New Doctor, New Companions, New Sonic Screwdriver, New TARDIS, New Theme, New Writers, New Music, etc.
They changed everything at once and made it feel like a completely different show, and River Song was the only character that appeared in the last couple of seasons that was in Season 5, but she was only in one David Tennant story.
In Season 6 they tried to make it feel like the same show again but they didn't go far enough, reintroducing some old races and shit but never any real old characters.
Let us bring Rose back. She hasn't been seen enough.
Doctor Who doesn't need to hold on to past characters for normal serial runs. Doesn't seem like a "completely different show" to me. Series 5 had River, Angels, Daleks, Judoon, Sontarans, Hoix, Cybermen, Autons...
The Doctor, Companion, TARDIS, Sonic Screwdriver, Credits, Music... have all changed many times over many years and is frankly the reason it's still successful.
God forbid Steven Moffat wake up one morning and decided "What I really need to do is try my hardest to over old ground every few episodes."
In one year's time!

He lost a lot of weight. When I met him he had so much fat I actually suspected he had swallowed a planet.

Thanks for ruining it all
It makes sense what you're saying but I think it is kinda unfair as a criticism. By all means point out flaws with the character but the fact the 'fans' annoyingly contrast Smith and Tennant shouldn't impose on your own opinion of the character. That's just a frustrating side-effect of us being fans and taking every piece of criticism to show to heart and has nothing to do with Tennant. You must've enjoyed him to have watched for all those years surely?
But while I feel your point is an unfair criticism of Tennant it's something I noticed myself and it's true. It's the exact reason I want Tennant to come back. To see them interacting together and working as a team (perhaps criticising each-other) will help reinforce the idea with the audience that comparing them is futile as they are supposed to be very different and it's not a mistake in writing or performance. Also at the end of the episode when Tennant leaves (again) the audience will probably feel like they got to say goodbye properly and it will put a lot of the "I miss David" and "bring back David" comments to bed. Specially if at the end the Tenth accepts the Eleventh as his successor. It gives the 'passing-of-the-torch' feeling and helps affirm that the Tenth Doctor is in the past and still exists. In a wibbily wobbly context.

Gallifrey Base - EVERYBODY ELSE IS WROOOOOONG
The main reason why the transition between 10 and 11 was fucked was that 10 never passed the torch on to 11, and outright didn't want 11 to exist, which is way too harsh.
The "I Don't Want to Go" was just too much and ultimately ruined 11 as being recognized the way all other Doctors were (except 6 and 7, and maybe 8, but that isn't really the fan's fault either)
I don't think any doctor generally "wants to go" as it essentially means death for them.
I mean, look at the second doctor. He was forced to regenerate against his will by the timelords when he was exiled to Earth.
Yeah pretty sure the second doctor screamed and begged not to go and it didn't hurt Three.
The countdown has begun..

I'm not counting but [sp]five years and four months since I declared this day would arrive.[/sp]
The tenth doctor always said 'Allons-y' which is french for "lets go".
When he died he said "I dont want to go".

It makes sense.
Is the title 'The Snowmen' or 'The Snowman'? I definitely prefer the second.
Snowmen..
...because there's more than one.
Though, I'm sure everyone would be happy with just this one. The BBC must know that, to release promo material with him.

Gee those snowmen look quite terrifying.

Also christ, every episode poster for the latest series has just been a clusterfuck and not really very likable
I liked them all. Specially Daleks, Angels and that.
The Dinosaurs on a Spaceship one was just so crappily photoshopped:

"Would I like to be involved? If I told you that, I'd have to shoot you,"
- Christopher Eccleston on the 50th Anniversary special

"I nearly said something I shouldn't!"
- David Tennant asked if he's coming back

"I can't imagine there even are going to be any anniversary celebrations, are there? Look at my agent getting twitchy."
- David Tennant again dropping very obvious hints that don't get him in trouble with contracts

It's also clear from his body language and how he "errms" and hesitates after the Who question that Chris was watching what he said VERY carefully. I think Chris and David are a must for the production team if anybody.
That or he genuinely hasn't put any thought into it at all

I bet he gets asked a lot. So he has given it thought.
Blimey he's grayed over the last 7 years.

Why does he take so long to remember he's in thor motherfucking 2?
Why does he take so long to remember he's in thor motherfucking 2?
Maybe he's got a bunch of things that he's working on, but only Thor has been announced so far so that's the only one that he can talk about. And maybe one of the things he can't talk about but he is working on is the Doctor Who anniversary. Maybe.
Earlier today, Blogtor Who posted an article on the 50th anniversary - gathering details from their usually very trustworthy sources. It has since performed a sudden vanishing act. Peruse below with a whole tablespoon of salt.
[sp]As we are now less than a year away from the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special, Blogtor has collected some news that may or may not turn out to be true but come from trusted people (with no reason to lie). Anyway, here goes...
• Filming starts in February 2013.
• Running time of ninety minutes.
• It is called The Eleven Doctors.
• All remaining "Doctors" have been contacted (some time ago) and have all agreed to take part.
• Earlier this year (was told this in June 2012), there were two versions of the story being looked at due to Christopher Eccleston's availability (probably around the time he was in negotiations for Thor 2). One version, dubbed "The Three Doctors" scenario, would see The Ninth Doctor feature akin to The First Doctor's role in the 10th Anniversary special (ie. limited). A second version features his character more fully. [I would imagine that, as filming is not far away, that a version has now been agreed upon.]
• Initially, I was told that Matt would regenerate in this story, but earlier this year it was mooted that he would regenerate in a New Year's Day special.
• The Mark Gatiss "genesis of Dr. Who" drama, An Adventure In Time And Space, starts filming in the latter half of January 2013.
• Series 7 Part 2 (8 episodes airing in Spring 2013) will lead into the 50th Anniversary with appearances from past Doctors in some stories. [I should add, I've only heard this from one person and, personally, I'm not too sure of its veracity. Included for completion.][/sp]

One of those I don't want to believe. The other sounds like madness. Good madness.
