Musicman Stingray PBB H 3EQ
I want :C
I'm gonna be getting my first bass come income tax time. Anyone have any recommendations for a guitar and amp for $500, I'm probably going to be playing things like Tool, Rush, Mastodon, and other metal things. Also I do tend to learn toward Fender Jazz basses a lot.
I run it through a peavey, sounds nice.
Carvin makes great amps, i reccomend them. A friend of mine owns the 600 watt combo amp, its a pretty powerful amp with some serious presence. As for basses.......I say make a trip to guitar center or any other music store near you and try out a whole bunch before you buy.
Fuck nucleardwarf I have NEVER seen you post anything that isn't a picture of your bass
Squier VM series, or the CV series.
Though if you need an amp as well I suggest this, this or this.
I'm thinking of buying a bass, do you think i should get an Epiphone EB-0 or a cheap P-bass? It would be my first bass.

I'm gonna get that Vintage Modified Jazz bass, and I've been thinking about either going with this Acoustic or this Behringer.

That shit was AWESOME to see live. I saw Rush at Red Rocks in Denver this year; I was amazed how fucking powerful that bass' presence was, and I was in like row 40. That bass punched me in the chest.

Roland MicroCube Bass

It's not much, but it's mine.
Those roland amps are great, I have the Microcube Bass RX and power it from a car jump-start pack. Great for busking.
Yeah, I got it from the SA bass thread and when I went to pick it up the store guy said it was awesome and near indestructible. I like it a lot.

Recommendations for amp or bass? - I'd be going for a new amp if it is shit, I hated the sound of my stingray till I got a half decent amp, it was like removing wool from my ears. Very nice bass! :D
yeah man, music man makes some quality basses and yeah i should prob invest in a better amp but my band bought a nice bass amp with some of the money we made from shows and such. With college we're kind of not playing many shows because of how hectic it is so that's kind of the appeal of the acoustic. Idk Thoughts?
I don't believe that I'm saying this, but Dean makes them.
Are you talking about amps or acoustics?
[editline]31st December 2010[/editline]
also, i'm really wanting to get a nice one (of whatever i choose to get). I don't know too much about acoustics but i know what to look for in amps. So i don't need too much help in that aspect
Anyone know any decent artists to look at for a beginner of bass? I'm trying to get some speed going (I pick as well), I've made a start with the into riff to Master of Puppets but I know I need to start a little slower. I also have the exact same guitar as Banned?.
Red Hot Chili Peppers has some good slapping stuff that's pretty easy.
How much of a beginner are you?

This ones fun to play, but I still suck at it.

Speaking of which, I've been looking for a new bass to start saving up for, has anyone had any personal experience with Fleabass's? Not just what you heard or whatever.
I tried one, but it sounds like it's made of cardboard.
Anyone have an idea what bass Audie Pitre from Acid Bath played? It looks like a Carvin LB70 but I'm not sure, the paint job throws me off.

People have got some great tones out them with a pickup upgrade. I have only had contact with one for around 5 minutes however, I didn't notice anything outright horrible about it. I've played far worse basses with frets made out of razor blades.
The rig I posted on the first page is the one I used in two chili peppers tribute bands. I was always a fan of the older tones flea got which is what my setup is largely influenced by.

On the pops on the song be really staccato.
Also, i would recommend either what i have: and ernie ball music man bongo or stingray because they have really good tone for funk and stuff like RHCP
I have a question, this has two inputs, so does that mean I can plug in two bass's into it, or even possibly use it as 2 channels like one for clean then run a petal through the other channel?

Sweep picking sound check, I just wanted to check how I sound away from the instrument and I have to say that I am pretty sloppy at sweep picking. But not bad for only 3 hours practice over three days.
My fingers look freakishly long at the end of the video.
I would also like to hear opinions on the video.

Would be easier if we just had the one thread to be honest.
