Calm down, there's a lot of christmas specials on the BBC this year and Doctor Who obviously didn't take priority, that's just how it is Also the promo art for those BBC adventure games was pretty fucked up:

That's one thing that would have made the Daleks and Cybermen "balanced"; if Cybermen were slow, deliberate and almost indestructible, whilst not good at fighting at range, but Daleks were deadly at range and hard to escape from, but weren't as "durable" as they are portrayed as. In other words, give Cybermen forcefields but make them shit with guns, and keep the Daleks as terrifying death tanks but take away their forcefields, or at least make it so their forcefields can run out or be disrupted. Also I still want a sonic hologram for the screwdriver so the Doctor can swordfight with an "energy rapier" or at least set up forcefields to protect his friends.
I don't really get why it took the Cybermen so long to come up with guns in the first place... it seems like as an advanced species ranged weapons are one of the first things that would ever come to mind when it comes to warfare. I think the show just needs to invent less invincible things. Daleks with ridiculous shields that melt bullets or whatever are kind of overkill.

Daleks with ridiculous shields that melt bullets or whatever are kind of overkill.
That's what I'm saying; it's one thing to have a foe that an ordinary person would be unable to deal with, like the werewolf from Tooth and Claw or the Minotaur from God Complex, but throwing in a bunch of near-indestructible enemies, like Daleks with everything-proof shields, isn't all that good in my view. It makes sense to have seemingly-insurmountable enemies in specific contexts, like if the Doctor is in a creepy dank castle filled with wooden doors and he has to hide from Mr Flappyjaw, but in other contexts the Doctor should try dropping his "pacifism and running" tactics and actually do some fighting if the enemy is one that can be fought against. Enter the Sonic Hologram Projector, which is somewhat like a Green Lantern Ring only without the levitation part; it would be capable of generating holographic images that acted somewhat like solid objects, allowing the Doctor to raise a forcefield to protect him and his friends from a hail of gunshots as he tried to get away from a bunch of irked space marines, or bring out an energy rapier with which he could swordfight his way through a problem, rather than just run away. Hell, he could even pull out a holographic bow and arrow in a pinch; anything for him to be a bit less battle-shy, since sometimes his passive-aggressive ways of sorting out a threat could be considered worse than just running the bastard through with a holographic blade. He drowned the children of the Racnoss Queen with a stone-cold killer face, and he brought And I Must Scream fates upon the Family of Blood, not to mention sucking a whole bunch of Cybermen and Daleks into the nihilistic not-space between realities, plus there are probably other examples of his "passive-aggressive" violence being far darker and far greater than if he used more conventional means like a sword, even if he doesn't like guns. In short, he needs to be less pacifistic and more into direct fighting, since when he attacks from a "passive-aggressive" standpoint his dark side shines through in a worse way than if he let off steam by stabbing a Dalek through the eyestalk once in a while. Better to let out aggression in controlled bursts, rather than the karmic equivalent of a tactical nuclear strike on occassion. And it would be awesome.

And it would be awesome.
You literally just said that having enemies that are almost invincible is retarded, and then you say that the Doctor should have what is essentially a fucking power ring from the Green Lantern? Yeah, because having a device that can block bullets and stab enemies through the throat is really going to make the show better. Good job. And no, it wouldn't be awesome, it'd be dumb. The Doctor is supposed to be essentially a paragon of goodness, with a darkness inside him that could destroy entire worlds if not kept in check. When he gets angry, people run, because the shit hits the fan at 300 miles per hour, more often than not with a blast radius of several miles. Now, which one of these would be a more interesting series to watch: a) one where the good character is on the verge of exploding, and if they do, VERY bad things happen, or b) one where a morally grey character walks around stabbing things and not getting scared or angry or anything like that because lol he has a sword? Leave that stuff to terrible fan fiction, because if it was ever actually implemented into the series, I'd stop watching it.
More promo shots (that weren't on the Blogtor Who post): http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/blogdrwho/articles/Day-5-The-Snowmen-New-Galleries-and-Wallpapers [thumb]http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/tv/isite-static/doctorwho/wallpapers/s07/day_5_wallpapers/wallpaper_1_16x9.jpg[/thumb] Also, the TARDIS is looking pretty beat up compared to the end of Angels Take Manhattan.
Nice touch IMO. If The Doctor doesn't care, then he probably wouldn't be maintaining the TARDIS.

