i actually preferred the developing plots and two-parters much more to 'monster of the week'
i actually preferred the developing plots and two-parters much more to 'monster of the week'
As do I, but I think it was time to turn it down a little after two years building up essentially the same plot line. But anyway, that's only episodes 1-5. No doubt some new threads will appear when the new companion arrives after Christmas : )
When is the new series airing?
Ah, now THAT is the question that must never, ever be answered. Annoyingly, all three dramas that Jenna-Louise Coleman is in this year have mysterious air dates. But DW is premièring in late August, so I expect it to be on TV very soon after. We know Moffat and his spoilers thing.
I've been watching Series 5 +6 again this weekend. Up to "Lets Kill Hitler" at the moment. Glorious Who in glorious HD
i actually preferred the developing plots and two-parters much more to 'monster of the week'
What about the "Monster of the Week" episodes being connected to developing plot arcs, like that Key to Time plot sequence?
What's wrong with Monster of the Week?
What about the "Monster of the Week" episodes being connected to developing plot arcs, like that Key to Time plot sequence?
or E-space which was just three stories or the fifth doctor's black guardian mini-arch.
Hmmm, mini-arcs sound like a good idea; they should last longer than just the two-parters we usually get.
What's wrong with Monster of the Week?
nothing, but I feel that TV shows with a developing plotline throughout each series give me more incentive to follow them [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] i think series 6 had a nice mix of two parters and monster of the week episodes, probably my fav series so far
I'd prefer to stop seeing so much Cybermen and Daleks and maybe some Vashta Nerada.
Hmmm, mini-arcs sound like a good idea; they should last longer than just the two-parters we usually get.
I think that is being limited by the 13-episode run and longer breaks between series. As an example, they can't get away with 12 episodes for one story, and still have another 33 episodes to work with - and when it ends, the next series is only one-two months away. An extreme example of classic who, there ; )
It took an extra day than I thought it would, but I concurred Series 5 & 6 in HD again, It would have been one sitting but I had work today.
The fact that they redshirted Jenny in the Doctor's Daughter is just so fucking stupid.
Aye; someone as valuable as the Doctor's daughter-sister shouldn't have a bridge dropped on her, only for her to be rezzed and get put on a bus. But at least she's still on said bus, and hopefully the bus hasn't crashed or had a bridge dropped on it, meaning she'll get off the bus and back into the TARDIS; she'd probably be an interesting companion, and give a father-daughter kind of interaction, which could possibly make both characters a bit more relatable (they are still kind of relatable in some respects) to both teenage daughters and their fathers. Also Jenny would probably be pretty much the "action girl", a character to take action when it is needed. Also, when taken out of the Who context, the nature of Jenny being both the Doctor's sister and daughter (technically that's what she is) sounds like an important plot-point from the hit backwoods pig-farming soap opera "SUEEEEY!", winner of 7 Golden Pig Squeals as of 2011.
unfortunately only so much acting a new mother can do/should do. i wouldn't expect to see jenny returning for several years
I'd prefer to stop seeing so much Cybermen and Daleks and maybe some Vashta Nerada.
I wouldn't mind Cybermen if they brought back the old style Cybermen.
unfortunately only so much acting a new mother can do/should do. i wouldn't expect to see jenny returning for several years
Her kids should cameo in the show. That way the whole family has been in the show. [editline]19th June 2012[/editline]
I'd prefer to stop seeing so much Cybermen and Daleks and maybe some Vashta Nerada.
I like the Daleks and Cybermen. I just think they need to be written more threatening. At the moment it's "Look loads of them! Ahhh!" and then they don't really do anything.
I wouldn't mind Cybermen if they brought back the old style Cybermen.
I've been saying this for years. All I've seen of the old Cybermen was the Mark V head on the episode "Dalek". I loved that version of them them most.
Her kids should cameo in the show. That way the whole family has been in the show.
That could imply the start of a whole new Time Lord race. (After enough time, of course). Depending on how far in the future they are, they might be able to get access to vortex manipulators.
More Timelord's based off the Doctor letting Amy and Rory sex it up in the Tardis? Cool.
I wouldn't mind Cybermen if they brought back the old style Cybermen.
I like the new ones better, they know how to party:
Caroline John / Liz Shaw has passed away.
didn't she have a doctor who spinoff? (like 90s where it the only thing connecting the character was liz and a mention of unit) edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P.R.O.B.E.

There wasn't much going on with Dr.Who in the 90s apart from that Paul McGaurn TV movie most people seemed to hate.
K-9 and company was the first spinoff. probe had liz as the star and continued beyond just one movie, but it was again 'barely a any reference to doctor who'.

I knew that P.R.O.B.E existed and had actors from Doctor Who but I didn't know it actually was about a companion. I'm an idiot. I just know the 6th Doctor bangs Peri in it.
I want to watch a few episodes of Classic Who to see if it's good. What's a good episode to start on?
This might be slightly obvious but I always start at the beginning. Always.
