Oh yeah 1408 was good. I was startled in a few parts from that.
The only other one that I can think of off the top of my head that hasn't been listed is "Session 9"....I felt genuine dread watching that movie.
Not really scary, but I enjoyed it a lot.
You could also watch somebody play Penumbra.
the shining and the silence of the lambs.
I wouldn't call it scary exactly... but I thought it was good. The Descent.
2001: A Space Odyssey Not really a scary movie, but it's the most uncomfortable and psychologically disturbed I've ever been watching a movie. [editline]12:57AM[/editline]
I like the end of that movie.
Did you know there's a sequel?
just watched alien, thats pretty spooky
I wouldn't call it scary exactly... but I thought it was good. The Descent.
That was the first one we ended up renting, and was pleasantly surprised with it. I was actually more afraid of some of the stunts they were pulling in the cave than the actual horror. Fucking claustrophobia. I had also rented Dog Soldiers, personal favourite of mine, and didn't actually know both movies were directed by the same guy.
I once saw Mirrors, it wasn't that scary, but still a good watch.
Movies don't really scare me but games do. Movies just usually startle me. Only movies I can name are The Shining, and the Japanese version of The Ring.
Teeth. :tinfoil:

The rest, not so much.
The only other one that I can think of off the top of my head that hasn't been listed is "Session 9"....I felt genuine dread watching that movie.
Really? I heard it was really good, got psyched up to watch it. I made it about 5 minutes in before I turned it off. So low budget, incredibly shitty acting. I just couldn't keep watching.
I watched The Thing before, didn't really seem scary, just really gory. I jumped when the blood reacted because I didn't expect it to be that dramatic, but that was it.
I haven't seen too many movies that I'd consider legitimately scary. Paranormal Activity scared the fuck out of me... Everything else just relies on gore, screaming, shit popping out at you, etc [editline]04:48AM[/editline] Dead Silence was pretty damn good, too
Paranormal Activity was pretty horrible IMO, I guess I just don't scare easy from movies. It all seemed pretty predictable.
It's really easy for me to put myself in other people's shoes. Not to simply empathize with them, but to feel see/hear/feel/think what they are in any given moment. The terror I felt during that movie (and for many weeks after) was unbelievable. I've never really been afraid of the dark (and much less of the paranormal), but at night, my mind starts going crazy... things that normally seem impossible suddenly seem plausible... I have a tendency to freak myself out in a dark room... That, and I was really fucking blazed when I saw it
I think the latter probably accounted for most of it.
Also: It's kinda hard to explain, but when I watch a movie (one that can hold my interest), I become hyperfocused on the movie. It used to happen to me when I read, too. Eventually, I will get so absorbed into the story that I lose all sense of self. I pay no attention, consciously or subconsciously, to my environment. I'm not just watching the movie, I'm living it. [editline]04:59AM[/editline]
I think the latter probably accounted for most of it.
I dunno... I'm pretty weird when it comes to the paranormal. I don't believe in any of it, but it creeps me the fuck out.
Just watched the last 15 minutes of Quarantine an I am usually tolerant to scary movies. This movie however scared the shit out of me.

The acting is way better, and it being in spanish almost gave it a creepier atmosphere just because it made you pay attention more. Also, here's my "review" (more of a commentary) of Paranormal Activity via a facebook status. I'm thinking of doing them for more movies too if people like them. Also, there's spoilers in it.
dude i fucking flip a shit at this scene every time
oh god oh god oh jesus that scene scares the shit out of me. theres not even a reason, it's scary..the second the alien walks across I go "AJNKZNJKS MZNKJA M"
I recommend "The Changeling", it's about a man who moves into a old house, only to discover it's haunted. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080516/
John Carpenter's The Thing. My all time favorite horror flick. It's also one of the sources of inspiration for Dead Space. Here's the trailer. For those of you that have seen it, here's a somewhat humorous take on the blood test scene in which MacReady is a wee bit slow on the evolving situation at hand. Spoilers!
I know it's been said, but Fuckin' jeez.