Has it always been like that in the show?
The Silurian has human hands? Has it always been like that in the show?
Nice catch, could that be a goof? Also, how can the tardis look so beat up? It's supposed to be able to take almost anything you can throw at it right? (Unless the writers say otherwise I guess)
Nice catch, could that be a goof?
She is disguised as a person, in order to walk around in the city. She wears a veil, like in the teaser, because you can't wear a fake human face and make it look real. Especially not in the 1800's. Or something to that effect, I'm not an expert :3

The long rumoured "new TARDIS interior" is getting a preview in DWM next week.

Getting some Eight Doctor vibes from that picture...
This is so strange, it's like they're re-booting the show again, midway through a series.
Wait what? They're redoing the Tardis?
It might make sense, if he's let the TARDIS fall into disrepair and then he goes to use it again. It might be in such a state that it requires a reboot or something.
I don't want to see it before Christmas so might avoid the thread from now on. You can tell from the trailers there's been a tonal shift. With the Ponds the show took a much stronger Sci-Fi vibe. The TARDIS looked like a fully fledged space ship. Though it was very human. It was even made from taps and shit. That said there is honestly no need in the world to reboot it. Just as people are getting used to it too. And after we had seen so much of it last series. There wasn't much need to get rid of the 2005 one beyond the reason "Oh it would be nice for a change". But mid series is really pushing it surely? [editline]8th December 2012[/editline] The TARDIS has has more interiors since 2010 than it did for the first 4 Doctors.
It's all from The Doctor's POV. The 2005 console room was destroyed and they wanted a new shiny one for the return of the series in new shiny high definition. He first saw his new console room once he first met Amy. Just as he wore his clothes after he first met Amy. So now he's probably looking for a change from both of them. Plus, if it's a pseudo-update on the original style of console room, I'll be fine with that. OOC, it's for the 50th, I expect. "If Hartnell's time rotor went to the ceiling, what would it look like." Not to mention they probably have a new Hartnell replica being made for Gatiss' documentary drama. Additionally, we have a proper TARDIS -interior episode next year - not just a maze of corridors. So a new design may have made more sense for various things.
The TARDIS has had more interiors since 2010 than it did for the first 4 Doctors.
I don't know, the Tardis had changed quite a bit inbetween 1963 and 1981
This is also a michael pickwoad designed TARDIS. So it should look great. Radio Times say that Gandalf is narrating the Christmas episode.
More than that he's the voice of the snowmen http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/doctor-who/23725/ian-mckellen-joins-doctor-who-christmas-special Shame, thought he would make a fantastic Master. [editline]8th December 2012[/editline] Which I guess is still always on the cards. Patrick Stewart would be a good Master too.
Reviews, guys. It's looking sweet.
Fear not! Jenna-Louise Coleman and Matt Smith are dripping with chemistry. It’s a new era for “Doctor Who

Jenna-Louise Coleman is dazzling and perky as Clara, and not as cocky as her looky-likey Oswin in Asylum of the Daleks.

Coleman takes to Matt Smith’s banter like a Star Whale to space. Watching these two spar is wonderful. It’s the exact kind of character who can fill in the giant void left by the Ponds.

Clara is crazy assertive, she doesn’t let the Doctor win her over, she goes after him, and hard. All you need to know is, the chemistry works.

Clara, as with Freema Agyeman’s Martha Jones, is a thinking person’s companion, and she’s very much on equal footing with the Doctor. The episode was made stronger because she was in it.

“The Snowmen” features more than one nod and hat tip to some of TV’s most popular shows. Three words for you: “Winter is coming.” Moffat fans will know the other references when they see it.
Game of Thrones references in Doctor Who? Hooo boy.
The Silurian has human hands? Has it always been like that in the show?
This picture was pulled, but probably not because of the human hands goof. Look at what The Doctor is resting his feet on, look at the initials on the doors, think about Ian McKellen and the Snowmen - and put it all together.

I can't put it all together at all, maybe I'm just having a terrible slow day
[sp]Great Intelligence. Disembodied being looking for a physical state - Snowmen, anyone? Also captured the TARDIS in the London Underground in The Web of Fear. Utilised 'control spheres' - and REG seems to have a massive sphere with snow inside it, from the promo pics.[/sp]
