The first story might be a typed-out version of the letter the guy left behind, thus giving logic to the abrupt ending. The second story feels like the retrospective thoughts of a dead person though, so it doesn't make sense to have it end in the same fashion as the first story.

Found this on facebook. Translated it into English. Small back-story from me: In Norway, there's a lot of organized begging in the streets, mostly by Romanians or so-called "Gypsies". These people can be seen on the streets, begging for money one day, then seen in a black suit driving a fancy car five hours later. That's an example from what a friend of mine has already seen. I don't know if this is true or not, but it is actually likely to have some truth in it. It's more of a sorta scary truth than a spooky story, though,
Why does the child ALWAYS sleep in the hands of the BEGGAR? If you have ever wondered of exactly this; please read trough the whole story which has been written and put out on the internet by an unknown person. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Why does the child ALWAYS sleep in the hands of the BEGGAR? Close to a subway-station sits a woman of unknown age. The womans hair is tangled and dirty, and she has her head bent over in sorrow. She sits on a dirty concrete floor and a plastic bag lies at her side. People passing by can throw money in this bag to help her. There is a two year old baby sleeping in the arms of the woman. The child is always wearing dirty clothes... "Madonna and the child" - Many people that are passing by want to donate money. People of our type - that pity the less lucky people. We are always ready for giving these unlucky humans our last coins from our pockets, and believe we have done a good deed. Because when we help, we feel "Good job done"... I passed by a beggar for a month, without giving her money. Because I understood, deep inside, that this had to be a fraud, and that the money collected by the beggar would be given to those who control the beggars in the area. These people own luxurious properties and nice cars. Those who beg will also get something, of course. "A bottle of vodka and a Kebab". One month later, I passed by the beggar once more. Suddenly, like a shock, it dawned on me... I'm standing in a busy intersection, staring at the child, dressed in the dirty clothes as always. I realized that it seemed too "wrong" that a child should be here - on a dirty underground station, from early in the morning to late at night. The baby was sleeping. One would never hear sobbing or weeping coming from the child. The baby slept all the time, and the face was buried in the lap of the woman that was his so-called "Mother". Does anyone of you, dear readers, children of your own? Do you remember how often they slept at the age of 1 to 3 years? An after-noon-nap would probably last for an hour, maybe two, maximum three hours, and then they are all ready for more adventures. And trough the whole month, every day as I was wandering in the underground, I never saw a child that was awake! One day I stopped and watched at the tiny "man", with his face buried down in his "mother's" lap. My suspicions built up. - Why should he sleep all the time? I asked his "mother" directly of this while I continued staring down at the baby. The beggar acted like she didn't understand me. She looked down, and hid her face in the collar of a damaged jacket. I repeated the question: "Why does he sleep all the time?" The woman looked a little upwards. She looked away somewhere behind my back, tired and annoyed. Her look reminded me more of a creature from another planet. - Fuck off... She said quietly. - "Why does he sleep all the time!" I almost cried... Behind me, someone put their hand on my shoulder, and I looked back. An older gentleman stood there, staring at me with an unsatisfied look. -What do you want with her?! Can't you see how hard her life is..? Eh... He took some coins up from his pocket, and put it in the plastic bag. The beggar did a hand-movement like a cross, and portraits her face of sorrow and humbleness. The elderly man removed his hand from my shoulder, and walked out of the underground station. I bet; that at home, he tells about how he defended a poor woman from a soulless man down at the underground station. The next day, I called a "friend". It was a funny man with eyes like olives. He was of Romanian nationality, and he only managed to do three and a half years of education. But even with the lack of education, it didn't hinder him from moving around the streets, driving in pretty expensive cars and live in a "small" house with many windows and balconies. With the help of my "friend", I managed to find out about this organization, that was in fact very organized! The begging is supervised by organized criminals. They have their own "begging-rings", and many of the children that are being used are either "loaned" from alcoholic families, or simply stolen! I needed an answer for my question - "Why does the baby really sleep?" And I got one.. My "firend" - "Gypsy", told me with a calm voice while I cringed in shock. It was like he talked about the weather: - "They are either on heroin, or vodka".. I was speechless. "Who is on heroin, who? - Or vodka?" He answered - "The child; so that it won't sob or cry. The women is supposed to sit there the whole day long with it on their laps. Just imagine how annoying the child would be without it? To get the child to sleep all day, it gets pumped up with vodka or drugs! And everyone knows that the children's bodies won't handle such a shock like that. Many of the children has died because of this. But the most terrifying is - sometimes the baby dies during "working hours", while the "mother" will have to continue holding it in her hands until dawn. Those are the rules! Random people that are passing by will continue to throw their money in the bag. They will think they are helping a poor, lone woman that has no place to live. The next day I went to the same underground station. I manned up with a journalistic identity, and was ready for a serious discussion. But that just went bad. Instead, the following happened... A woman sat on the floor with a child in her hands. I asked her a question of if she had the documents on the child, and most important, where the child from yesterday went. I was simply ignored... But my questions were not ignored by the people passing by. I was told that I was a thoughtless person if I talked like that to a poor beggar with a child. I was shamefully escorted out of the underground station, so all I could do was to call the police. The police arrived, but both the beggar and the child was already gone. So there I stood, with a very disappointed feeling. When you see in the underground, on the streets, women with children that are begging; think about it before reaching down in your pockets. This organization wouldn't exist if it wasn't because of all the money that is given. The organization would die - Not the children! Don't look at the sleeping child with passion. Look at it with fear, and think about what it is going trough. (This video is linked) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNOlt4fG7Pg

had a good setup but nothing particularly spooky happens, and there's very little suspense because of it
Yeah, It was supposed to be a skinwalker story but you really have to keep those subtle now, otherwise they just get shat on/called out immediately. Next time I write one I'm going to go for something a bit more original (which is difficult because of the span things like bigfoot, slenderman, and goatmen/skinwalkers have now).

