when I saw that post last night I thought it was fake due to the fresh banana peel, thinking the story was going to be "oh wow this must have been some kid's hangout before we moved here" but then I went back to the text. Interesting, but still sounds off

These little girls all look like my niece, Cossette.
I adopted her a few months ago, so she's been living with me and Molly, but I never really noticed the resemblance until I googled "Moustacheman facepunch" to find out what hideous art from the Deviantart Appreciation Station could be linked back to me.

I dunno, it just seemed off.
Ever had a banana peel just laying around? They rot pretty fast, after 30-ish minutes, a perfectly yellow banana peel would already have large black and brown spots, not to mention the inner side of the banana peel would be completely brown-ish.
So, someone ate a banana, tossed the peel, and then just a few minutes after someone apparently finds this bookshelf door, where would this mysterious character have gone in those few minutes if the only exit is the bookshelf?
Seems off to me but eh, spooky stories, right.
They definitely just contrived the story for the shivers with a cool house feature they happen to have
Wow I just remembered what happened to me on the 1 January 2004 or 2005 (I forgot) at 02:00 o clock on an empty playground:
I was walking with my cousin in this small city here in germany to see the fireworks and at about 01:30 o clock it all stopped and people went to party or sleep. We both kept walking around and went to this empty big playground to play some, he then said "let's go home" but I kept playing and he walked out first, so when I walked out he was about 30-50 metres ahead of me so I was there at the entrance of the playground all alone and about to leave when this really far away loud voice called me "Doooomiiniiiiiiik" I turned around and my ears picked that calling up as if it was coming from the end of the playground.
I quickly ran to my cousin and asked him if he heard it, he told me "no what do you mean?" and no he was not fooling me because his voice is completely different and he was in a completely different direction aswell. The voice was so loud that I asked him several times if he heard it and he told me he did not hear anything at all (everything was completely silent)
That shit is not made up and I don't like to think about it, what the fuck was that seriously. The voice sounded so faded and distant.

At least it's not as bad as Nuclear War or a great plague, those are much more horrifying because you might survive when no one else has for miles around.
Imagine, if everyone you know died to a virus and you survived. When the food in the grocery store spoils things will get bad fast.
At least after an asteroid impact, the area isn't saturated with radiation or teeming with some sort of virus. Unless the asteroid is radioactive or bearing extraterrestrial bacteria, or both. But most likely asteroid impacts cause heavy burst to the infrastructure but not as much lingering DoT, so impact zones can still be lived in and recolonized.

Yeah but he's commenting on how it's an odd thing to use for scale. And it is - they rot quickly, so the person would have to go back up the stairs, eat a banana, bring the peel back down and place it.
