I'm not a fan of some western records being released in Japan with a special edition track/master just for that country. Happens way too often and it's weird.
It happens because albums in Japan cost a shitload
I'm looking at the metal scene
There's your problem. Metalheads are the second most close minded group of music fans, after /mu/
people calling metalheads closed-minded based on screaming 14 year olds who just discovered slayer
metalheads =/= internet metal nerds or just general metal nerds.

/mu/ isn't a hivemind tho
when people complain about a song because there is no singing.
Not all songs have to have vocals just for it to sound good.

I think it's because Japan has some kind of tax on foreign import CDs so they throw an extra track on the Japanese edition to compensate for the jacked up price.
Drunk people at gigs are one of the most annoying things in the world.
That and when you've got a nice spot at the front of a metal gig and some jackass behind you keeps trying to start a mosh pit so he can pull you back and take it. It's happened at every indoor gig I've been to.
whenever one of my favourite songs come up in a movie, I'm singing along and this distracts me from the movie.
that has to be a self-inflicted pet peeve. :v:

lol it really does extend far beyond that but yes it is typically only on the internet

It extends far beyond that friend, hit up a few local gigs round you and you'll see the kind of shit that resides there.

Some pretty chill guys who are up for a laugh and are generally nice people to be around?
Scenes are different in different places.
When you go to a dance and someone pushes their way down to the front then just stands there not dancing or anything

yeah pretty much. I know plenty of people through local gigs and while they might not have particularly eclectic tastes in music its not like they're particularly closed minded by any standards. i mean i don't go to as many gigs as i'd like but i'd say i go to 2-4 a month usually

The Liverpool metal scene must be balls compared to other places then, I've heard too many Megadeth covers and I don't even listen to them.
You would also imagine these people would be accepting of things people do. Singer for my mate's band was whining for like 20 minutes at me because I was smoking like 3 metres away from him and kept doing that annoying fake-cough while sippin' his Coke because he doesn't like drinking on stage. [sp]The drummer was just talking about his alleged 9-inch dick for half an hour when I first met him[/sp]
"Are you fucking dumb? This isn't x-metal, it's y-metal!"
"Are you fucking dumb? This isn't x-metal, it's y-metal!"
been seeing this a lot more than usual since the release of the new Deafheaven album. "oh it isn't true black metal!!"
-being too scared to crowdsurf due to the atrocious yet ever-present risk of getting groped
big lady problem at shows. i want to have fun and go nuts like everyone else, but that's harder when you're forced to be more concerned than you should ever have to be about the possibility of others violating your personal space in ways that are beyond uncomfortable, "oh, suck it up, we're all uncomfortable here" status and just plain not fucking okay status. i went ahead and did it when i saw infest at baltimore soundstage and it went fine, but like hell i'm ever doing that at any metal show. too many meatheads
-when records don't come with download codes
i really, really like to be able to listen to music on the go. and i have a really hard time ripping the music from vinyl myself. it's 2013. people need digital copies of their music. please
-nobody taking you seriously or moving an inch to any of your songs because everyone in your band is a little younger than the normal age for people playing hardcore shows
yeessss we're a little shrimpy but even chris moore from magrudergrind says we're fast and hard :(
-fat fucks in xibalba hoodies at punk shows who do nothing but fall on top of you repeatedly and hit people in the face while they're doing their big dumb sloshy pit moves.
(i'm tiny so this is a big deal for me ok)

well tbf i don't actually think of it as a metal album. I know post rock is a nebulous and poorly defined thing but whenever i listen to sunbather i hear mostly post rock. Thats not a bad thing, im actually positively inclined towards the music, but the metal in it serves a decorative/textural element rather than being a fundamental part of the music.
thinking about it one thing that does bother me is when people get mad for me calling something "not metal". I'm aware why it annoys people but honestly its not an insult. then again people who legitimately use "its not metal" as a reason for why a piece of music is supposedly bad wind me up just as much
octopusguy showed me the new dfhvn and um yeah it's a post rock album
not that that's a bad thing at all it's great it's beautiful music it's just really not a black metal record. it may have allusions to black metal here and there but damn son it's not a metal album, but who cares anyway? it's a good album with wonderful songs. hit the nail on the head, timmy, who the fuck cares whether it's metal or not? that has nothing to do with its quality
Daft Punk came off as incredibly pretentious when they came out with their whole ''music needs to be saved'' rhetoric and I think that attitude, as well as the massive amount of hype turned Random Access Memories into a disappointing album.
music needs to be saved. like this post if ur apart of the 3% of teens who don't listen to rap or dubstep

I could have put it down to translation errors if they didn't have a song called give life back to the music
When "la da dee da dai" and shit like that is used as lyrics.
Come on Steven Wilson, I want to love your solo stuff!
Albums(mostly rap) where the artist info is changed depending on the featured artists, like "Kanye West feat Kid Cudi" and shit. Shit gives me multiple artists on my ipod, some bullshit
just this
it bugs me so much
i usually have to spend ages filling in the composer boxes and editing the artist boxes on my itunes
pisses me off argh

this may be a little snobby
but when people don't realize that there are other digital formats other than mp3 and when purchasing an lp sometimes you receive a download code, 99% of the time it's in mp3, i know that i can convert it etc to alac if i want to, but hasn't it been realized that aac is a much more superior lossy format
[editline]7th June 2013[/editline]
plus nme coming out every week with "a new british indie guitar band to save guitar music"
FUCK SAKE.
why would you convert mp3 to alac?
lmao
