Combo amp, only 2 small holes for pressure escape, not enough, removed backplate off box housing speaker, is this safe?
People don't seem to realise that the speaker enclosure is an integral part of the speaker design. Tampering with it will cause the speaker to be less efficient or more efficient at pointless frequencies. The enclosure design is based around the drivers's Thiele/Small parameters which dictate how the speaker "Behaves". You then find you are turning it up because of the efficiency loss, at which point you are pushing the speaker way too hard and then you fry your speaker. Generally, I wouldn't recommend it. This of course only applies IF the enclosure has been properly designed. Many cheap amps aren't "Designed" and they just shove a random speaker in a conveniently sized box and hope it works. Not Ideal.
Fuck I want me one of those, are they good?
I know that they neck dive like a motherfucker
Well no shit but there are several kinds of 205's. I don't see the one I have on their website tho.
Uh, didn't know that. As far as I'm aware the GSR series are dealt into the 200, 200 FM and 205. They may come in different colors but that's about all I know about the differences per model.
Got my main bass (Ibanez SR706) back from the shop yesterday, they were performing some much-needed maintenance on it. My other six string, a Dean Edge 6 Fretless: My first bass, a Squier Precision. I put some Steve Harris strings on it, and it plays much better. Now I just need some active electronics. My amp head, a Hartke 7000: Main cab, Avatar 410 Neo: And my pedals are a Boss Compression Sustainer, an Ibanez Delay Champ, and a ProCo Rat Fuzz. Don't feel like finding pictures.
I'd love a couple of avatar 1x12" cabs but I am in the UK :(
Got one of these babies last month, and i'm in love with it

Thinking about picking up a bass for less than $200 CAD. I would just use my Marshall 250DFX for it at low volumes as I don't really care about it's well being if something were to happen to it. It would be for jazz/metal/rock, 5/4 string is cool, anyone have recommendations on a bass then? I was thinking about jsut getting one of those Rogue 4/5 string $119 basses, anyone have experience with them?
I'ts beautiful!
Plays beautifully too, and I was surprised how nice the neck was for a 6 string. I was afraid that it was going to be like a baseball bat, like previous 6 strings I've played, but this one isn't as fat, and is extremely comfortable.

Also, don't use your guitar amp. Unless it's a very high wattage, it will probably get blown out almost immediatly.
I started with a Rebel 4K too! I still use it, It's a decent bass when set up correctly.
I started with a Rebel 4K too! I still use it, It's a decent bass when set up correctly.
Mine was cool, I liked it, but after moving onto my V1005, I just prefered the... everything, of it. Shame really, it looked fucking awesome in bright orange. :v:

Does this look like a good amp? http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-BXL450-45-Watt-2-Channel-Workstation/dp/B000LQ29UC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1298320987&sr=1-1 I'd really rather spend no more then 150, which is where this one is at. [editline]21st February 2011[/editline] I don't gig or plan too any time soon, I just want a nice sounding practice amp.

It would be used at low volumes, so it would be fine. I used a bass through my 15watt Fender DSP solid state before, it is fine. I've already read about using basses through guitar amps. [editline]21st February 2011[/editline] At least until I get a cheap bass amp.
Started playing bass about 7 months ago, and I've been playing it religiously ever since started out with a shitty crescent bass and about 3 months ago i moved up to a sterling ray 34, its awesome
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c4lmchwNkQ i play a cheap ass ibanez 6 string
My first bass's neck failed because it was too poorly build so I have to get a new one this week.
Whats the best place to find a cheep bass? Just one to mess around on, nothing to grand.
Whats the best place to find a cheep bass? Just one to mess around on, nothing to grand.
pawn shop
That shit is expansive, Ill save up a bit.
That's still quite cheap for a bass though. Good basses go from €500,- up.
Why is tablature upside down?
Why is tablature upside down?
It makes more sense for the lower notes to be at the bottom. It'd be a bit backwards to have them at the top. It also semi reflects sheet music where the lower you go the lower the note. Could it make sense to do it the other way? Yes, but it'd seem more backwards. Some people look up guides on how to read tabs, but it instinctively clicked with me because the way it is makes sense. I don't think there would be any advantage gained in flipping it.
Like Pepin said, it just makes more sense to me.
You have your guitar in your lap. You look down at it. You look at the tab. It's the exact same. Tab just needs common sense it's not hard.
I own an Ibanez SR705 bass. It's really great. I have lent it to my friend atm, so no pictures for now.
Why is tablature upside down?
I don't suppose, if you play games, that you play them inversed, like control scheme wise? [editline]22nd February 2011[/editline] Is it bad I don't want to buy Ibanez basses because I really hate how they look?
