almost over.
