I felt like that throughout the Amy/Rory saga. He was never highlighted despite being (in my opinion) a better actor and more interesting character.
I liked Rory more than Amy

Amy just kinda became... I don't know, someone who was just there. I wish Rory got more interaction, I found he was far more interesting.

Karen is a skilled actor. When you look at how she is in reality compared to Amy you see it. It's just her character wasn't that interesting beyond the gimmick used to introduce her. She was sorta cold and strong willed more than any other companion. She became hard to relate to.
Rorys bumbling was always enjoyable and he seemed real.
the problem imo is that they set her up in promos as a completely different character than any previous companions and as a role model

It's a shame Moffat thinks he's REALLY funny. It's where problems seep in. Like Amy always wearing and mentioning her fucking skirts after it popped up in the papers.
