Doctor Who to shoot in New Zealand: http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/film/8215621/Kiwis-first-film-scoops-US-box-office
Calling bull on that one. It was a rumour quite a while ago now.
That's a shame if it isn't true. I heard Peter Jackson wants to direct an episode. Wish he did and then maybe he could get Weta on-board.
Calling bull on that one. It was a rumour quite a while ago now.
You never know. They're focusing on the Kiwi writer in that article so it's not too far-fetched that they asked him. Plus the producer of DW said they would very much like to shoot in NZ, and Jackson is a big fan so I wouldn't be surprised if they worked something out in the last couple of months.
After watching most of the first season I feel that the best way to describe Doctor Who would be a "Monster of the week" show. Kind of like a Twilight Zone with a recurring set of characters. I still enjoy the show but that is truly the best way I can describe it.

I would like to believe Who will take Jackson, Cross and do wonderful things in New Zealand. But I can't believe that it's been set in motion already and nobody else has picked up on it - as it would be a pretty big deal for the crew. It can go on the pile with the anniversary rumours for now. I hope I'm wrong and it's all been kept a big secret to not detract from the anniversary - but the next best piece of news I want to hear is that Series 8 has been commissioned.
It's got to be bull. These episodes were filming while the Jackson thing was going down for starters.
Doctor Who's 50th anniversary is to be celebrated with the issue of a commemorative coin in New Zealand. The series hits its half century this year and it has long been popular in the country, which was the first territory outside the UK to screen the Time Lord's adventures. The special two dollar denomination coin will be legal tender and features an engraved image of the Tardis.
I started watching the show (2005 series) a few months ago and I just finished the first season today. Now I get why no one really talks much about 9, he was only in one season. That kinda sucks.
How do you think 8 feels? http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Eighth_Doctor
Well surely it can't be- HOLY
Wow. This anniversary site has some high quality Doctor shots. [editline]24th January 2013[/editline] Can somebody make some wallpapers using these? When I put them in Photoshop they loose the transparency :( [editline]24th January 2013[/editline] Or just tell me why I'm a fucking idiot and that happens. [editline]24th January 2013[/editline] Nevermind- fixed it. Gonna make some wallpapers :D
You're right. They're great!
How do you think 8 feels? http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Eighth_Doctor
But 8 had all the books/audio dramas between 1996 and 2005. afaik 9 has appeared in the least stories including all the non-TV stuff.

http://www.doctorwhomusic.com/ - also preparing to go. RE: Above... throw five images in a row, add a logo, chuck a background image in... got myself a new quick and easy wallpaper. Looking forward to playing around with them more once we have access to ALL the character and monster pages. Something may be going down in Blackpool.
Daleks being rebuilt and 12 TARDISes being built and painted

I work in the amusement industry with ties to the illumination department in Blackpool. Apparently something big is going down on our side of the fence which is Who 50 related - but from an official BBC source it claims it will be backed by an extensive TV campaign of no less than 1350 minutes duration. I have never seen anything like this. Nothing from our past liaisons with the BBC have come close to this. Information is being very carefully released and only some information is being given to some individuals and companies used to farm out new products / services / appearances for this year. Only a handful of people know what the big picture looks like. Everyone else has been { or will be given } material relating to the aspects of the show directly corresponding to their output. What we got this morning bears no resemblance to what was at the toy fair... and what Cuerden Leisure got bears no resemblance to either releases. It's a very selective releasing of information... it's being drip fed very, very slowly.
jesus christ.
Brand manager, Ed Russell, has gone to twitter to say that the 50th anniversary schedule posted by BBC Worldwide is not accurate. That it is not just 8 x 7b & 1 x 60 min special.
This is going to be great year.
More from the Blackpool story..
Ah sorry, should have made it clearer.. as others have pointed out, the TARDIS builds have nothing to do with the show as such. 12 new box shells are being built, for use as part of the Illuminations display, But all the internal aspects of the boxes are being handled by a separate company, which in itself is unusual and it's being suggested that [sp]the different incarnations of the Doctor will occupy their own box (note the open doors -plus not all boxes will be made the same. The final 12th box will be kept under wraps for two months after the switch on. Why? Well don't ask me, but I can only guess.[/sp] Whilst not a direct tie in with the show all these elements were suggested by a certain broadcasting corporation, to tie in with what THEY have planned.

Silva Screen have announced that there will be a number of Doctor Who soundtracks released in 2013. The first to come out is the soundtrack to Fifth Doctor classic, The Caves of Androzani. The music is composed by Roger Limb and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. It will be released 25th March 2013 on CD and Digital download. Following that there will be a 2nd and 7th Doctor release, with details on the stories to be revealed. Meanwhile, fans of Murray Gold can expect soundtracks to Series 7. On top of that, a 50th anniversary compilation album featuring tracks from all eras. Exact dates are still be confirmed.

More from the Blackpool story..
Regarding the bit about the 12th box being hidden till 2 months after the lights are turned on- means it's revealed just at new year. Which means that rumour about [sp]Matt leaving in a new year special[/sp] is suddenly a huge possibility. Plus the fact all signs point to the fact production has started means the other rumour that filming would start late January is also possible (filming could've been delayed slightly).
I do remember interviews with Matt have him saying he'd play The Doctor until at least 2014, so maybe that's what he was hinting at? :v:
Yeah probably. He can't reveal anything. He wouldn't say "Funny question that, I was just reading the script where I DIE! I'll be leaving the show at the end of the year. BYE WANKERS LOL"
Moffat always replys with "He will be playing The Doctor forever" In recent times, almost in a "I'm hinting that you shouldn't leave soon" kind of way - directed towards Smith.
