Woah really? It's probably one of my favourite episodes. I always loved the way the professor camply says "well that makes things clear"
And the Professor was Patrick Troughton's son, that's awesome

And it's his 4th roll in the series.
so thoughts on clara's undyingness
is she aware of it or does she subconsciously have the thought to like souffles and have her last words be the same
Secretly clara is a soufflé maker

The Doctors Daughter was a shite episode. Three good episodes doesn't make a series good, I think series 4 is the second worse after series 2.

whoa someone actually likes the doctor's daughter? I thought it was just about the worst episode of the new series, either that or planet of the dead.
I kinda liked The Doctor's Daughter except the end part which was so fucked up and non-doctor that it ruined it.
Was I the only one that didn't really like Donna?
Also best episodes so far (got to the end of S5):
1. Empty Child
2. Impossible Planet
3. Waters of Mars
With their respective followups, of course.
Finale of S5 was really weak though, bleh.
My favourite finale so far. A lot of people can't and refuse to, but I'm happy to sit back and watch Moffat play with time travel to resole stuff.
There was so much about the finale that was subtle and intricate and truly inventive. It is stupefyingly brilliant – fantastically complex story-telling achieved with simple misdirection and an admirable economy of effort.
Whereas 1-4 endings were very much up and down until a wave of the hand/pull the lever/erase the year/push the button climax which wraps everything up neatly. Then comes along 'The Big Bang' where it took the end of the Universe and the destruction of the TARDIS, the rewind of The Doctor's life & the resolution of the cracks. The idea of remembering something back into existence isn't a new concept - and it's as close as it comes to an RTD finale. Not to mention it leaves you on the biggest high at the end of a series. An actual happy ending - filled with plenty of intimate moments. When the previous series finale (Journey's End) had so much going on, this was a very welcome change.
Just my opinion, but anyone who says Moffat has trouble writing himself out of his own stories, RTD had the exact same problem. Do you not remember Journey's End?
THE DESTRUCTION OF REALITY IS HERE. DALEKS HAVE STOLEN OUR WORLD. THE DALEK FLEET HAS INVADED EARTH AND ARE ROUNDING UP THE POPULATION. THERE IS NO ESCAPE. WE ARE ALL DOOMED...
...unless somebody presses 'that button there' (<- which was in the script) which solves EVERYTHING, followed by 'this button here' which makes Daleks spin. Followed by Davros' defeat by having his chair pushed. God, that really sucked. That entire finale goes down in my list just because of that. Another thing I'm happy to praise Moffat for - he took steps to rescue the Daleks from being the most easily defeatable villains in the Universe, only three episodes in to his tenure. Before the usual responses, no, this is not a rage against everything RTD has done and a blind Moffat worship post. I feel the need to attach that to every post of this kind.
Anyway. Another rant over.

Are you talking about S5 or the specials because if you are talking about S5 I just do not understand it was the best finale of all of them
I dunno, as well as it fit into the narrative, Big Bang just seemed like a cop out to me:
"Shit's fucked, yo"
"Oh right, well I guess we'll just reset the entire universe"
Also is there any particular reason Amy's parents didn't appear in the series after that?
The Pandorica Opens was so dramatic though and so beautifully done. The whole episode. Just all of Pandorica Opens was...wow.
Big Bang, less so. But still really great. The idea of the alternate universe which is slowly dying was great and the whole idea of resetting the universe at least made sense within the canon, which is more than can be said for the series that was to follow. It was definitely a better way to fix everything than the s4 and s3 finales. Maybe the s2 finale as well.
In fact, tbh, the resetting the universe made perfect sense. How else would they have done it.
Also, there's not. That shit just annoys me. Amy's background was horribly mutilated after that.
Pretty sure the reason Moffat didn't want to have Amy's mum and dad feature too much in the rest of the series is because, in the previous four series, it was basically The Doctor, his companion, and the companion's parents all the time, and it was always the same thing - parents don't like the Doctor, parents try to convince companion to stop travelling with the Doctor, the Doctor shows them that he's alright / the companion convinces them that it's a good thing they're travelling with him, the parents are okay with it, yadda yadda yadda. By the time we got to Amy, it was all feeling a bit repetitive.
Besides, it totally makes sense that we wouldn't see much of A,y's parents anyway. Having the parents around all the time kind of suggested that the companions weren't adventurous, or willing to leave their parents at least. That simply wasn't the case with Amy, who was already engaged by the time she met the Doctor, so it made sense that she wouldn't think too much about her parents, and therefore it made sense that we wouldn't see much of them. Whereas Rose still lived with her mum, for example.
That's just my opinion, though.
I thought she was great. I also thought Martha was pretty good.

I really hope the bring back Wilf some day.
I thought this was quite cool, its a picture of the BBC news reporting on Driving Errors in 1939.

Holy hell, the front is almost exactly the same, just a bit smaller windows.
Do remember it's only a rumour Jk Rowling is writing a Doctor Who story.
Though judging by the fact it was rumoured long before the announcement of the short stories we can assume it's true.
Either way I shall be buying them all. I will also assume they're canon.
Rowling should write a history for the First Doctor

Police boxes are real FYI.
Police boxes are real FYI.
I knew that, but I didn't expect the front doors to be identical to 11s TARDIS
I knew that, but I didn't expect the front doors to be identical to 11s TARDIS
Well, what reason would they have to change it from the original design?
It's supposed to look like a police box in the '50s anyway, although the St. John's ambulance sticker on the right-hand door was absent from all TARDIS props except those used by Hartnell and Smith.
So Tennant is on Ross tonight. Gonna catch the player after. My mate just text me "Check out Jonathan Ross interrogate David Tennant about the 50th Anniversary". No idea if that means he's been on yet.
[editline]5th January 2013[/editline]
Hahaha I realise to a foreigner how confusing that post is.
1) Jonathan Ross is a TV chat show in the UK
2) David Tennant is ON it. Hence the "on Ross". It's not a drug.
3) By player I meant ITV-Player. Not a person who gets around a lot.
4) It's not real torture.
[editline]5th January 2013[/editline]
5) They take turns to go on the show. There's more than one quest. I don't mean he's "on" his period or something.
Basically David Tennant is not on TV live on drugs being tortured by a TV host whilst on a period.

Fuck by 'quest' I mean 'guest'. It's a typo. There is NO quest.

I only know who Jonathan Ross is thanks to his son posting on FP how he played a preview version of Spore a few years back. :v:
Haven't seen him since then. It was amazing because he said "Oh here's a picture of me and my dad with a sign saying Facepunch" and everybody suddenly went "FUCK I LOVE YOUR DAD SO MUCH". Not surprised he didn't come back.
His name was... something King. Squirrelking? No wait, that's the full life guy isn't it.
