Just another step in The Doctor going back in to the shadows. Definitely something to come to a head for the 50th. I have faith.
Also puts an end to those "look me up" get out clause moments.
His delivery is really fucking weird.
I'd really like to see people get each Doctor to recreate the "I'm the Doctor. I'm a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the Constellation of Kasterborous. I'm XXX years old and I'm the man who is gonna save your lives and all 6 billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that?"
just good ol' I am the Doctor

What I like about the season 7 episodes is that since the budget for the program has gradually gotten bigger and bigger, the detail to the sets, characters, locations and CG feel like they are reaching movie quality and they look absolutely great.

He's hardly doing it seriously
The episode looked Hollywood.
So does the next one from the online trailer.

I'm not attacking Sly, I think he's a great actor, it's a shame his writing was not up to his level of acting.
I honestly felt like the plot twist to this was too similar to Silence in the Library/The Forest of the Dead.
Anyway: Mark Williams is so perfect for Rory's Dad.

What do you guys think about the new opening. I really dislike the tint, if feels really cheap. Could it potentially be important to the series, though?
Does anyone remember when in the episode, Oswin says "remember me"? Trying to find it quickly on iPlayer
No they killed The Daleks there as they were a mix of Davros and human DNA. Unpure.
They had the means to create pure daleks, just because they used the old armour doesn't mean they're not pure as the coloured ones.
The inclusion of the non coloured Daleks made no sense inside the universe of Doctor Who. The coloured ones had a whole hierarchy set up, where Red = Drone. So most of the Daleks should have been Red. The only reason the non coloured ones were added was so people who watched Classic Who could go 'holy shit its special weapons dalek'
or the BBC had no money for CGI/Models for the new Daleks, so had to reuse the old skin. Which is more likely.
The episode looked Hollywood.
Imagine what they could do if they made an actual movie that made it to the big-screen, they'd have loads of money to go crazy on what they wanted to do.
I got a massive dose of Source Code from that last episode. I had a sneaky suspicion that oswin was [sp] dead all along. Well, not dead, but a lost conciousness in a machine. same basis as Source Code [/sp]
Next episode seems weird though.

I had no clue that she was dead until it showed the dalek.
Pretty sure the doctor tells Amy to "Make them remember you" because he thinks he is going to die and wants her to beat the shit out of them before escaping.

I think it's meant to look like something like that, essentially go out guns blazing, but I just find it too coincidental that the big plot point of the episode is that they all forget him.

I can relate to that; the similarities do seem pretty prominent.
The new companion is fucking hot at hell. Jesus.
Welcome, everyone. To my world.
I was there the moment she was announced. Doesn't she come from your town?
Twenty minutes away. Close enough.

Has anyone noticed that Moffat strengthened the cannon when the doctor on Skaro that it was the original planet of the daleks not the homeworld? From my perspective this allows Skaro to not be timelocked if it was abandoned after the events of the revelation of the daleks. That BBC game free to the UK had the doctor and amy go to skaro without and reason why it wasn't timelocked with the rest of everything else dalek.
Also "IF something can break in, then everything can break out", dalek that flew into the time war to extract davros and a hole planet moved to earth out of such lock. Moffat you're such a tease :)
One more thing, did anyone recall the weeping angels or the vashta nerada when the light build flickered.
Wait if the Daleks could transport the doctor and his companions to the surface, why not a bomb? I'm pretty sure the Daleks could make a planet buster if they wanted to.

That episode length.
I like to poke holes in plots.
God she's gorgeous. And of course they introduce her in a ridiculous tight mini-dress. They know their fanbase too well.
I feel like the only person who saw the end of the episode being the obvious season arc. It even ties in with the end of last season - "The Question". I know I'm not actually alone here but damn are the angry voices loud in this thread.
I have faith that Moffat hasn't just retconned the entire Dalek backstory; he is in fact going somewhere with this.
If anything, I feel the next episode is going to struggle. it comes across to me as trying too hard.
They'll probably just bring Davros back.

That kinda thing is kind of a problem; blowing one's load in the "early-game" and having to sleep on the wet patch of high expectations.

I don't have access to TiVo right now with AotD, but does anyone remember what Oswin says right after eggs the first time she bakes the soufflé?
Asylum of the Daleks reached 6.4 million viewers.
Some pictures for you:-
Doctor Who fans are now able to control their television set with a Sonic Screwdriver, after a small British company created a 'fully-functional' replica of the famous device.
The Screwdriver has been modelled to look like the one used by Matt Smith's Doctor - cobbled together from bits salvaged around the universe. The product has been machined to feature only a minimum of screws on the body, while the grip on the handle has been formed from plastic that has been glazed to make it look like china.
But to unlock the remote control functionality requires a bit of effort on the user's part. Despite being beautifully laid out on a manual that features retro drawings and pictures, the instructions for the device are rather intimidating at first.
The product has to be programmed and it may take a little time and effort to get the most out of it.
A main home button at the bottom of the grip handles the core menu tasks, and the screwdriver has a series of programmable motion gestures, such as rotating the device, moving it from side to side, tapping the sides or jabbing the whole thing forward.
Each of these 13 different gestures can be programmed to perform a certain function on any product that has an infrared remote, such as a television, home entertainment system or even a PC with a remote control or IR dongle.
After entering the programme mode, you make the gesture and then point the remote's infrared light into the screwdriver's glowing green end. You then perform the action you want, such as turning the volume up, and the system automatically assigns the gesture to the action.
So, for example, you could do a rotating action to the right and then assign this to turn the volume up on a television. The screwdriver will remember that and always perform the function when pointed at the TV or other device.
Spend a bit of time with the Screwdriver, and you can programme it to perform pretty much all the major functions of a remote control. There are also four memory banks available for multiple different devices.
A lock code can be set that prevents anyone but the intended 'Doctor' from using it. However, anyone who forgets the code can just take out the batteries, which resets it without erasing any of the pre-programmed gesture functions.
Alongside the remote control functionality, the device also has a range of FX sound effects, including all the noises made by Sonic Screwdrivers used by Time Lords throughout the ages.
It comes with a plastic cradle that is designed to look like the console of the Tardis. Placing the device in the cradle while in FX mode means that it does not power down, but rather the tip flashes every two seconds. After 1,963 flashes - set to the year 1963 when Doctor Who first aired - it emits one of 11 morse code messages, ranging from "Sonic Screwdriver OK" to "fish fingers and custard".
