IT'S A PRANK BRO IT'S A PRANK
I wish I was as smart as this kid. Guess I have another reason to be depressed now.
Yes, yes. We can use lasers to pop balloons, light stuff on fire, etc. But can we use them to cut pizza?

Sort of reminds me of that kids next door weapon
Wait, if some wavelengths scatter off air does that mean that some power is lost?
Yes, that's generally why industrial laser cutters or high energy lasers are more around the IR spectrum. Much less scatter/absorption due to air.

Same here. I once tried to make a laser using a lamp and some tin foil when I was 13, but I didn't know the first thing about actual lasers back then.
If I had the right equipment and the right environment nowadays I'd probably try to test out what'd happen if I shot a strong laser through a flame or electrical arc, but as it stands I can't even get into the bloody garage, let alone set up some sort of crazy Energy Weapons workshop down there, since it's full of old tat and boxes of food. Plus even if a burst from the laser resulted in some sort of energy projectile, it'd probably bloom out in the blink of an eye and I'd need to figure out how to sheathe it in some sort of magnetic bubble as it flew. Maybe some sort of magnetic aerosol?

The first step into blowing off people's arms with lasers. Ah, progress.

Just because it's science-y doesn't mean it's rocket science. It's never to late to learn something.

Yeah this is pretty low level shit within electronics to be honest.
You mostly just need to worry about buying the parts.
