It just seems odd that they'd use an actress for one character, and use here again in the same series. Usually for television shows they'll keep an actor or actress off for a few seasons before having them return as a new character.
Then you remember.. Anybody else read that in Moffats voice and find themselves putting thick prolonged emphasis on "feed" in his trademark Scottish tones?
49 tomorrow.

One Dalek, Two Dalek. Red Dalek, Blue Dalek.
1 year till the most exciting TV event of my life so far.
That Dr Wheuss Pandorica thing is pretty damn good; reflects Rory's dedication in a Seussian format.
oooh i'm all giddy like :~)

You should have seen some of the out-takes from that scene. There's one where he does it all stony-faced and unemotional, and there's another where he's pretty much having a breakdown. The one they chose was kind of in-between.
oooh I want to see those! You guys are heartless! I felt pretty bad for The Doctor. It was perfectly in character too. The Tenth Doctor couldn't stand change. He struggled with himself to replace his companions, mourned them when they left and constantly longed for his past. It got me "right in the feels" as the kids might say.
They have been on YouTube for years now, they are around somewhere. RE: Tenth Doctor... sums up my thoughts.
The character is ugly. Hugely flawed. Yet he's one of the most popular interpretations of the role ever, and The End of Time is one of the most popular episodes of the show ever (based on audience figures and Audience Appreciation Index results). That's pretty fascinating, as far as I'm concerned. The Tenth Doctor is both illuminating and repellent, both the romantic hero and the tortured lunatic. Every aspect of this duality is mined for all its worth by David Tennant. If you dislike the Tenth Doctor, try to think of him as someone you're supposed to dislike a bit, and that makes some episodes vastly more interesting and bearable. I'll be blunt: the Tenth Doctor is, personally, far from my favourite incarnation, and quite a few of the arguments presented here are highly subjective and represent a minority of fandom, but nonetheless, he's still the Doctor. Yes, he's one of my least favourites, but he's still the Doctor. By virtue of this fact, well, he can't help but be a little bit brilliant, can he?
I think he also cast too large a shadow over the show, if that's even possible or makes any sense. Which goes back to my earlier post about not being too fussed if he returned or not, because it's like he never left. If Smith does anything, the vocal fanbase snaps to declaring how Tennant could have done it four-times better. If the Eleventh Doctor solves a problem, the Tenth Doctor could have done it quicker. When 11 cries, 10 cried harder. Bah, to hell with all of them. I want Hartnell back.

By all means point out flaws with the character but the fact the 'fans' annoyingly contrast Smith and Tennant shouldn't impose on your own opinion of the character. That's just a frustrating side-effect of us being fans and taking every piece of criticism to show to heart and has nothing to do with Tennant. You must've enjoyed him to have watched for all those years surely? But while I feel your point is an unfair criticism of Tennant it's something I noticed myself and it's true. It's the exact reason I want Tennant to come back. To see them interacting together and working as a team (perhaps criticising each-other) will help reinforce the idea with the audience that comparing them is futile as they are supposed to be very different and it's not a mistake in writing or performance. Also at the end of the episode when Tennant leaves (again) the audience will probably feel like they got to say goodbye properly and it will put a lot of the "I miss David" and "bring back David" comments to bed. Specially if at the end the Tenth accepts the Eleventh as his successor. It gives the 'passing-of-the-torch' feeling and helps affirm that the Tenth Doctor is in the past and still exists. In a wibbily wobbly context. That part wasn't a criticism of Tennant or 10 , it was of the aforementioned clingy fans. I have nothing against Tennant as an actor, I just wasn't the biggest fan of his portrayal.
You must've enjoyed him to have watched for all those years surely?
It was all down to the writing. For me, Series Two was burdened by 10/Rose which I just hated. Absolutely hated. But then she was gone, so onwards we went. I greatly enjoyed Series Three, and preferred seeing Ten with Martha. I just wish RTD hadn't chosen the same "companion loves The Doctor" route. Series Four was pretty solid, Tennant and Tate were great together. Yes, I was mostly enjoying Ten(nant) up to this point. But almost in a blink of an eye, I was ready for him to go. After Journey's End and the specials. The not-so-special specials. Time Lord Victorious et al. While, without a doubt, humanising The Doctor worked for so many people, I for one was glad to see the lever flicked in the other direction when 11 arrived. It just got depressing. Even Tennant was wary of "I don't want to go." The confidential episode is out there to prove it. I could probably have summed this all up by saying [sp]it was RTD's fault[/sp]
[sp]it was RTD's fault[/sp]
amen to that
Bill Bailey gets me moist
i forgot, what time does doctor who come on again on BBC?

It honestly didn't play on my mind after it happened. There was 3 months in-between. It wasn't awkward at all. S
