• TF2 Updates, basically.

It was also confirmed that at his moment there is no Source 2 port in the works for TF2.
The comic isn't affiliated with updates. What have they promised update-wise?
further weapon balances, matchmaking, persistent beta releases of asteroid and cactus canyon, new map and gamemode with end of the line.
dw source 2 will fix it
They said they're not going to update it anytime soon. Which probably means " for the next two years"
Problem is even csgo is pretty much dead in terms of updates as well dota 2 seens to be doing fine though, as usual
lmao cs:go is getting bigger and bigger by the day pull your head out of your ass
further weapon balances, matchmaking, persistent beta releases of asteroid and cactus canyon, new map and gamemode with end of the line.
I still can't believe the End of the Line shit happened. I genuinely feel bad for TF2's playerbase that they got played like that, in reference to the map that they never added because they thought the community was too stupid to know how it worked.
lmao what very wrong you are
wickedplayer494 seems to have a very boring life
As much as I want to disagree with this, it's sadly true, I remember when the playerbase was peaking around 100k players a day. And to be honest, the only good thing with these lack of updates is that the custom gamemode I actively work on, doesn't get fucked over by weekly changes. But even then, the interest in modding is steadily dying because people are now able to go make their own games without having to mod another. So not even modding for TF2 is keeping the game alive for me anymore. If anything though, I think this planned matchmaking update that's been hinted for along time now is going to be a massive diaster due to heavy neglect and how broken certain weapons currently are. (Holiday Punch forcing ubered players to taunt) (Quickfix Medic with Powerjack Pyro) (Vaccinator Medic & Heavy) Oh and let's not forget that LMAOBOX is starting to resurface in pub servers due to the hype generated from the supposed update and I could see that being a huge issue. Plus I believe that there are people who have to stay on the TF Team due to TF2 still being a source of income for the company, so there's no way they'd just let everyone walk off to another team, which is probably why they share the same room with the CSGO team.
wickedplayer494 seems to have a very boring life
yeah, having an script that does the job for you automatically while you go do more important or fun things is pretty boring
Problem is even csgo is pretty much dead in terms of updates as well dota 2 seens to be doing fine though, as usual
No it's not lol Operation Breakout started like 3 weeks ago
What kind of updates does TF2 need, seriously? It has had just about every possible addition and update under the sun in the 8 years it has been around. It still has an active playerbase (even if it isn't as OMFG EVERYONE ON STEAM PLAYING AT ONCE full like it used to be). Of course there is nothing there for players who have spilled hundreds/thousands of hours into it. However it is still pretty popular amongst a casual crowd or the "I'm new to PC gaming" crowd, or people who got into it late (most nobody here).

Curse you Valve for shifting focus onto other games.

I thought it became way too cluttered for my liking.
They need to sit down and focus on balancing the game. TF2 could be a good competitive game once they get everything polished. Which is what they could be doing assuming they go through with their word of adding competitive matchmaking. Hats are whatever as long as they're not the priority focus like they have been forever. They can keep chugging hats into the game for all I care, as long as they have priorities elsewhere.
It was also confirmed that at his moment there is no Source 2 port in the works for TF2.
Considering how many things it would break, keeping it where it is would be preferable.

Which is why I find it odd everyone is upset at a lack/slowdown of updates. There are already a million maps too. The only thing they could add would be a new class or game mode, which are cool but it isn't like there isn't enough game modes already. Personally I avoid games that focus too heavily on competition, games where every design decision made in updates bows to the "pro-scene". It is one of the big reasons I can never get into MOBA's, despite me (in theory) liking such a genre since I've been a huge fan of RTS games. There are games for that and I don't think they should stop existing, but TF2 I don't think was ever really that game past the first year or two. Even then with how some of the maps are designed and the pacing of matches, I never thought of TF2 as a particularly competition-level game.
I feel like TF2 is the kind of game that deserves a legitimate sendoff, not just the game slowly fading into death as VALVe slowly runs out of ideas and updates and moves on to other projects. Do one last GIANT update with new and interesting weapons that actually change things up instead of a visually busy reskin with a dumb slight stat change, a map with effort put into it that respects the old '60s industrialist artstyle, something nice to end the game on. CP map where one team invades Mann. Co HQ, or a new play on 2fort, or something. Just do that, admit you're done with major updates and move on instead of leaving people in the cold like this.

The majority reason why CSGO and Dota are so big is because of streams and tournaments. The game will still have a server list and casual matchmaking so I don't see why this would matter at all to you. I'm not incredibly competitive when it comes to shooters either, but I play a lot of CS:GO casual.

Why does it need to be as big as the current most popular F2P game in the world or as big as the sequel to the most popular PC shooter in the world before TF2 came about? It still is the #3 top played game in steam consistently month after month, and even considering that has almost double the current players of any game below it in player rankings.
Tbh TF2 has been steadily dying since around the Mannconomy update, i'm surprised it hasn't just keeled over completely by now.
What? Mannoconomy was 2010, while the most new players flow was in 2011. The game did very good in 2012 as well.
What? Mannoconomy was 2010, while the most new players flow was in 2011. The game did very good in 2012 as well.
Hence steadily dying and not like some big death throes event thing. Mannconomy pretty much marked the beginning of the decline, if nothing else it was a "oh this can't be good" moment for a lot of us.
I realized they forgot to end mann co. store's summer sale after steam store summer sale ended.
What TF2 needs is Source 2.
This video makes some damn good points on Valve's recent TF2 updating. I don't think that the people who work on TF2 play the game.
We don't even need huge content updates honestly. Just occasionally add some community content to the game. There's so many maps that just get left to die because 80% of the habitable servers only run stock maps because quickplay enforces only default maps, MVM is also in desperate need of new content (we don't even need new maps, they could just easily make some new missions, or add some community created missions/maps). It's just frustrating at times because despite the game being big, they just sit there and do nothing with it.
I'm much more interested in the game universe then the game itself nowadays. I wish they got a show going on adult swim, as well as updating the comics more regularly.
Idunno, for me TF2 is the only multiplayer valve game I can find enjoyment out of (no offense to CSGO/Dota 2 fans, they're just not my cup of tea), and it just feels sad for me to see the game just sitting there with nothing being done with it. Even small content patches would suffice for me.
Honestly, I think the rampant additions of weapons and hats turned me away from the game. I thought it became way too cluttered for my liking.
If by "too cluttered" you mean "A one big children's birthday party" then yup.
I'm much more interested in the game universe then the game itself nowadays. I hardly even play anymore since it's a buggy mess.