Cool, I don't know what I was looking for last night, but I ended up reading about a 'ritual' or 'game' of some sort called Three kings. I liked reading the stuff and I found out something even more cool, also creepy when someone linked an article which explained this stuff with science.
An intriguing article has just been published in the journal Perception about a never-before-described visual illusion where your own reflection in the mirror seems to become distorted and shifts identity. To trigger the illusion you need to stare at your own reflection in a dimly lit room. The author, Italian psychologist Giovanni Caputo, describes his set up which seems to reliably trigger the illusion: you need a room lit only by a dim lamp (he suggests a 25W bulb) that is placed behind the sitter, while the participant stares into a large mirror placed about 40 cm in front. The participant just has to gaze at his or her reflected face within the mirror and usually “after less than a minute, the observer began to perceive the strange-face illusion”. The set-up was tried out on 50 people, and the effects they describe are quite striking: At the end of a 10 min session of mirror gazing, the participant was asked to write what he or she saw in the mirror. The descriptions differed greatly across individuals and included: (a) huge deformations of one’s own face (reported by 66% of the fifty participants); (b) a parent’s face with traits changed (18%), of whom 8% were still alive and 10% were deceased; (c) an unknown person (28%); (d) an archetypal face, such as that of an old woman, a child, or a portrait of an ancestor (28%); (e) an animal face such as that of a cat, pig, or lion (18%); (f ) fantastical and monstrous beings (48%). Caputo suggests that the dramatic effects might be caused by a combination of basic visual distortions affecting the face-specific interpretation system. The visual system starts to adapt after we receive the same information over time (this is why you can experience visual changes by staring at anything for a long time) but we also have a system that interprets faces very easily. This is why we can ‘see’ faces in clouds, trees, or even from just two dots and a line. The brain is always ‘looking for faces’ and it is likely that we have a specialised face detection system to allow us to recognise individuals whose faces actually only differ a small amount in statistical terms from other people’s. According to Caputo’s suggestion, the illusion might be caused by low level fluctuations in the stability of edges, shading and outlines affecting the perceived definition of the face, which gets over-interpreted as ‘someone else’ by the face recognition system. More mysterious, however, were the participants’ emotional reactions to the changes: The participants reported that apparition of new faces in the mirror caused sensations of otherness when the new face appeared to be that of another, unknown person or strange `other’ looking at him/her from within or beyond the mirror. All fifty participants experienced some form of this dissociative identity effect, at least for some apparition of strange faces and often reported strong emotional responses in these instances. For example, some observers felt that the `other’ watched them with an enigmatic expression – situation that they found astonishing. Some participants saw a malign expression on the ‘other’ face and became anxious. Other participants felt that the `other’ was smiling or cheerful, and experienced positive emotions in response. The apparition of deceased parents or of archetypal portraits produced feelings of silent query. Apparition of monstrous beings produced fear or disturbance. Dynamic deformations of new faces (like pulsations or shrinking, smiling or grinding) produced an overall sense of inquietude for things out of control. If any Mind Hacks readers try the illusion out for themselves, I’d be fascinated to hear about your experiences in the comments.
http://mindhacks.com/2010/09/18/the-strange-face-in-the-mirror-illusion/ If someone wants to read these too in the subreddit are many.

My room is set up exactly the way it describes; my lamp is directly next to the head of my bed, and I have closet doors with mirrors a little bit off from the foot of the bed. I always wondered why that happens.
It has happened to me also. I automatically avoid looking at mirrors when dark and I don't keep a mirror in my room.

If you look in the mirror in a dark room and say a special rhyme, the ghost of the white lady will appear in the mirror. Me and my friends did this as kids. We saw our own faces and pooped our pants.
Sounds like Bloody Mary.
It has happened to me also. I automatically avoid looking at mirrors when dark and I don't keep a mirror in my room.
Mirrors and darkness don't mix well, especially if you've been looking at certain things. For example, afterimages can form if you look at something bright for too long, like looking at a lightbulb and seeing a coloured shape in the shape of the light even after you look away, plus staring at a computer monitor all day seems to give me this weird "film grain/dry rain" optical effect when I look away, possibly related to afterimage principle and all those pixels shining their lights in certain patterns. Couple those things with a dark room, a reflection, and the human mind playing tricks; you'll end up seeing strange things that you might not want to see. Especially if you're only half-awake and your mind is still coming out of a dream; looking into a dark mirror would be a pretty bad thing for one's sanity depending on what you end up seeing...

I was laying in my bed two nights ago, with my girlfriend beside me. I got up to get us some chocolate milk, and when I came back she was petrified. I asked her what happened and she said she saw something moving around the curtains and she took a picture of it. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out what I was looking at but I figured it out. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/wyT3Ebj.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
