for the above reasons certain pages of the metal thread still have a special place in my hate glands
timmy understands my chronic frustration and disappointment
i'm a metalhead who plays dungeons and dragons chronic frustration and disappointment is all i can feel
you have to be chronically frustrated to be able to stand listening to metal in the first place
i'm chronically frustrated when funk isn't groovy.
i'm chronically frustrated
i identify as deeply immersed in angry culture

I want to start a melodic sludge grind band with lyrics about dungeons and dragons

The opening lyrics can even be:
i'm a metalhead who plays dungeons and dragons chronic frustration and disappointment is all i can feel

that would be some spoken word after a sample from a movie or speech that has somewhat political implications about the end of the world

We're going to have to make this now.
we'll record an EP and all the songs will have the same formula; movie sample, spoken word, cheesy melodic melodeath solo/riff, generic sludge riff, building up to a boring grind core segment.
incomprehensible growling that is allegedly about dungeons and dragons interspersed with voice clips of neckbeards whining about the petty frustrations that plague their basement-confined lives
"i can't believe these idiots are actually running a campaign on 4.0 *GWURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*"

where i must know about this ancient art
I was sent a load of pdfs of dnd books by someone and unfortunately there was a whole folder full of erotic roleplaying books.
I kind of hate it when people say "he's the new David Bowie or they are the new Beatles", that kind of thing... I've done this myself one time and I re-read it and it was incredibly dumb.
Why do people feel the need to label someone, as a version of someone else. It's really poor if you think about it.
Well yeah, it's creating an expectation of a new artist and implies that a new artist can't have an individual artistic presence.
Not completely, a few days ago I said this dude was the "Japanese David Bowie". This could mean good things, but it's mostly bad because his music really wasn't anything like his at all. I guess you have to read it in a certain way.
Super specific, but this group of kids in chorus/band in my school who act elitist about music. Whenever someone tries to question or argue with them they declare everything that someone says is invalid because they aren't in a music class :suicide:
i remember there was this one girl that thought all rock involved harsh vocals.
post-thread revival is good.
I hate the term "filler music".
I really hate it when easycore songs don't have a major key breakdown, dudes jumping during a guitar intro in a clip and gang vocals, like wtf are they even doing. that's not how you get people stoked
Wheezing. At least, that's what I think it's called when the singer's inhaling is constantly audible. My god, it annoys the fuck out of me.
And of course no song demonstrates this better than a Nickelback song.

I think he does it on every single song but I don't listen enough to muse to confirm this (nor do I want to listen to that much muse)

that are not nearly enough boxes to get through this cold ass winter

He does. Every single song

At least each of their listenable songs
-People labeling anything that doesn't have an obscenely obvious style as Indie Rock.
-The over-saturation of nonstop, mindless guitar riffs in Metal music. Pretty much the same thing with drumming. I know this is a blurred line for the genre, but I occasionally wanna hear more music than noise.
-The "Mainstream VS Obscure" stigma that dominates--and perhaps ruined--the entire music industry. The only reason good music is actually obscure is because self proclaimed "Hipsters" occupy and claim it, thus completely turning off the public's interest. As well as those people's tendencies to condemn and unfairly debunk anything that becomes remotely popular, even if they once enjoyed it. Effectively making them clockwork-hypocrites.
-The injection of Rap artists into most popular songs, or at least those played on the radio. You can produce good music without devoting at least two minutes of a track to a Rapper nobody's even heard of.
-Too much Repetition. I know modern music of any style relies on it, but if less than 5% of the lyrics are unique, non-repeated material, it's gonna get dull extremely fast.
-Generic, formulaic lyrics. I think almost all genres are afflicted with this in different forms. A really good example of what I mean is in Imagine Dragons' song lyrics. You can sense a poorly hidden formula for the words, usually relying on the use of any 3 syllable word from time to time, generic whining about 'darkness inside' or their 'inner demons', and lying all of this under a catchy tune so that nobody will notice or care. It's a really common problem, and easy to detect if you can't read a song's lyrics monotonously without stopping and realizing that none of it makes any goddamn sense. And that's the problem--when in song form, people can throw any lyrics into a mixing bowl effortlessly, then be praised for how 'deep' they are.
These are just petty complaints, but that pretty much sums up everything that really annoys me in music.
