Nick Hurran direction? Okay. He gets the actors pumped but it's just kinda weird directing. I liked what he did in The Girl Who Waited but God Complex was a tad messy. Saul Metzstein is directing most the series. Why? Good as Gold wasn't just a bad script, it was pretty awfully cobbled together. I'm probably being unfair and mean, I should give a chance as they worked on Dread which is apparently great but I don't get why Moff doesn't stick to good directors. Toby Haynes was really freaking good. So was Adam Smith. Like best directors Who ever had. Then Moff drops them. Graeme Harper worked on the series since Peter Davison and Moff is the first showrunner to drop him. Graeme Harper really knew the show, it seems as the directors understand Who a bit more and do magic with it they get thrown out. The best bit of Blink was the direction and they never came back, it was genuinely creepy to look at. [editline]15th August 2012[/editline] Honestly the weakest part of the last series was directors who tried to do too much and had no idea how the show feels so each episode feels vastly different and the CGI is terribly tacked on. Scripts = Good Actors = Great Directors = Lacking
A few more review snippits:
The fiendishly clever script is packed with Moffat’s trademark dazzling wordplay and several guffaw-out-loud gags, while there are two scenes that will have viewers sniffling on their sofas. Best of all, the story makes the Doctor’s pepperpotty arch enemies truly scary again and contains several killer twists.

Asylum Of The Daleks is a surprising start in one or two ways. After all, from the title, and the trailer, you might be thinking this is an all-out action blockbuster of an episode. It isn’t. It’s got more in common with a good, thinking survival horror movie, such as The Thing, than it has a rampaging Dalek war

The sum total of all of this is a really, really good slice of Saturday night fun, that puts a good Dalek story at the heart of an episode that’s impressive for reasons beyond its foes. It’s frequently funny – Moffat hasn’t lost his touch with excellent one-liners – and emotionally involving too. It also takes the Daleks to some quite dark places, with a fresh, unpleasant edge.

Been sworn to secrecy by Moffat himself, but what I can say is: Asylum Of The Daleks is, by far, one of the best stories I've seen yet.
Has the date of the first new episode been announced yet? I've heard 23 of August and then I've heard 1st of September.
Am I the only one who thing that "Rose" looks like a plastic bimbo? Everybody in the "Women of Dr.Who" repeatedly said "Shes so hot" and stuff, I strongly disagree.
Good news, Nick Hurran is recieving praise for the opener.
I didn't know Karen Gillan smokes. It's actually really unattractive. [editline]15th August 2012[/editline] http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/aug/09/doctor-who-mary-tamm-husband Aw. My thoughts go to their daughter.
I watched Partners in Crime again earlier today. Rose's appearance at the end reminded me of Moffat's original new companion description - that The Doctor would meet her in the last place he ever would have expected. Asylum of the Daleks, please. You know you want to, Steven.

Wasn't there some report from guys who used to go to college with him about how he was a douche? Like in one of these very threads
Oh christ I'm brimming over with excitement for this episode. It sounds so fucking good.
I've just heard he's nice and pleasant, people dislike people they know all the time.
It's pretty obvious that the 1st episode will start on the 1st of September now, although the Beeb hasn't confirmed it yet
Scheduling releases are out for September 1st and still no Doctor Who listing. What are the BBC waiting for, exactly.. don't they, you know, want to start promoting the date of the return of the show any time now?
It's more unusual the markerting is all happening this week with Moffat on radio, the screenings, reviews and trailers. And it could be a month before it arrives at this rate.
i hope theirs a cod refference in this season
i hope theirs a cod refference in this season
Me too. Maybe The Doctor and Rory are playing it and then Rory farts and they laugh and then The Doctor farts and they laugh and then Amy farts and they all just look at her horrified and The Doctor mouths the words "shit bandit" in a really nasty way that makes her cry.
Then the Daleks shit all over everyone. [editline]17th August 2012[/editline] Cybermen too. [editline]17th August 2012[/editline] And the weeping angels go to a rave and poop all over the dance floor, causing the Doctor to fall over and break his spine, biding him to a wheel chair. He becomes reliant on Riversong to continue exploring. eventually he regenerates after fatal rectal failure all over River and the other 10 Doctors. [editline]17th August 2012[/editline] It's very late and I'm not thinking right.
why do i still come here

Asylum of the Daleks teaser trail tomorrow morning (GMT).
Doctor Who online says it comes back September 1st. Radio Times hasn't got a listings for that date yet. It best be back then. So much press going on.
Apparently the Doctor has to save the Daleks, from what I gathered.
Apparently new companion name is : [sp]Clara Oswin[/sp] And her first line will be [sp]“Rescue me boy and show me the stars.”[/sp]
I had a dream about Doctor Who last night, the show not the time lord
Source: http://blogtorwho.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/review-asylum-of-daleks.html
Opening episodes don't come much barmier and bonkers than the 2012 return of Skaro's finest in the first story of Series 7. Asylum of the Daleks may well feature every kind of Dalek ever, along with some you've possibly never seen before, but if you think this is some simple "spot the pepper~pot game" for forty five minutes then you're way off the mark. Asylum of the Daleks is a cracking series~opener but it's also a top~notch story that works incredibly well as a stand~alone episode for new viewers (not that anyone reading this will be). Dalek fans will be fascinated to see just how it furthers their myth and adds to their lore, whilst some may be disappointed at the lack of "every Dalek ever" action (not me though, it has to be said). Whether or not Asylum has reverberations for the future is yet to be seen and wonders if a return for the Daleks will be sooner, rather than later. On this form, I'd be more than happy to see them again in the near future. 9/10
S2E4, oh jesus christ that thing under the bed :( Bad idea to watch that episode at 5 AM...
Anyone have an exact date, or..?
